Nobody's talking about the book but their stupid tribes. Retarded people. I remember adding this book to my watchlist even before it was released, I waited so long for it but it was below my expectations. I'll go through it again. |
“Being innocent is a thing where you never give up on yourself,” he said Wrongly convicted man released from prison after 36 years Three people testified that he was asleep at home when the rape occurred. The fingerprints at the scene were not a match. He is several inches shorter than the sole witness’s description of the suspect and the witness didn’t point to him as the suspect in two photo line ups. But he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a 1982 rape and stabbing. Thirty six years later, Archie Williams had his wrongful conviction vacated, as the Innocence Project detailed in a statement. “Being innocent is a thing where you never give up on yourself, you always fight for your freedom no matter what,” Williams said in a video from outside a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, courthouse shared by The Advocate, a New Orleans newspaper. He left the 19th Judicial District courthouse on Thursday joined by relatives including his aunt, who said his mother and father died while their son was in prison. You always fight for your freedom no matter what. “There is no way to quantify the loss and pain he has endured,” Vanessa Potkin, the director of post-conviction litigation at the Innocence Project, which worked on Williams’ case since he reached out to them in 1995, said in a statement. “The Innocence Project fought alongside Mr. Williams for close to two and a half decades to be able to utilize advancements in forensic testing to prove his innocence,” Potkin said in a statement. Williams, who was 22 years old at the time of the rape he was charged with, is now 58 years old. The decades-long gap between his conviction and his charge being vacated included a series of problems complicated by the absence of certain legal rights. https://www.smokedscreen.com/2019/03/man-released-over-wrongful-rape-conviction-after-36-years-in-prison/ Lalasticlala

A new web tool released late last month by the creators of social network Gab touts itself as the “Wild West of the internet,” promising free, unmoderated discourse across all platforms. The application, aptly named “Dissenter,” comes in the form of a browser extension and effectively creates an open comment section on every single web page on the internet. The catch: there is nothing website owners can do to modify, manage, or otherwise control the conversation. Users can install the open-source extension to a number of the most popular web browsers, including Google Chrome and Firefox. Once installed, users can then access a completely unmoderated comment board for each unique web address on the internet. Because these comment sections are hosted by Gab, and simply indexed to individual webpages, users have the freedom to discuss tweets, YouTube videos, news articles, and more without the threat of censorship that comes with commenting on the platforms themselves. “Dissenter has become a necessary tool due to rampant corporate censorship of ordinary internet users, whether that takes the form of YouTube demonetizing millions of videos and removing comment sections, Facebook and Instagram banning British activist Tommy Robinson for his political opinions, or Netflix banning comedy shows at the behest of Saudi princes,” said Gab CEO Andrew Torba in a statement announcing the launch of the platform. Torba later added that the tool is needed now more than ever, claiming that it “puts the power back in the hands of The People to shine a light on propaganda, lies, censorship, corruption, and sophistry across the web.” “Dissenter launches at a time when comment sections are no longer available on every mainstream news site and blog, YouTube is shutting down comment sections while also demonetizing channels over their comment sections and social media censorship is the worst it has ever been,” he added. Having been available to the public for only around two weeks, Dissenter is already facilitating online conversations that would otherwise be impossible. Last week, YouTube comments were disabled during what some are calling one of the most important podcast episodes in history, a conversation between journalist Tim Pool, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Twitter legal executive Vijaya Gadde on the popular Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. Pool grilled the execs about censorship of conservative personalities and ideas on the platform. While viewers were unable to discuss the podcast on its host platform and were hesitant to discuss on Twitter given the subject matter, Dissenter facilitated a conversation of over 4,000 comments, allowing users to discuss the show freely while watching. https://www.smokedscreen.com/2019/03/gabs-new-tooldissenter-allows-users-to-comment-on-any-webpage/ Lalasticlala |
Furious Muslim parents reportedly withdrew 600 children from Parkfield Community School today after claiming they were being ‘brainwashed’ over gay lifestyles. The pupils were taken out of classes as the row surrounding LGBT lifestyles being taught openly in the classroom escalated. Some reports suggest as many as 80 per cent of the children at Parkfield Community School in Saltley have been removed – around 600. Kids have been withdrawn over the school’s “undermining of parental rights and aggressively promoting homosexuality”, according to Alum Rock Community Forum. The forum adds: “Dialogue, petitioning and protests by parents have been repeated and arrogantly ignored. “Our children, Our Choice – Work with parents not against them.” The school has sent out a letter to parents appealing with them to stop the weekly protests for fears it is disrupting and upsetting the children, teachers and families. https://www.smokedscreen.com/2019/03/muslim-parents-withdraw-over-600-students-from-school-over-lgbt-topics/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44

It was reported that the DHS has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor various social networking sites. The list provides a glimpse into what DHS describes as “signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.” The list was posted by the Electronic Privacy Information Center who filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act, before suing to obtain the release of the documents. The documents were part of the department’s 2011 ’Analyst’s Desktop Binder‘ used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify ‘media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities’. The information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats. The Daily Mail’s article noted the Electronic Privacy Information Center wrote a letter to the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counter-terrorism and Intelligence, describing it’s choice of words as ‘broad, vague and ambiguous’ Lalasticlala mynd44 https://www.smokedscreen.com/2019/02/2011-nigeria-was-part-of-words-being-monitored-on-search-engine-by-u-s-dept-of-homeland-security/

Since the Boy Scouts began accepting girls into their ranks this month, The decision to admit girls came after a years-long push for gender inclusivity, scout leadership said. And it came against the backdrop of declining membership for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Before the change, the Boy Scouts had membership of around 2.3 million, while the Girl Scouts reported 1.7 million members. Among them are 17 girls who have formed the first all-female troop in Chester County. They join more than 4,300 others across the country who are now part of Scouts BSA, renamed from the Boy Scouts Others lamented broader societal factors. Appearing on Fox News shortly after the Boy Scouts made their announcement, Wall Street Journal writer William McGurn blamed the “war on boys and masculinity” for forcing the group to allow girls. Over the years, China has become one of the biggest African trade partners. The Chinese have invested billions of dollars into the African continent in form of debts given to these countries. Below is a list of the top ten African countries with the largest Chinese debt: 1. Angola Angola is the most indebted African country to China. It has an estimated debt of over US$25 billion. Shocking, but that’s the reality at hand. Most of Angolan oil is going towards the repayment of Chinese debts, despite Angola being the second largest producer of oil in Africa. 2. Ethiopia All those Chinese infrastructural development projects in the East African country are coming at a heavy price. Ethiopia has an estimated debt of US$13.5 billion. The debt levels have slowed down some projects due to repayment issues, but there is now a new structure for these debts that makes it a little bit affordable for Ethiopia to repay. 3. Kenya Even after the discovery of oil in the northern part of the country, nothing in essence is working towards cutting down the levels of debt to China. Kenya has an estimated debt of US$7.9 billion. The country has been taking money to facilitate the fruition of its infrastructural projects. But as lack of transparency and accountability come into play, a lot of money has been lost to corruption. 4. The Republic of Congo Congo, which may be popularly known as Congo-Brazzaville, has an estimated debt of US$7.3 billion. Again, corruption has played a major role in ballooning the debt to such egregious levels. 5. North Sudan The conflict-torn country has an estimated debt of over US$6.4 billion. Although China has written off the country’s debt incurred in 2015, it still has a long way to go. 6. Zambia Zambia is increasingly getting mired in the tentacles of Chinese debt. The Chinese have sponsored a lot of projects in the country. The country has an estimated debt of US$6 billion. China is taking Zambian firms as part of repayment plans, and there were reports that ZESCO, the national power utility, was being taken over by China, even ZNBC, the country’s national broadcaster. 7. Cameroon Cameroon has an estimated debt of US$5.5 billion. However, it was recently revealed that China was in talks to cancel part of the country’s debt. But with China, nothing is so certain. 8. Nigeria The West African country has an estimated debt of US$4.8 billion. Nigeria has accepted the Chinese yuan as a reserve currency. 9. Ghana Ghana stands at number 9 with an estimated debt of US$3.5 billion. The country’s opposition has involved the IMF to help look into the country’s debt 10. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) The DRC could easily be one of the richest countries in the world considering how it is abundantly endowed with precious natural resources and minerals. However, plundering of these resources has set the country back, including unending conflict. It has an estimated debt of US$3.4 billion. DRC was quick to exchange mineral resources for loans with China. https://www.smokedscreen.com/2019/02/10-african-countries-with-the-highest-debt-to-china/
