As a job seeker, I recall one weird experience I had at a pentecostal church back in 2010. I had just returned to Nigeria from my Masters course in the UK and was eager to get a job. I had a relative who knew someone in lagos state govt at the time. He was the commissioner of finance for Lagos state govt at the time. It was hard for him to book a meeting with him. So eventually after 2 months, he finally secured a meeting with him and it was gonna be a Sunday after the service.

I was Catholic and didn't attend pentecostal services so after I attended the morning Mass, I timed my arrival to coincide with the dismissal of the service. So I waited for him. It took quite sometime to get his attention cos there was a lot of people that wanted his attention after the service. When it got to my turn to see him, I was instantly thrown off by his first question '' Young man do you attend RCCG? 'I told him the truth, Sir I am Catholic and so No I don't , he then said then I either start attending the church or else there is nothing he can do for me.

I was so shocked. The man wasn' t even interested in what course I studied, what grades I finished with or my work experience. His primary focus was my place of worship. I told him '' Okay sir Thanks but I can't attend your church because I need a job''. Then he said he was done with me. And as I left I shook my head in disbelief why the country had deteriorated to the point of church politics.

I never met the man again or even bothered contacting him again. I just kept applying for jobs and weeks later, I landed a job at Ikoyi. Man nor be God las las. And that would be my first out of the few jobs I held in lagos before I became effectively self employed in 2015. But that experience never left my mind, some people dey mean sha.

Moral lesson — As you dey look for connect do that job, don't forget to keep looking, applying, believe In your self, people still get jobs in this country without knowing anyone at all. Just have a positive mind set and keep going. You shall land a job of your dreams. Best of luck!

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the lifting of the Twitter ban in Nigeria 222 days after he ordered the suspension of the micro-blogging platform’s operations.

The director-general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, announced this on Wednesday night. He said the Twitter ban would be lifted by midnight on January 13, 2022.

According to Abdullahi, the Twitter ban was lifted after the company’s management agreed to a set of terms and conditions laid down by the Nigerian government. Buhari approved the lifting following a memo written to him by Isa Pantami, the minister of communications and digital economy.

Twitter’s agreement with the Nigerian government
1. Twitter has committed to establishing a legal entity in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2022. The legal entity will register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The establishment of the entity is Twitter’s first step in demonstrating its long-term commitment to Nigeria.

2. Twitter has agreed to appoint a designated country representative to interface with Nigerian authorities. The Global Public Policy team is also directly available through a dedicated communication channel.

3. Twitter has agreed to comply with applicable tax obligations on its operations under Nigerian law.

4. Twitter has agreed to enrol Nigeria in its Partner Support and Law Enforcement Portals. The Partner Support Portal provides a direct channel for government officials and Twitter staff to manage prohibited content that violates Twitter community rules. At the same time, the Law Enforcement Portal provides a channel for the law enforcement agencies to submit a report with a legal justification where it suspects that content violates Nigerian Laws. Taken together, these represent a comprehensive compliance apparatus.

5. Twitter agreed to act with a respectful acknowledgement of Nigerian laws and the national culture and history on which such legislation has been built and work with the FGN and the broader industry to develop a Code of Conduct in line with global best practices, applicable in almost all developed countries.

So I saw a thread earlier, and decided to educate husbands in the house how to play the home politics, just as adviced by my pastor's wife.

My pastor's wife thought me a valuable lesson. She legitly told us to be smart as husbands, when the kids did something wrong in your absence and your wife did not discipline the child, but waits for you to come back and discipline them, don't. Make sure she disciplines them herself, otherwise your kids will think you are the wicked one and the evil one.

Don't always give your wife all the money to buy things for the kids, take the children out to the market, buy them clothes, take them to the grocery store, buy the provision in their present. Let them know you are the one buying them. If you buy them shoes or anything, make sure they are aware that you are the one buying them. If you do all these, the kids will love you more. This is 2022, don't allow your wife rob you of your years of labor when it's time to reap.

You can add your own way of playing the family politics.
