iamosamede55: Hi guyz, I'm preparing to reapply to tackle the refusal based on insufficient funds. I have spoken to my sponsor and she is willing to transfer 5m to my accountamd writing to confirm she made that transfer to me to cover my 1st Semester tuition and One year accommodation, which is about 14000 CAD. After this transfer she will have a balance of 4m in her naira account and 8.7m of Treasury bills maturing sept 22. She is also going to going to write that she will b making £4500 available to me quarterly. And a foreign pays slip and soa to that effect. Secondly i spoke to an uncle of mine who is a perm secretary/account general of a state in Nigeria. And he willing to support me to the tune or 2.5m in total and issue a sponsorship letter drafted on his official letter head and signed, along side a sworn affidavit to dat effect. Kindly note that the total amount i have available is 7.5m before my application. My tuition is 24k ane minimum 10k required by cic. Pls what are my chances? you mentioned that your sister have a bank balance of 50,000 GBP in her statement of account, this is quite enough, I believe the problem was the sponsorship offer was not convincing enough. the VO did not believe that those fund in your sister SOA are available to you. All the column for fund were tick in the refusal letter including fund for travel expenses and maintenance. However, I believe you will be fine with this new arrangement You need to obtain your GCMS to ascertain why you were refused |

jayjayjay007: Hi Guys posted this but only got one response. Please I need more opinions im running out of time. To add my undergrad is a 3rd but I did well in my masters which is why I felt I had to add it. Please let me know what you think....
Hello all I am new to nairaland i was adviced to come here for advice and info. Basically i have been offered a place in a school in ontario to study Information systems business analysis graduate certificate for Jan 2017. My issue is that what iv studied previously is not related, also i have a masters. My undergrad is chemical engineering and a masters in engineering project management, both done in the UK. My claim to change my field is that i found what i had studied was an already oversaturated market in nigeria and i had lost interest in pursuing a career in that field. I am also claiming that i was lucky to get employment in a business analyst role and even though i started as an intern, i found that i took to the field really well and have progressed to an entry level permanent position so I really want to grow and develop myself in that field and have an international perspective of the field.
Please I need to know if this reason is good enough as a reason to be switching field and doing a pgc when i have a masters in something else. I am also thinking of saying my project mgt masters can still come in handy in terms of planning, time mgt, leadership and co.
Please I need your advice and suggestions. thank you. happy to be part of the family. In view of what we have witnessed recently with PGC application, I am not convince you application will fly with this Canadian VOs. You need to come up with more convincing reason why you want to change career field, like extra ability, passion and ambition in this field. Changing career and leaving behind you previous career and qualification is a. big deal hence strong reason. Furthermore, you need to go for course that will enhance your career prospect, a PGC will not do for a person with master but you can choose a pre master or a PGD that is a prerequisite for a master and indicate that a master is the goal |

Eraytee: Well said but dis saying: "heaven help dose who help themselves " is never in any page of the bible. Pls any1 with d page whr it is written shud kindly post it. I want 2 read it. It is not literally in the bible but it can be inferred from many instances, like when Jesus wanted to pay tax, he sent Peter to go and fish which he knows how to do very well and God did the rest by making the fish to contain money, he could have send the money down directly but did not. More over the scripture say blessed are those that hunger they shall be filled. you need to demonstrate that you hunger for it by putting your best to get it and God will help you. |

I was bothered and i sent an email to Lagos which the acknowledged..
Now that I am getting dis message from VFS.. are they just sending back our passport to Lagos since 7 weeks plus

easyxtan: @Jmme Let me come in, USA visa is where luck come in more than Canada Visa or UK visa....I have seen many people that Got USA visa on luck, where by such people do not have the necessary document to convince the Canada or UK visa officer. You can pick a shoe marker on the street , package him well with document and he can luckily by God grace get a USA visa , but you cant try that with Canada or UK. In conclusion if you give Canada what they needed, bet me, they will also give you what you need, yes we all know prayer works, but let take it out of visa application and apply right. Most times this is the case, but there are always exceptions to the rule and this is where the God factor come in, MichV calls it luck but in truth it is God that makes the different but it does not mean those that pray most enjoy this miracle or those who do not have not prayed but God decide to intervene based on many factors which include prayer and some of the factors mentioned by michV like God purpose and plan and the like. However You must do you best it you want God to help you as they say heavens help only those that help themselves |

michV: the 29200cad was the remaining part of TOTAL FUNDS AVAILABLE(which included 2nd & 3rd semester tuition fee + accommodation + others) after i deducted my first semester tuition fee i paid which was 7789cad.so the supposed total funds if had never paid 1st sem fee of 7789cad is = 36989cad. so understand the break down that my outstanding funds for the 1yr program is 29200cad.
cc:Tarry Oh I thought the outstanding 29,200 C$ was just tuition balance, I did not understand it includes accommodation and others. sure 10m balance should do but my advice is pursue the MUN MEng, it also comes with funding and tuition is extremely low |

adebayoolatunji: u guys just dey call 10million as if say it's easy to come by.... Na grace of God no be by ur account balance..... Where I go see 10million put for account... yes it is God mercy and grace but we have to try our best to satisfy this Canada VOs. MichV program is a very expensive one with balance of 29,000 C$ after deposit of 7k c$ even at 245 that is over N9m at official exchange rate and you have to factor additional money for accommodation, feeding, book and other, it is a huge investment that the VOs might be hard to convince there is enough money to cover it unless your bank balance is extra fat. Additionally, you need to convince the VO in your sop how the program will add so much value to you to justify such huge financial expenditure when your account balance barely cover the expenses because this VOs unfortunately, don't seem to pay much attention to the cash flow which is the main focus for visa of some country like UK and America MichV refusal was purely because the program was too expensive, the vo did not query money to maintain or transport but to pay the school fees |

Mizbaby: Sorry about your delay. But looking at your application from an UNEMOTIONAL and PRACTICAL point of view, 6.1m in your sponsors account was waaaay too small. If you boost up that account to not less than 10m and apply again, you have 99.99% chance of getting your trv.
It has nothing to do with Pgd or masters admission, I got my trv at first attempt with a one year Pgd in a PRIVATE career college. The long wait is annoying but try again. With the current exchange rate even 10m might not be sufficient fund considering the tuition fee balance, not counting accomodation and maintainance Meng from memorial university will be ideal, low tuition Master program |

Buh. Few things I do not really get and that was why I intend to ask the questions. Few schools I googled most of I saw 86 and above for toefl and considering my toefl which is not up to that. Moreover, does one need to. Submit bank statement also or its after admission has been given And cgpa! What are my chances as well. Hope its not too low boss. Going for Msc Geography for Msc many canadian school do not require toefl, so don't have to bother yourself too much on that You don't need bank statement for admission only when you want to apply for study permit to help you with your cgpa, just as thesoj said, you need to come up with good sop and reference and probably contact a faculty member who will be willing to supervise you |

thesoj: It is indeed possible that some VOs are more lenient with masters applicants. But the thing is we can't yet make that generalization because there may be some masters applicants that have been denied for the same reasons (and in the same situation) as you. Remember that we only have a subset of applicants on this thread so we don't really know the overall statistics. Plus, every application is different and every VO is different as well. Truth is VOs believe Masters is very valuable and easily understand purpose of going for a master at huge expense but not so with pgd, therefore we see frequent denial based on purpose of visit or insufficient fund for pgd/c application |

Those who gets approvals should give a divine thanksgiving to God. sorry michV about your application, I believe it is because you program was pgd. it is obvious vo don't value pgd much and finds it difficult to believe that your mum will commit the required fund on your pgd study based on the closing balance. A master program will have sailed through because they attach more value and believe it is worth it even if your mum spend all her earnings and savings for it. Change to master and your will be fine or let your mum increase the closing balance to over 10m |

justwise: That is the point IF the school approves it and you don't take internship without being an active student.
If you face financial challenges after getting your TRV then defer your admission because there is no point traveling to Canada without money just to break the immigration rule I agree with you that if financial situation changes after getting trv you defer and stay back and if already there, defer and come back home so as not to break the immigration rule but some are compel to travel, defer admission and work there because they cannot raise the money here again. It is not a good thing to do but many do it cause they see it as there only option to study abroad. Must they study abroad? That's another question |

justwise: I'm sorry but all your analysis are wrong regarding this case.
1. You don't apply for leave of absent from your employer just before you even start working with them or a month or two after starting work.
The op wants to travel to Canada to work for a year to save up before starting her studies the next year, you don't do that as a foreign student.
2. You don't compare home students to foreign students, yes home students can suspend their studies and go backpacking but foreign students can't do that unless the school approves it or its part of their course.
3. Your friend has started his course and paid his school fees already before going for internship which was approved by the school but the op hasn't and does not even have the money to start with.
As a foreign student you can not travel to Canada to work for a while using financial difficulties as an excuse because during your study permit application you have provided bank statement showing millions of naira to take of your fees and expenses in Canada and that was one of the reasons why you were given a study permit.
So what happened to those millions you claimed that is available for your studies in Canada? Yes the students visa conditions requires that you must be actively pursuing you studies to maintain status but if you can take a paid internship for a year which is not part of the study requirements and return to complete the study it should be possible to defer your study for a year to work. The basic thing is if the school will approve it and of course you must maintain status by the time you are applying for study permit extension. Also you can have financial challenges after you have obtain trv despite you provided evidence of millions available during you application cause situation can change anytime such as death of the sponsor or sudden financial disaster |

phunshiano: Hello,
This thread has been very helpful, I have a question and I serious bothered. My wife who is currently studying in canada applied for visiting visa for me online. she also applied for an extension of her study permit. she was approved on friday and my own application updated at the same time for a medical request and passport request. is this normal? I have read that you get a medical request first before getting a passport request what does this mean? Also Our child is canadian. For visiting visa you don't usually need medical if you will not be staying for more than six months so its normal to have passport request without medical request, I think the medical request is to determine the conditions of you visa. Did your wife also apply for open work permit |

iamosamede55: I didn't include any personal assets of mine, i just used my job and common law partner as my home tie. Thr admission condition is just to submit a proof of my b. degree , and i mailed the admission office. They replied dat i can submit it before the end of tge first semester, that they do not accept notarized or e copy. That they must view the original and a make a copy themselves. You do not need to include personal assets or personal statement of accounts because you are not self sponsored, these would have been valuable to prove home ties but that was not the problem. The statement of sponsor from your sister is the area that will need work on, it has to be convincing that she will fund your study, but first collect your GCMS it will clarify how the vo came to the conclusion of insufficient fund |

My question is how do I re-present and re-process my application with my current situation as I really do intend to study. I have 8 years work experience as a brand specialist and now convinced that the PGD was not the better choice of study. I have identified schools that can accept 2.2 and I am ready to do this!! Kindly help me with the convincing info/guide to prove my intention to the VO.
I would appreciate objective thoughts so that others in this similar situation can find a way around theirs...... My very distinguished elders (you know yourselves .) I look forward to putting to very good use your advise. Congrats Arcayo! When you have many years work experience and you are going for a PGD/c in the same field as your years of experience, the VO finds it difficult to see how that will enhance your career. The basic thing is to go for a course that will improve your career prospect |

I studied civil engineering and and i want to go in for PGD in construction management.
Lately, somethings have been bothering my mind concerning my application which i am about to put forward for TRV and i need advise from the gurus in the house.
- I have have about 7 years in working experience. Of these 7 Years, i have worked in the financial sector and not in the construction industry. How do i prove to the VO that i am really about studying and not just for the Visa? How do i prove the fact that i have not worked in the engineering sector for years and now i want to study construction management.
- My sponsor is my pastor , how do i prove ties in this regard?
Someone please help .
cc: arcayo, justwise, ngezee and all the gurus in the house PGD applications often works in strange ways, you seem to have more chances with you PGD application without experience in your field than when you have experience in your field. so I say you have good chances. The PGD will be a progression to enhance your prospect of getting job in your field but why not a master degree that will make your chance better. your experience in finance is not a problem it only show you want to get back to your previous degree area of study |
