[quote author=m.k.o2005]If i tithe a tenth of my income will i go to hell ? If i dnt tithe at all will i go to hell ? If i dnt tithe at all and believes there is nothing in my tithing any way, will it add any thing to my earnings? If i tithe and believe it will add to it will it add to my earnings? I believe that you dnt get what you pray for but what you believe ! Friends, any thing we do in life let's check if there are consequences and how grave the consequences are ! The big question should be:What is the essence of tithing ? If i take out 10k from my 100k at the end of the yr,take it to the 'house of God'and believe am giving it to God,is there anything wrong with that ?But i think there is something wrong when i dnt give it at all and someone tells me i will go to hell becos i dnt give it-that's where the problem is.Jesus said to the Pharisees that even though they pay their tithe, that they should not leave out rendering of justice and love God as well.HE said both should be done side by side Luke 11:42 ! For me,if it's mandatory, then it's a law which we dnt need. But when it's optional i.e do it when you think there is need for it or out of love for God and HIS work. I love this issue of whether to tithe or not, whether to cover our heads as ladies in church or not, whether we should put on trousers to church as ladies or not, whether we should speak in tongues or not and the like cos they are some how there in the holy bible for us to have a reasonable debate. But when an issue isn't there at all and we practice it,i get turned off ! Shalom[/quote]Did we not read in (1 Corinthians 1:10) "10 Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought." We must identify the truth and follow it. If any teaches what is unscriptural, then that person or group does not have the truth. The person or group simply belong to the Devil according to Jesus Christ John 8:44) "44 YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]." And the result will be (Matthew 7:21-23) "21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness." So if any finds himself were falsehood is taught, the person should according to Revelation 18:4 get out of there "And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues." also (2 Corinthians 6:16, 17) 16 And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of a living God; just as God said: “I shall reside among them and walk among [them], and I shall be their God, and they will be my people.” 17 “‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; “‘and I will take YOU in.’” |
tinkinjo: Like all other accidents on Nigerian roads this could've been avoided. When an accident involve a vehicle and a pedestrian on the road aside at a zebra crossing or on a pedestrian walk, it's always the pedestrian that takes the blame.Majority of Nigerian drivers do not respect zebra crossing. I have tried it a couple of times. I wonder if they even know what the zebra crossing is meant for. |
Sorry for the lost life. Its so so sad. Mr Momoh's family will be in pains. Sorry for those who are most pained. Life oh life! How I long for that time when man will live and live forever. How I long for that time when there will be no more pains and tears resulting from the death of a loved one. When mankind's most dogged enemy will be brought to nothing. When man will have all that life truly means and will offer. A time when rather than announce deaths, resurrections will be announced. Rather than gathering to bury, we will gather to welcome back. What a future awaits us. Bear please, please bear Momoh's family if do hear me. |
No Tithing for Christians. At no time were first-century Christians commanded to pay tithes. The primary purpose of the tithing arrangement under the Law had been to support Israel’s temple and priesthood. These had no tribal lands other than certain cities, so they needed this special support. In addition, faithful Israelites were free to give voluntary contributions for special projects, such as the construction of the tabernacle and, later, the temple.—Exodus 25:1-8; 1 Chronicles 29:3-7. consequently the obligation to pay tithes would cease when that Mosaic Law covenant came to an end as fulfilled, through Christ’s death on the torture stake. (Eph 2:15; Col 2:13, 14) Hence, along with other features of the Law, such as regular sacrifices at the temple, tithing was no longer required of the faithful. It is true that Levitical priests continued serving at the temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 C.E., but Christians from and after 33 C.E. became part of a new spiritual priesthood that was not supported by tithes.—Ro 6:14; Heb 7:12; 1Pe 2:9. As Christians, they were encouraged to give support to the Christian ministry both by their own ministerial activity and by material contributions. Instead of giving fixed, specified amounts to defray congregational expenses, they were to contribute “according to what a person has,” giving “as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2Co 8:12; 9:7) They were encouraged to follow the principle: “Let the older men who preside in a fine way be reckoned worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching. For the scripture says: ‘You must not muzzle a bull when it threshes out the grain’; also: ‘The workman is worthy of his wages.’” (1Ti 5:17, 18) The apostle Paul set an example in seeking to avoid bringing an undue financial burden on the congregation.—Ac 18:3; 1Th 2:9. So among Christians, giving is motivated by love, not law. The apostle Paul explained the principle when organizing a collection for needy Christians in Judea. He said: “Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7) |

gidiMonsta: Are you saying America will soon be destroyedAmerica is one of the two horned wild beast of Rev. 13 America and Britain are part of the remaining head of the seven headed wild beast of Rev. 17:9-11, counting from Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo Pasia, Greece and Roman empire as at 96 C.E. America/Britain are acting on the world stage through the image of the wild beast (UN)which will soon go off into destruction, after her destruction of all forms of false religion on earth. It is building up. Concerned people are calling for a world without religion. Please read: (Revelation 18:5-10) . . .For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind. 6 Render to her even as she herself rendered, and do to her twice as much, yes, twice the number of the things she did; in the cup in which she put a mixture put twice as much of the mixture for her. 7 To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning. For in her heart she keeps saying, ‘I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning.’ 8 That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong. 9 “And the kings of the earth who committed fornication with her and lived in shameless luxury will weep and beat themselves in grief over her, when they look at the smoke from the burning of her, 10 while they stand at a distance because of their fear of her torment and say, ‘Too bad, too bad, you great city, Babylon you strong city, because in one hour your judgment has arrived!’ (Revelation 18:21-24) . . .And a strong angel lifted up a stone like a great millstone and hurled it into the sea, saying: “Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again. 22 And the sound of singers who accompany themselves on the harp and of musicians and of flutists and of trumpeters will never be heard in you again, and no craftsman of any trade will ever be found in you again, and no sound of a millstone will ever be heard in you again, 23 and no light of a lamp will ever shine in you again, and no voice of a bridegroom and of a bride will ever be heard in you again; because your traveling merchants were the top-ranking men of the earth, for by your spiritistic practice all the nations were misled. 24 Yes, in her was found the blood of prophets and of holy ones and of all those who have been slaughtered on the earth.” |

ehie: pretty boy,Are all forms of worship acceptable? Should worship be for the sake of it, and not for one that is acceptable to the almighty God? Well, the truth is, Babylon the Great will soon be devastated/destroyed. Man must search for the truth. It must not be localized. |
Can't people just post without insulting themselves? Why! why!! |
The fall of Babylon the Great is eminent (Revelation 18:1-3) 18 After these things I saw another angel descending from heaven, with great authority; and the earth was lighted up from his glory. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: “She has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons and a lurking place of every unclean exhalation and a lurking place of every unclean and hated bird! 3 For because of the wine of the anger of her fornication all the nations have fallen [victim], and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the traveling merchants of the earth became rich due to the power of her shameless luxury.” Babylon the Great : the world empire of false religion will be devastated soon. (Revelation 18:9, 10) 9 “And the kings of the earth who committed fornication with her and lived in shameless luxury will weep and beat themselves in grief over her, when they look at the smoke from the burning of her, 10 while they stand at a distance because of their fear of her torment and say, ‘Too bad, too bad, you great city, Babylon you strong city, because in one hour your judgment has arrived!’ |
ujukala: If she is dead, then, it is the will of God.It can not be God's will. (James 1:13) 13 When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. (Job 34:10-12) 10 Therefore, YOU men of heart, listen to me. Far be it from the [true] God to act wickedly, And the Almighty to act unjustly! 11 For [according to] the way earthling man acts he will reward him, And according to the path of man he will cause it to come upon him. 12 Yes, for a fact, God himself does not act wickedly, And the Almighty himself does not pervert judgment. |

Tenderly1: RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION AKA 666How does this definition agree with this verse: (Revelation 13:16-18) 16 And it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, 17 and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name. 18 Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man’s number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six. what is the wild beast? (Revelation 13:1, 2) 13 And it stood still upon the sand of the sea. And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, and upon its horns ten diadems, but upon its heads blasphemous names. 2 Now the wild beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were as those of a bear, and its mouth was as a lion’s mouth. And the dragon gave to [the beast] its power and its throne and great authority. Remember please: (Revelation 1:1) 1 A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John. . . |
achi4u: Is this true?Fulfilled prophecies indicate they will surely happen. For a book that could tell 100's of years before science discovery that the earth of spherical and hangs upon nothing, what else do you think. The Bible is scientifically accurate. It even contains information that was far ahead of its time. For example, the book of Leviticus contained laws for ancient Israel on quarantine and hygiene when surrounding nations knew nothing about such matters. At a time when there were wrong ideas about the shape of the earth, the Bible referred to it as a circle, or sphere. (Isaiah 40:22) The Bible accurately said that the earth ‘hangs on nothing.’ (Job 26:7) Of course, the Bible is not a science textbook. But when it touches on scientific matters, it is accurate. Is this not what we would expect of a book from God? A BOOK OF PROPHECY The Bible contains numerous prophecies, many of which have already been fulfilled. Consider an example. Through the prophet Isaiah, who lived in the eighth century B.C.E., Jehovah foretold that the city of Babylon would be destroyed. (Isaiah 13:19; 14:22, 23) Details were given to show just how this would happen. Invading armies would dry up Babylon’s river and march into the city without a battle. That is not all. Isaiah’s prophecy even named the king who would conquer Babylon—Cyrus.—Isaiah 44:27–45:2. Some 200 years later—on the night of October 5/6, 539 B.C.E.—an army encamped near Babylon. Who was its commander? A Persian king named Cyrus. The stage was thus set for the fulfillment of an amazing prophecy. But would the army of Cyrus invade Babylon without a battle, as foretold? The Babylonians were holding a festival that night and felt secure behind their massive city walls. Meanwhile, Cyrus cleverly diverted the water of the river that flowed through the city. Soon the water was shallow enough for his men to cross the riverbed and approach the walls of the city. But how would Cyrus’ army get past Babylon’s walls? For some reason, on that night the doors to the city were carelessly left open! Regarding Babylon, it was foretold: “She will never be inhabited, nor will she reside for generation after generation. And there the Arab will not pitch his tent, and no shepherds will let their flocks lie down there.” (Isaiah 13:20) This prophecy did more than predict a city’s fall. It showed that Babylon would be desolated permanently. You can see evidence of the fulfillment of these words. The uninhabited site of ancient Babylon—about 50 miles [80 km] south of Baghdad, Iraq—is proof that what Jehovah spoke through Isaiah has been fulfilled: “I will sweep her with the broom of annihilation.”—Isaiah 14:22, 23. Considering how the Bible is a book of reliable prophecy is faith strengthening, is it not? After all, if Jehovah God has fulfilled his past promises, we have every reason to be confident that he will also fulfill his promise of a paradise earth. (Numbers 23:19) Indeed, we have “hope of the everlasting life which God, who cannot lie, promised before times long lasting.”—Titus 1:2. |

His fruit will be as in Leb′a·non, And those who are from the city will blossom like the vegetation of the earth. (Isaiah 65:22) 22 They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. . . (Psalm 37:29) 29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it. |
gboss4sure: This is by far the most sensible comment on this thread. This underscores the truthfulness of Jeremiah 10:23 that reads thus "I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." |
With the trend of science, will man be able to remove mankind's greatest enemy death? |
hannydarl: Not in Nigeria. Remember, all animals are equal but, some are more equal than others. Translated to all nigerians deserve to live but some deserve life more than others. When its the turn of the common man they will remind us to patronize Nigeria. I cannot phantom why all regions of this failling nation cannot come together pull resources and build a state of the art hospital. I.e Bayelsa,Rivers,CRivers,Imo and Abia can join money and forces to build a regional specialist hospital. There is only one solution. Just one solution! |

I read this and got worried as much as the questioner. But something struck my consciousness when I read the following "The obvious answer is that African leaders are just older than those of other continents, an explanation Simon Allison favours. He believes Africans like their leaders to be older - respect for elders is embedded in the culture of many of the continent's countries. But are they? "African presidents, before they have been elected, will have led a relatively disadvantaged life, and disadvantageous lifestyle, and that will impact on their life expectancies at subsequent ages," he says. "So once they get into the presidential office, even though they will be living a lifestyle far far far removed from their fellow citizens, which would increase their life expectancy in relation to those fellow citizens, they do have an accumulated disadvantageous lifestyle which they have to pay back on at some time." Although of course, not all African leaders will have had poor childhoods." http://www..com/talk/topic,130783.0.html Whats your take on this, considering the common saying that Africans have a lower life span complicated by neglect and deprivation caused by its leadership partly, such that when the follower eventually becomes the leader much harm must have been done. This of course is to divorce the fundamental cause of death which is human imperfection from inherited sin. |
