Politics / Re: Official Video- Ifeanyi Ubah Caught Obiano Cheating During AIT Debate by talkingfingers: 7:51am On Nov 06, 2013
At least, Ngige chose to be embattled. How many Nigerian politicians are that daring? They all play ball and sell their citizens and constituents to hyenas. Give the man credit he deserves. If we had more Ngiges who would deliberately fall out with their godfathers, I doubt we'd be in the sort of mess we're presently in.
Family / Re: On What Grounds Will You Divorce Your Partner? by talkingfingers: 8:55am On Mar 21, 2013
[quote author=hardbody]I just cant imagine a divorce especially where there are already children in the marriage. For their sake, i will forgive anything and everything. The most heinous crime will be cheating, even that i will forgive because i must have set the stage for her to cheat. I do not forsee the possibility of a woman physically abusing me, but where that happens, i will get round it my own way. Nagging, etc etc are things i can always manage.

[Hmm! Your own hard body no be here o! Do you sound for real? I have my doubts. And I wonder why your comment is silent on what will become of the happiness of not just you and your spouse, but the kids as well?]
Politics / Re: Kano Bombing "A Distraction" From More Important Issues - El-Rufai by talkingfingers: 11:22pm On Mar 20, 2013
What does that presumption do for you? He did not tweet them, period! It's that open-and-close. The only presumption one can possibly make, I repeat, is that he possibly shares similar sentiments. And, that he doesn't come out tomorrow to either confirm or dispel such thinking on our part, has little or no bearing. He can jolly well afford to sit back and look on instead. I am not necessarily holding brief for the man, here. I'm only trying to correct erroneous impressions.
Politics / Re: Kano Bombing "A Distraction" From More Important Issues - El-Rufai by talkingfingers: 7:18pm On Mar 20, 2013
el-Rufai DID NOT put those words down, please. He merely retweeted other people's tweets (both of whom mentioned him in them), and linked his tweet to his Facebook page. Let's not let our hatred blind us to the point where we make false accusations ourselves. At worst, we can presume he shares those sentiments. And that, he can always deny.
Religion / Re: Exclusive Pictures of Pastor Oritsejafor’s Jet by talkingfingers: 6:49am On Nov 13, 2012
Shy Steady:
Remember, the triumphant entry into Jerusalem? Jesus rode on the best donkey.
Mediocrity is never a part of christianity. Christians are supposed to be top in every field they find themselves.

O, yes I remember Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He rode the best donkey, and rumour has it that the donkey back then was one of the smaller beasts of burden compared to the ox and camel. It sure wasn't a luxurious means of transportation. Horse-drawn chariots took care of that rather nicely, and with lots of effizy too. By the way, the best donkey would hardly rub shoulders with an average horse.

So comparing Christ's donkey ride with Oritsejafor's jet is a little hollow. The latter I liken to a Peugeot 504 AT BEST. Old model, but brand new and reliable.

However, a Bombadier jet AT THE VERY LEAST (if at all it could be likened to anything they had back then) would have been a gold-plated, 'stretch limousine', luxury chariot (with the best meats and the finest wines in steady supply on board and angelic-looking, did-I-hear-someone-say-scantily-clad-damsels on hand to meet Ayo's EVERY need) drawn by some of the finest, rare breed, high pedigree and thoroughbred horses with diamond encrusted hoofs and stuff.
Phones / Re: How Effective Is A BlackBerry Bold 5? by talkingfingers: 12:17pm On Nov 05, 2012
LADI_baba: Well, I have been using this phone since last year when it came out, It has been ok. I got to know there are 2 types - the 9900 (the problematic one) and the 9930 ( the preferred choice)

tj-dj:
if you are buting bold 5 there is only one rule to lasting one, BUY BOLD5 9900,there is no physical difference between 9900 and 9930(the difference cannot be seen with naked eye) but i assure u that 9900 gives lesser or no problem, the battery last longer because the 9900 utilises the light around you by shutting out keyboard light power.

That's the problem with seeking help. You end up more confused. And poster hasn't even met the phone sellers yet!
Education / Re: Nigerian Student Breaks World Record, Scores 4.0 / 4.0 In Turkish University by talkingfingers: 5:22pm On Oct 26, 2012
However we choose to look at it, it was out of order for the lad to be tagged as 'Yoruba'. Being the one nation we are (for now), this feat calls for national celebration as well as deep reflection. Why are we so backward a nation in spite of our huge individual potentials? It's obviously gotta do with this sorta petty bickering being exhibited here. If we must go our separate ways, no be on top Osewa Nairaland na! Let's go about it properly. Until then, this 4.0-scoring brother belongs to us all.

Politics / Re: Why Has The Tide Turned Against The ACN? by talkingfingers: 8:17am On Oct 25, 2012
The ACN/AC/AD has been its own worst enemy in recent times. I wonder what reasonable opposition party would ever want to cut a deal with the PDP. THIS PDP! Such an alliance is bound to backfire, and backfire it has on the ACN.

It happened in 2003 when they lost all but Lagos to OBJ and his scheming after they'd chosen to not field a presidential candidate, backing baba instead. They successfully rallied back four years later, though not without some help.

Again, GEJ played a fast one on them last year when they ignominiously dumped Ribadu (not that I ever believed in Nuhu) and backed Mr President, only for his government to turn on them first with Tinubu's Code of Conduct harassment, then the sacking of Justice Salami (the ACN's help in the previous paragraph), the militarising of Lagos during the subsidy protest, the ridiculing of Yorubas with MAULAG...

Last weekend, Mimiko pulled the rug from underneath them. What business did they have funding the man's first coming, a former PDP minister? I always knew the Labour Party tag was going to be short-lived. The ACN ought to have known that too. If they claim to not have known it, then they deserve what they get.

Tinubu has been a liability to the ACN for a while now. That's no longer news. But with Fashola fast losing face and his popularity in freefall, and with Salami effectively sidelined and silenced, the ACN seems doomed, and that is bound to tear the Yoruba nation apart.

Politics / Re: Okada Riders Damaged 42 Buses – LAGBUS, LAMATA by talkingfingers: 10:51pm On Oct 24, 2012
ddim22:
Okada riders are not the first people whose business was affected by govt. policies. Many sectors of our economy like banking etc, have been hit by govt. policies before and people lost their jobs in their thousands. Why didnt they become armed robbers.Losing ur job is not a justification for you to go into crime. It is not today that unemployment started in the country or any where in the world. The okada riders can look for another business to engage themselves in,and they are lucky they have been working before so source of capital for a petty business will not be a problem because they have a little money they have saved.I am saying this as an advice to this okada riders because the govt. of a land is an authority ordained by God.If their policies disturb your business, look for a way out that will not break the law.

See okada man, see savings sha! No be only savings!! For people that live from hand to mouth. Even the bankers whom you cited as examples scarcely have any savings to show for all their toiling, let alone an aboki okada rider with his hire-purchase bike. Savings ko, source of capital ni!
Politics / Re: Okada Riders Damaged 42 Buses – LAGBUS, LAMATA by talkingfingers: 10:44pm On Oct 24, 2012
kawkab: Damaging this buses makes their case worse off. The should have just gone a peaceful protest.

Furthermore, the Okada business has led to to the influx of a lot of unwanted persons in Lagos. People that should doing other skilled based jobs in states and in other parts of the country. A lot of hausa chaps from parts of the country are now in Lagos doing Okada business when they should be engaged in other issue.

Please note that i am not denying the fact that the ban would cause a lot of hardship for commuters; but that is not enough reason for those affected to start vandalizing government properties.

Did you really have to type that second paragraph?

serahsadeiyare:
I weigh 43kg, he weighs 120kg.

I am slim... He is broad shouldered, all muscled and with a wide chest.

A complete mismatch, in my opinion...

serahsadeiyare:
I am slim, and my statistic is 32'26'34.

Not that bad, seriously. Kim Kardashian's are 34'26'40...

serahsadeiyare:
he started harrassing me to eat well.
He said I was too slim and I looked like a teenager beside him.
he started making statements like, "How I wish you had a bigger boob and bigger bum."

This is the man I plan to marry, what should I do?

That should be obvious. He isn't right for you. Don't try to make him.

Yeah, too long. Your story has me wondering what sort of man would do nothing about his wife and kids being lost during a church service simply because his kin insist on being xenophobic. You try to help yourself and they give you stick?? Crazy!

kemtol: as per my in laws they are okay wit me. they remuslims and they told me im free at d fifth month...

Comparing this turn of events with some of the more ridiculous opinions that have been aired here, I can only keep my mouth shut.

Kemtol, you really are a lucky woman given the level of understanding your late husband's in-laws seem to be displaying.
Family / Re: How Long Should A Widow Mourn Her Late Husband by talkingfingers: 12:13am On Oct 05, 2012
You've got two primary considerations, you and your son.

Be sure you are emotionally ready to give the new man your best. You need to have moved on from your late husband as it's not ideal to have him come between you and the new guy too frequently. And like others have said, he's got to love your boy like his. Failure to do that should be a deal-breaker.

Bottom line, you don't need to prove to anyone that you loved your late husband by mourning forever. Like the responses here have shown, you can't please us all no matter how hard you try.

All the best.

Romance / Re: What Was The Reason Behind Your Breakup? by talkingfingers: 7:00am On Oct 03, 2012
aaidel: My mother didn't like her.

You get luck say you be man. I'd have asked you to start praying that time doesn't come when she settles for someone she likes a lot less out of desperation.

Your mom not liking her should have been a case of the older woman expressing her opinion. If it DID resonate with you, fine. But quit referring to it as mommy's idea. It makes you sound like you don't have a mind of your own.

She objected, you bought her reasons, YOU objected, PERIOD!
Car Talk / Re: What To Do If You See A Pothole At 100km/hr Speed Or Above? by talkingfingers: 12:14pm On Sep 29, 2012
Arctic: My advice would be:

1. Firmly apply your brakes. Make sure you don't swerve at this high speed as this may cause you to lose control of the car.

2. If there are cars behind me I would quickly put on my hazard lights at this point to alert those behind me that there is danger ahead. Otherwise they may not notice in time and may end up rear ending you.

3. If above 100 kph then swerving in an attempt to avoid the pothole could be even more dangerous as you could end up losing control of the car completely.

4. Take your feet off the brakes just before you enter the pothole. This is to try and see if your momentum at this point (remember your physics) will carry you across the pothole,

I guess the worst that could happen if you navigate it succesfully as above would be a damaged suspension and undercarriage.

However trying to avoid it at high speed could result in a nasty accident.

Artic

Just the kinda stunts you'd see in Bond movies. What a list! If one had time enough to do ALL THESE, why bother? They might as well take the easier option... Slow down gradually and take the pothole with ease.
Car Talk / Re: What To Do If You See A Pothole At 100km/hr Speed Or Above? by talkingfingers: 12:01pm On Sep 29, 2012
azpekuliar: If you SUDDENLY sight it, drive right into it while slowing down. Seen avoidable accidents and needless deaths occur just because the driver tried to dodge a pothole he sighted late. Better to end up with damaged rims, suspensions and shocks, than end up in the morgue.

In the event you fail to remember this, three Our Fathers and at least a dozen Hail Marys would do.
Romance / Re: Key Factors For Short-Lived Relationships? by talkingfingers: 9:38am On Sep 27, 2012
Amya: 1. Entering one for the wrong reasons

6. When either of the party are not honest about themselves.

7. When there's so much lies before the relationship solidifies.

8. Multi dating other people.

I couldn't agree any less with you. Mine was plagued by the above, particularly 6 and 8.
Religion / Re: Nigerian Churches: Who Are They Building Universities For? by talkingfingers: 7:03am On Sep 27, 2012
life_style: The offering of the "poor" cannot build a University undecided

Quit trying to be smart. The 'poor' in this case comprises all those who in trying to enrol their kids in these universities would have to part with an arm and a leg at the minimum. Of course, it also includes those who couldn't possibly afford the fees even if they sacrificed more.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Agrees To Reverse N5000 Note Plan by talkingfingers: 1:09am On Sep 20, 2012
If the people have to hold the president to ransom before the right decisions are made, isn't he just an utter waste of time? It beats me how this latest policy reversal has won him any admirers. Can't wait for him to ban NL so we can all rave and rant and make him un-ban it, thereby improving his 'listening skills'. Like he needs anybody pointing out to him how stupid that would be.
