CharlyBoy had earlier on warned politicians against turning his late father’s burial into a party thing. Turns out he kept true to his word. Because last Wednesday, Charlyboy stormed out with his family during a colloquium organized in honour of his late father by the Imo State government Charley Boy explained why he had to do that, accusing Governor Rochas Okorocha of trying to use his father’s burial to score cheap political points. He said the government held a colloquium in honour of his late father and that despite his earlier warning that the burial should not be politicized, Governor Okorocha gathered all the members of his political party and wanted to turn the event into an APC rally. The event, tagged Day of Tributes for Late Oputa, which saw Governor Rochas Okorocha, his deputy, Eze Madumere; Senator Chris Ngige; national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Odigie Oyegun, former deputy governor of Imo State, Dr. Douglas Acholonu, and many dignitaries present held at the newly built International Conference Centre in Owerri. Trouble however started when the master of the ceremony announced that the next person to speak would be the national chairman of APC, Oyegun. No sooner had the APC boss mounted the rostrum than the angry Charley Boy fumed about how his father’s burial was being turned into APC event. He suddenly rose from his seat and stormed out of the event taking his siblings and family members along Read more >>> http://www./entertainment/charly-boy-stormed-out-during-imo-state-govt/ |
A female photographer documents her nine months of pregnancy in a unique photoshoot. Every "baby-expecting" process is an out-and-outer experience. Photographer Sophie Starzenski shows her pregnancy's step-by-step, beautiful progression from beginning to end in "Proyecto Pyokko," a series of maternity pictures that she describes in simple terms as "40 weeks and a mirror." The Buenos Aires-based artist says "Pyokko" is a nickname for her now-3-month-old son, Simon -- whose disarmingly cute baby face we get to see in due course. https://img.naij.com/n/00/b/9_months_1.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/10/9/9_months_2.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/0e/f/9_months_3.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/0d/1/9_months_4.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/05/e/9_months_5.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/0a/10/9_months_6.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/03/1/9_months_7.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/03/c/9_months_8.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/01/10/9_months_9.jpg https://img.naij.com/n/04/b/9_months.jpg Source: http://newsinigeria..com/2013/10/new-life-10-striking-photos-of-one.html http://www.newsinigeria..com |
SOURCE! http://newsinigeria..com/2013/10/libyan-pm-kidnapped.html https://img.naij.com/n/10/10/ali_zeidan-photoafp.jpg Armed rebels have kidnapped Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan from a hotel in Tripoli, his spokeswoman told CNN early Thursday, October 10. Two Arab television channels Abu Dhabi-based Sky News Arabia and Dubai-based al-Arabiya quoted Libyan security sources as saying that Zeidan was seized from a hotel where he was staying in the Libyan capital and taken to an unknown location. A hotel clerk who was not authorized to speak to the media said armed rebels escorted the prime minister from the Corinthian Hotel in Tripoli into a convoy of waiting cars. However, the witness reported no gunfire during the incident, and said the gunmen was respectful and "caused no trouble." Zidan's office initially called the abduction a "rumor" on its official Facebook page. Then it posted a note that said it was "coerced by kidnappers to deny the report." Ali Zeidan took office of Prime Minister in October 2012. |
https://informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/wrw11.jpg Move over Oprah, Nigerian oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija is now the richest black woman in the world with an estimated fortune of $7.3 billion. Africa boasts 55 billionaires – far more than previously thought – and they’re worth a staggering $143.88 billion in total, according to pan-African magazine Ventures Africa. Starting her career as a secretary in a bank in the mid 1970s, Alakija, 62, then studied fashion in London and returned to Nigeria to start a label, Supreme Stitches. But her biggest break came in oil. In 1993, her company, Famfa Oil, was awarded an oil prospecting license, which later became OML 127, one of the country’s most prolific oil blocks, by then-president Ibrahim Babangida. The company owned a 60 per cent stake in the block until 2000 when the Nigerian government unconstitutionally acquired a 50 per cent interest without duly compensating Alakija or Famda Oil. In May 2012, Alakija, a married mother-of-four, challenged the acquisition and the Nigerian Supreme Court reinstated the 50 per cent stake to her company. https://informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/wrw12-600x423.jpg She also has a charity called the Rose of Sharon foundation that helps widows and orphans by empowering them through scholarships and business grants. Forbes magazine had estimated Alakija’s fortune at $600 million, as of November 2012, but the magazine’s editor-in-chief Uzodinma Iweala said his researchers were ‘closer to the ground.’ They noted that Brazilian oil company, Petrobas, was looking to sell its 8 per cent stake in OML 127 for $1.5- $2.5 billion, and extrapolated that if they managed to sell it for $1 billion, Alakija’s 60 per cent stake would be worth at least $7.3 billion. Iweala claims this and other estimates included in the report are actually ‘on the conservative side’ and said the magazine expect to unearth more African billionaires shortly. The overall richest African is Nigerian manufacturer Aliko Dangote who is worth $20.2 billion. Twenty Nigerians are listed in total. According to Forbes, Oprah Winfrey is worth $2.9 billion.
