I had similar case and it took about a month for it to be resolved.

I kept sending messages upon messages to them thru the feedback option on my profile. And one morning after sending another one I got the approval immediately.

So I'd advise you to be persistent with sending your query to them.

Wish you all the best

Good day, please after submitting for IW for I and my dependents, I received approval for my dependents the next day but I have not received mine. Please has anyone had such experience? What can I do? Will the customer care be able to help?

Hi sophaid1st ,

I had to open separate profiles for each of them using another email address for each applicant.

I.e if you have 3 family members traveling with you, you have to use 3 different emails for them .

I hope this helps

Congratulations

Dronequeen:
Visa alert. Let me share my story in the spirit of giving back. I applied with my daughter
First time applying to the US
we applied for a visa at the beginning of 2022 and got a date in 2023. We initially wanted to go on summer vacation, but had to change our plans and applied to the UK, got our visa, went on vacation and came back.

Before we went to the uk, dates got freed up due to the interview waiver and we got a date for late 2022. I did all the booking by myself, with no agent and God by my side.

A month to the interview date, we filled a new DS 160 form, snapped new photographs, and updated it on my appointment page, i had difficulty filling the form, it just kept logging me out and i also had difficulty adding the newly completed DS160 form for my daughter, i had to call the embassy and they helped me to update it. A few weeks to the interview date, our appointment was moved but thank God the change in date was for just about a week.

I printed our confirmation pages, hard copies of our passport photographs and our payment receipt. Our appointment was supposed to be for 11.00am but we got to Walter carrington at about 6.30am, joined the queue, we had to drop our bags, phones in the car, no smart watches allowed, no sharp objects, no keys.

After about an hour on the queue we were ushered into the interview building, I did my biometrics and joined the queue for the interview. Blue papers were just flying about. All through only one white paper and the man is a frequent traveler.

I stayed on the queue and was directed to the 4th window, a woman.
She asked for my name, asked for my occupation, asked why I am traveling to the US and the duration of my visit. Asked where I would be staying, I had booked hotel reservations and she asked why I would be visiting the US, I told her my daughter has been dreaming about visiting all the fun places . She asked for my husband's occupation and why he is not traveling with us. Also asked for places we have been together. Asked if I have family in the US

She typed for long, she spent a lot of time typing, we were probably there for the duration for three sets of interview session. She finally said she would place us on AP and returned our passports to us gave us a white slip that ticked that we didn't need to provide any documents and then the wait began. I felt really bad because i thought it would end in a refusal, ans also because my only purpose in the US is tourism, i dont have any intentions of overstaying.

When I tracked the application it showed refused and some things about AP, after 2 working days we were called to drop our passports. After 6 working days it changed to approved , after 2 working days it changed to issued and the next working day we were contacted to pick up our passports.

I wish to thank all the wonderful people on this platform for sharing their experiences, it sure goes a long way. Note that no document was requested from me. All the documents I took along was not requested for

Hello house , please I need your urgent advice.

I qualify for the IW and I've cancelled my previous Interview appointment in order to be able to book the IW.

I also disassociated my dependant from my profile and I've been able to book an appointment (IW) for them.

But mine hasn't been approved since Nov 30th. I've sent series of mail to them thru the feedback option and I keep getting same response that once it's approved I'll get a mail.

And getting across to them thru phone call isn't going at all. I'm lost and cofused.

I'd appreciate any advice on what to do please .
Thanks

Okay. I don't know if you need schools that are less expensive. If yes, I'd suggest you check out schools in Minnesota - they're relatively affordable.
Tulane University application fee is free until 30th Dec.

You 'may' not really find schools with full funding when it comes to undergraduate studies but you can get a scholarship, though not full and it has its own requirement as well.
And about the test, it actually depends on some schools - some will waive the tests and some will not, so it actually depends. I know some schools that do not require any sort of English Proficiency test
When you find school without a test, ensure you remind them when they receive your application/documents or when they're about to send the I20 form. This is to ensure also that they indicate "test waiver" in your son's I20 form.

Best post I've read on Nairaland in a longtime. Learnt 1 or 2 things from all your post on this thread. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

roteblomen:
Nigerians and follow follow. Does it always have to be Europe or the west in general? The world is so damn big, broaden your horizon, damn. There are even countries ive been to Africa and i was like man, I'm I still in my motherland ? So damn beautiful. Anytime i visit tropical countries, a sense of life awakes in me. And everytime I come back to Europe, it is like I have to tame my extrovertedness so I can integrate properly to western bland lifestyle.

Countries like Namibia, cape verde, and Botswana are far better than many countries in Europe. For example Namibians can enter the UK and Ireland without a visa, same with Canada before some refugee seeking idiots made the canadians government blocked it.

If you love nature, a country in Africa with lots of white folks and tourist from all corners of the wolrd come to explore, then it is Namibia. With a population of two million people occupying a landmass almost the size of Nigeria, to me, thats paradise. Who wouldn't want to be surrounded with widelife and watch NATgeo in live view ? In west Africa ?ecowas countries), I'll recommend Cape verde Ivory coast, far beautiful than Abuja with uninterrupted power supply, good roads, electricity, security and fast growing economies.

Widen your horizon abeg. The west is overrated.

Thank you. We were made to sign a form that we wanted the visa cancelled. So the Visa was stamped cancelled and we were told we should reapply if we wanted to come into the US agian

seyewest:

I'm so sorry about your ordeals, I think the solution is to travel extensively to different tourist spot around the world before re-applying for U.S Visa, did they cancel your visa or it was a voluntary deportation?

I never spoke to her after then.

But thru a mutual friend of ours , she never denied most of what was in the transcript. She claimed she was scared and did not know what the situation was with us at the POE, hence her reason for telling them all these stuffs.

Still doesn't make sense to me though. Just had to let go and let God

Yes they actually contacted her, cos while we were still unreachable to our family, she had started calling them asking if they had heard from me cos she was worried about me after the call from immigration

I never bothered even up till this day to ask her why she did it, cos whatever she explanation she tries to give me would not have changed the damaged she'd done.

I just left all to God.

qhunlay:

That was so sad...

Did you later found out from your friend why she lied? Are you sure they actually contacted your friend or they just cooked the story up?

I like the part where you turned down the asylum offer, it was really a trap.

I pray that God Almighty will make a way for you again and it will end in praise.

I rejected it cos I tot it was a ploy to get us. Cos it just doesn't feel right accepting it at that time. We were already been suspected of not been a genuine tourist and accepting the assylum stuff would just confirm it.

Maybe it was a bad move not to accept though. I would never know

Please enlighten me more in about the A2C on Reddit. I have no idea what that means .

And yeah you are right about them lacking the hunger and determination. As you can see my son is less concerned about all the process.

busky007:
There are undergraduate applicants but they are mostly the too old (20+ year old trying to avoid ASUU) or the too young( less than 16 year old). Most lack the hunger and determination to pursue their goal. They are rarely active but you can learn more by joining A2C on reddit and R/Sat. You might be lucky to join a WhatsApp group where you will see other Africans especially Ghanaians and Kenyans .Those countries are usually the most serious Africans in the groups. Last year , a Kenyan got into all ivies apart from Brown , another got into Harvard( check her YouTube at Wangari Mwangi).

@qhunlay the concluding part.......

We were ushered into the oza room, I sat with my kids while hubby was being questioned for well over 10mins I would say. Immediately he got up, I was ushered by the cbp officer to come for questioning. The first question he asked was if I have a friend in Baltimore Maryland (yeah I do have a friend and she's aware of my travel itenary). I wasn't sure if he'd asked hubby and did not want to lie so I told him yeah I do, asked if we were going to her place, asked about her immigration status(she was there via spousal visa) I gave all answers to the best of my knowledge and sincerity. He then requested for my phone to get her number. I gladly did cos I was sure my phone was clean.

Few minutes later, he called me into another room this time he told me he was typing the transcript of all our conversation. Told me my friend had given a different account of our trip. She told him we were coming to her place( mind you we were not, we were heading to Florida) and spending 3 weeks at her place , she also told him she's been trying to get us an apartment that once we leave her place we would settle into our new place. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I made it clear to him she was lieing and he asked me "why would she like" I was dumbfounded.

There was nothing we could say to convince them otherwise. They drilled and drilled for over 10hours, threatened we would be put in jail for lieng to a US Federal officer bla bla bla, one of them even called my hubby aside and suggested we seek asylum which I told him " Perish that idea fast". At the end of the day , they concluded they were not convinced enuf that we were genuine tourist, hence they would have to put us on the next flight to Nigeria. My lil girl even tried convincing him we came for holiday. In her words " my mum is not lieng, we came for holiday" ( this brought tears to my eyes) but tah it fell on deaf ears. He was hell bent in sending us back. That's how I found myself back in Nigeria after more than 4 days being airborne. It was indeed a sad experience but I'm grateful to still be alive.

We Live to fight Another day

He hasn't gained admission , plus he's currently awaiting admission with futa but the Assu strike hasn't helped at all. Please which one is gpa score though cos to the best of my knowledge all he has right now is his SSCE result and he did well.

For the SAT , he has not written but would Enroll him so he can start prepping for that. Thanks @Lagosismyhome for the advice. I appreciate

quote author=LagosismyHome post=96179885]

It depends on how academically sound your son is ..... if he has a strong profile , gpa score. Ssce result and sat then yes some schools can give him some scholarship or funding off his tuition . So if he hasn't taken SAT maybe he needs to

I am personally curious to why he hasn't started uni in naija. The 2018 is now 2 years ago and God forbid if he get denied again that almost enough years to have gone half way a bsc in naija. Isnt that risky putting all eggs into this abroad going basket ?. [/quote]

Hello house , greetings to the gurus in the house. My son has been denied F1 Visa once (last year) and I believe it's mainly becos of his i20 form. The form did not get here before his appointment date so we went to the embassy with the downloaded version . Said VO asked him twice why he did not come with the original cope before she denied him.

Fast forward to present day, I've applied to UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY , mechanical engineering. Undergrad program. He's 19 years and he's been out of secondary school since 2018. He's currently taking a cert course with Aptech. Please I want to know if he needs to take any other test before his visa interview next year and also do undergrad also get full funding cos I've been reading alot of trnascript and the word "full funding " came up alot.

I would appreciate any info , input house. God bless and its really my desire for him to study abroad . Thanks all in anticipation

Interesting thread this is. Just came across this thread and tot I'd share my experience. Though it's not recent but still hurts till this day.

Got my B1/B2 visa on my birthday 2016, that was my first attempt and got it with my family. We booked our fligh for December that year with Qutar Airways. Journey for Nigeria to Doha was very smooth kids were very excited as that was thier first time on an Airplane . Upon arriving at Doha, we proceeded to Check in for our flight to NY yhyas when the whole thing started.

We were stopped by the US Border Control officer on ground and he requested he's like to ask is fee questions. We were stopped alongside another passenger (a woman with 4 children ). He asked the reason for our trip mad virtually same questions we were asked during our interview in Lagos which hubby was able to answer . He was satisfied and let us proceed with the journey while the other passenger was returned to Nigeria with her children (☹️ so sad). Flight from Doha to New York was a bit long and tiring but alas we arrived safely and the story changed totally from that point on.

My passport and that of my kids (2) had been stamped . We were admitted to the US , he was about stamping hubby's passport when he paused and asked her like us to step in to the oza room for questioning

We actually has an onward flight to canada. We were just picked randomly for questioning . Thanks for you input/advice

seyewest:

I'm sorry to hear about what happened but I think you've not painted the full picture of what happened in New York, I see no big deal in entering through New York except you have no onward flight to Florida or maybe you have suspicious stuffs in your baggage, suspicious messages on your phones and probably you've posted a lot of info on SM that you have no plan to return to Nigeria before taking this trip.

I'm not sure you will get a U.S visa in a long while and I wondered why you never tried our countries like E.U, UK and Australia.

Please forget about U.S for now.

Hello house, I'm a newbie here and I've read thru part the post though long so I'm unable to read thru all. I need candid advice on this forum please. 2016 i and my family (hubby,2kids) got a US visa, our POE was Florida and we went in thru New York. We were deported and our visa canceled and was asked to re-aplly if we want to re-enter the US. We tried June 2017 but we were deneid and ever since then, we haven't tried. I really want to try this year though we haven't tried any other country cos of the damaged passport and we have gotten a new passport last December. Please i want to know which step to take cos i don't want to be refused again. The incident still affects my daughter till date. Thanks in anticipation for your advice
