Traffic lights are not a nuisance but a safety and crowd/traffic mgt measure. Why would we not stop this wrong habit of ignoring our own safety.

Your kind of comment makes me fear for the future of the nation. Have we forgotten how to think straight? I am not a commissioner but I bend down to do what you may call dirty work when the need calls for it. I do this despite the fact that some of my employees come begging me to stop and let them do the task. Am I, in your estimation, also a media stunts man? Let's give credit where due and not be masters of aspersions.
Religion / Re: Lagos State Is Under Siege - Deeper Life by TalkDirect: 9:00pm On Aug 27, 2015
raayah:
Organized religion is one of the major causes of the increase in crime rate .

Deeper Life is a major culprit. They encourage their workers to quit their jobs so that they can 'serve god' more. After doing this, they start living in poverty, become desperate and turn to crime.

I was born and bred deeper life. I know first-hand what goes on there. They are very hypocritical. They encourage their members to breed like rats.

How can you encourage jobless men to have 8 kids. I remember one member was arrested for stealing pigs to feed his large family. He was unemployed like the rest.

what of the brothers that were warned to quit their jobs because they missed workers meeting? The stupid one who complied are still looking for jobs today.

Don't let me start with deeper life today.

Organized religion is the major culprit for crime.
It's so interesting to read your comment. But it will be nice to know how well you've made it in life since you left Deeper life. By the way the people you claim are breeding like rats seem to be the ones you know. I know a lot of them who have made enviable success though. The thing is they don't love ostentatiously to make a show of their successes. You were born and bred there doesn't mean you are a part of them u know?
Career / Re: 10 Golden Rules In Safety To Work Successfully In Construction And Oil And Gas by TalkDirect: 3:58pm On Aug 19, 2015
These rules should be applied in everyone's daily life actually. They aren't limited to the industry alone. Examples are 1. Do not drive without seat belt 2. No alcohol/drugs when on driving duty or operating machinery 3. No calls while driving.

God makes no mistakes my dear friend. Humans do. Certain drugs, radiations, environmental factors etc which all are man made can cause feutal cellular changes which may lead to things like this. Sometimes God is blamed for allowing war, terrorism, accidents as if humans are robots who are remotely controlled by God. What you need to do is ask why and learn so that you can PREVENT such occurrences. That's called taking responsibility. If you don't apply that principle then I can assure you that you will have a lot more to blame God for.

I agree with you that it is a very frustrating situation but I congratulate you because you spoke out. Actually the solution is not as far away as you thought. If you talk to someone who has suffered the same kind of disappointment in academic life and eventually turned out well it will be of help. If you don't mind, can you state your phone number? Some people like that may want share their story with you and advise you. All will be well.

I love Nigeria, but those that don't still have options bro, they can run to other countries where teenagers and youths have laid down their lives in the past , to guarantee a better future which most of us are struggling for visa to go and enjoy.
Did I just see ' visa to go and enjoy' Where did you get such an idea from? All of are subtly remotely controlled by the media, especially the movies. That's what makes a lot of people think there is enjoyment abroad. Believe me, I have been to so many 1st world countries as well as around Africa and Asia. Don't let anyone deceive you that they enjoy abroad o. They look fresh in the pix because they don't have much humid climate like NG and they give the impression that everything is cool. If they sit you down and talk to you, you'll be forever thankful to God you are a Nigerian. Yes we need to clean up Nigeria's name and straighten things up in Govt. Change our mindset and accept the fact we have a part to play in fixing Nigeria. As for you coming in your 'next life', sorry, no such thing will happen. I choose option 2. And you?
Health / My Request To Nairaland On PUBLIC SAFETY by TalkDirect: 9:01am On Jul 21, 2015
Dear mods,
I want to salute and appreciate your ingenuity that has kept these NL up and running all these years.
I wish to challenge up to make NL more of a Nation building tool by incorporating a forum called PUBLIC SAFETY. It is a known fact that myriads of accidents, calamities and woes that we read about on a daily basis could have been PREVENTED by people knowing the right things to do.
I therefore request that NL sets up such a forum for public education, sharing of lessons from happenings and raising everyone's SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS. Who knows how many lives NL alone will save by such a gracious acts.
Please consider this request and implement.

Thank you
Family / Re: Three-year-old Falls Into Well While Playing With Friends (photo) by TalkDirect: 8:50am On Jul 21, 2015
I notice that so many commentators are simply typing RIP without considering the core of the matter and that is our collective consciousness about SAFETY. The well is a death trap and if the fact that it needs be raised and covered or filled/sealed up completely misses our attention, then we have lost the sense of basic safety. Every time we see a news report about a fatal accident somewhere, a container falling on a car killing all, or any other thing that claims people's lives, we just type RIP as if nothing happened. I challenge us to look at our environment and change our perception so that we can PREVENT rather than Blame someone and pass by with chains of RIP on our trail.

The only hope and restoration the people need is true knowledge. They got to be able to think like mere ants, then they will free themselves of the bondages of not understanding their own capabilities as breathing beings. Beings with brains, hands and legs to overcome.

At the moment, they are like zombies with little or no cognitive abilities. Not even" Jesus" himself coming down to earth will free them. They are mentally enslaves, with brains as cold as frozen Arctic. As cold as ice.

But if the Pastor wants to show his bravery, let him go to Gwoza or Mongonu for mass. grin
The pastor went for evangelism and to bring the message of hope to a people whose hopes have been so terribly battered. It's childish and mischievous to imagine that he went there for 'a show of bravery' From the way you sound, neither you nor your relatives have been victims of those savage attacks or you would have spoken with wisdom, empathy and understanding. Let's learn to use words like treasure, not like pebbles to throw around. God bless the man of God and make him wax stronger and stronger.

You're right..but remember I've laid the assumption that the OP is a newbie and needs a lot of learning. If you check my reactions to the OP was more on the side of advice and not castigation. It is critical to note that the OP must have been taken by emotion when he wrote the piece and as such we should excuse some failings on what he left out or what he insinuated.

Nothing bad in simply asking him for clarifications
I like your disposition in responding to matters. You sound matured and looks like you have values. I hope more people on NL will learn to be like you and not to fan the embers of war. Well done.

OK pardon my tone and choice of words.........

But 2 lessons for you
1. It's better you seek clarification from the OP on grey areas rather than hasty and faulty judgement.
2. The Deeper-lifish jugdement is a rape on basic intelligence

....but Bros, while I try to find the motor-park..., dont you think you missed some classes? grin grin grin
Let's bury the hatchet. If the OP leaves an interview with such a broken heart and only comes out to point at some 'deeper life man' while missing out on the real issues pertaining to the subject of his residence/ distance then it leaves me with much question as to whether the fellow is employable in the first place if squeezed thru the seive of personal responsibility. Nobody likes to employ candidates that can't take responsibility. Seeing things thru religious lenses when we should be asking ourselves where we've missed it remains a problem even at the National level. By the way, not every man in suits is a Deeper lifer.

We Nigerians hurry a lot for action. Those who know the art of war know that strategy is the key element, not just the hardware. You don't deploy men and weapons without changing strategy, especially considering the history of this particular struggle. I hope we also recognize that military war strategy room is not a place where you expect press men to report to you from. That we see no action yet isn't an indication that nothing is happening.
While I commiserate with those who have lost loved ones, I suggest We don't teach a General how to execute war much as you won't teach a surgeon what do do after he's already cut you open. I believe he knows what he is doing.
When we pray for and help our leaders, rather than criticize them, we are actually helping ourselves.
Just my opinion.

I expect all to join hands and ask the President in Buhari to start work already.

- Nigerians are still being killed everyday in Maiduguri by Boko Haram.

- Workers in Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Imo, Benue etc are still suffering without pay for their labor.

And APC best action now is infighting and struggle for power when the citizen demands immediate CHANGE.

Immediate change Since the discovery of electricity a lot of people's mind-works has been altered to think that you can fix a 16 year-old nexus of national disaster with just a flick of a switch. It doesn't happen like that people. This is real life, not some adventure. Bihari isn't VOLTRON!!!

Inflation rendered them worthless. How sad!

But still can't imagine having to burden my pocket with some coins added to my phones.

I don't think it's inflation that took these coins from our pockets. It is something in the psyche of we Nigerians. We seem to ascribe inferiority to coins instead of valueing them. If they convert N100 and N200 to coins today, by Dec 2015 they would have also been swallowed up and we put it on inflation. It is something that just needs to be corrected in our culture. I attribute it to pride and ignorance. We are all guilty of it.
