Mikymiko: Just got refused on insufficient fund to pay for tuition and purpose of visit. Sorry for the refusal, quite sad, more so, considering the effort you put into that application and the lots of document you took time to add to it. I pray the next one will end in praise. Your application was very detailed but may be just a little bit too detailed because it might have allowed the VO to miss some important points in the application. In your next application let your SOP be very concise and address the issue of while studying rural development is very essential to your career progression or future aspiration. On the fund issue, it is always difficult to prove available fund when the sponsor is a third party, why would a sponsor commit such huge amount for the education of a cousin not a sibling or child especially when the cost is going to eat greatly into the sponsor available fund. It is a hard sell and that is what you will have to convince the VO about. You can follow the advice some have given here to have the sponsor deposit substantial amount of money that can cover 1 year expenses into your account, in fact countries like the UK requires that the money be in the applicant account for up to 30 days and this might just help prove the issue of available fund Finally, pray about it and I believe myself and many other are with you in prayer. Please take heart and reapply, I can't wait to hear your testimony |

Teeewhyy: lol, thanks bro for your comment, @ Osemigho actualy tot he was helping so I dont criticise him. Moreover if 2 refusal letters wasnt able to discurrage me I wonder who on earth can. just bcox my Dad doesn't have millions in his account dosn't mean I cann't get my TRV approved. Your motivation and drive is well understood but you are taking a tough option in your pursuit. I have seen many tried this path at undergraduate level and come short, most did not complete their studies. I know someone that got tuition paid for two years but still dropped out the third year when the sponsor could not pay again despite that she was working. Even at postgraduate level people use to defer their program for a year in order to raise tuition money in those days but that is not an option now. 8,800 CAD is a tough ask to pay a year for someone at your level when you have to pay for feeding and accommodation not counting transport and other expenses out of whatever you earn from the work you do. I understand your passion but your best bet is to complete your undergraduate here and then proceed for your postgraduate studies abroad because if you drop out of school over there it is going to adversely affect your future. There are many just hustling now because they dropped out and they can no longer regularize their stay. Concerning your application, the VO was not convince that your sponsor will really sponsor you because it is such a huge investment and they are not your parents. your sponsor fund is quite sufficient, but the truth of the sponsorship is what is in doubt. Your sponsor need to justify why spending so much on your studies and do a convincing affidavit of sponsor. |

Humility01: Dear all,
c @Tarry and @justsaypie, can I apply from the US with Nigerian documents and Naira bank account? My domiciliary account is not so cool because I use it only occasionally. By all standard your application should have been approved, sometimes you don't understand the basis for these VOs decision. It is very easy to visit Canada while you are in the US and the processing time is usually less than two weeks thought CIC website states 20 days, so as soon as you arrived the US visit either the visa office in Los Angels or New York and apply and state that you also wish to visit Canada before returning to Nigeria. Attach your return ticket to Nigeria and the return ticket reservation to Canada plus the hotel booking. You can use your Nigeria statement of account but also add your domiciliary account with enough money for the trip because that shows fund accessible since the Nigeria account is not longer accessible abroad. All the best |

Humility01: Dear all,.
Just decided to share the story of my application. I hope to reapply again when I come back from the US. Apply again while you are in the US, and attach your return ticket to US. You stand a very good chance of getting the TRV while in the US and you are eligible to apply as a visitor to the US |

You don't need medical for visit visa and its a good thing you did not waste money on that, however, your application had little chance of approval. since you are single you need to get a good source of income to stand a chance |

Chrissybaybee: Hello my dear brothers and sisters, I've been silent on the thread because I was really scared after I submitted my application. TBH, I was not even reading posts here again so I don't get sad and discouraged. I was truly scared. I mentioned here once that I was sure I was going to get my msc admission to UOIT but my dear friends, I was not accepted . But while I was waiting for that UOIT admission, something in me prompted me to apply to Durham college for a similar course I intended studying in UOIT just in case. I was very reluctant to apply to Durham because I was too sure about UOIT (I met their admission requirements or so I thought) but eventually I did and got their acceptance letter in 4days lol. As sad and as reluctant as I was in applying for my TRV with my PGC admission because of all I had seen here & being that this was my second application though the first was PGD in HRM which was not what I studied in my undergraduate years, I summoned up the courage to put up a good application (not the best) and I went ahead to submit. I prayed and asked my God to do the rest for me despite what man says and as a God who never fails, He didn't let me down. I got my approval mail this morning, I also tracked and saw passport dispatched. I did upfront medicals. Truly, God answers prayers and does things in His own way and at His own time. Though PGC was not what I really wanted, who am I to complain. I believe I will still achieve the best with this. The way my parents are happy ehnnn, its as if they are the ones traveling. They are even happier than I am. I want to thank you all for your contributions; MichV, arcayo, Tarry & everyone else. I want you all to know that God's ways are not man's ways.
I will list the documents I submitted and how I tried to tackle the refusal reasons in my first application. Congratulations, your application was really loaded |

oscarpellenchy: Thanks so much for the responses @ Yemdogg, Folaroyal ,Michv .... To set the records straight, the applicant is my wife, and that is her first application to Canadian embassy, she also did not apply for any scholarship whatsoever, she applied and made the hubby and kids as home ties.Tuition deposit for one semester fully paid was $7000. Program applied for was PGD Accounting. She is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with 7 years experience in the Banking industry.HND graduate with ACA. Hubby is the sponsor with some 8million in sponsor account, with another salary account of balance 1.2million..sponsor (hubby)provided all letters of appointment, ID card and office instruments.,Landed document and Stocks. Her own personal account balance of 100,000. Letter of appointment from her work,Her office ID card and others. Hope to hear more of your responses on this pls. Obviously there was a mix up in the gcms note but that does not mean a mix up in the decision. first option is to write them about the gcms error and request for another one, however concerning the application your wife chances of approval is very low with the pgc program best bet for her is an MBA which she can also easily gain admission and improve her TRV prospect |

RichardNnamdi: My sponsors closing balance is $1800... But his salary is $3thousand+ weekly... Money flows in and out your sponsor balance is quite low but I think you still have a good chance because first he has paid your tuition fee and secondly he is based in Canada and on good income. What VO are concern about is ability to meet the financial requirement and this is evidently the case with your sponsor |

justwise: You lied already and this is what I don't understand about we Nigerians, you have the money to give birth in Canada, it's not against the law to give birth in Canada and when asked you said visiting mean while you are actually going to give birth.
We are really not helping our image as Nigerians I remembered this issue came up before, I understand your insistent on saying the truth, I really hope we can be more truthful in this country but sometimes expediency demands that you do not volunteer certain information that was not directly requested if it will jeopardize your mission. Yes the main purpose of travel is child birth but you are also visiting and pragmatism can make you present your answer to appear more acceptable though you are not divulging full information A man share his madam experience on this forum when she was refused entry because she said her purpose of coming to Canada is to give birth and she did not indicate it earlier in her application. I think it will be foolhardy to say you were coming to give birth in Canada at the POE if you have not previously indicated so in your application but then one should endeavor to indicate so in the application since it is not against their law, the only difference is the required available fund will be higher |

let's not forget I was refused on personal asset and financial status basis too. although I submitted a letter of administration from FCT high court stating that I'm the administrator of my dad's assets. I'm not the only child,i have an elder sister who is married with kids Obviously something was not clear or properly understood by the vo in you application' how can he tick insufficient fund for tuition when you have paid for tuition We must not assume this vo easily understand things and one must try to be as clear as possible You need to request for your gcms to really know what went wrong |

mayor05: I have been following this thread from the concluding part of part10. I applied for study permit in may(17) with an admission letter from seneca college to study applied electronics design(1yr program). My undergraduate degree is Elect/elect Eng(second class lower division).Made full payment of tuition to seneca and submitted a proof from the school with my visa app docx. submitted a bank statement of 10m(my late dad's account, which I'm a signatory to) On the 14th of September I was refused without a call for medicals. On getting my passport yesterday, I was refused on 'insufficient funds' basis and personal asset. did I forget to say I made a payment of CAD11k with my tuition hoping that I can get a refund when I get to canada to use sort my accommodation cos I anticipated nigeria's present economic woes. So to be refused on such basis was unthinkable. well I'm starting my refund processing immediately. just felt I should share my case. you guys are doing a great job on here, well done. Sorry about your refusal, it is funny that after you have paid for tuition they say insufficient fund to pay tuition. What I think you should do is move the money from your late dad account into your personal account bearing your name, you can mention it is fund inherited from your late dad. This is important since you cannot obtain letter of sponsor from your late dad. don't pay more that the tuition because the fact you will seek refund of the excess you paid above tuition may make the vo think you will be seeking refund of almost all your tuition after receiving study permit wish you success in your next application, and I think you should reapply again and quickly since purpose of visit, employment situation and personal asset were not ticked in the refusal |

Why on earth did you say I should leave Nigeria for a diploma course in Canada.
Bsc and Diploma which one big pass?
I am interested in Msc and not diploma, if you have any reason for mentioning Diploma, then I am all ears.
Thank you Note, I have already applied for Msc in U of M, I plan to apply in one other university To stand a double chance , if you give me a strong reason why you mentioned Diploma, I can give it a try since I have already applied for Msc Don't make the mistake of applying for diploma, if you don't want heart ache. Apply for Msc in the other university to increase your chances of getting admission, the diploma route is a very risky route full of delay |

greatlifeis89: Hello Guyz, CIC just got back to me...................MY APPLICATION WAS REFUSED.
Reasons ticked: 1) Purpose of visit 2) Current Employment situation.
I will request for my GCMS file...............but seriously, i am surprised they ticked those 2 reasons.
I am work in one of the big four professional service firm, My course (PGC-Fraud examination and Forensic Accounting) is directly related to my job (External auditor for 3 years, Forensic auditor for a year). i am a highflyer. i attached my last promotion letter............i was promoted on the scale of exceeding expectation (EE). I drafted a detailed and convincing SOP.
My company even wrote a letter stating that i am going to canada to study.
I will update this forum on the documents i submitted (quite much), when i get back to lagos.
My biggest constraint is Time. Sorry about your refusal, sometimes Canada refuse applicant because they believe you level is already above the certificate course you are going for and they do not see it as a progression or that it will improve your career with the years of experience you already have in that field, that is why they mention Current Employment situation along with purpose of visit. M.SC will be ideal for you |

michV: i have a question to ask and if this two monikers are present,i would highly appreciate your input @favour001 and @brandymcmb and others who might have had such experience.. how did you explain in your SOP your sudden switch from PGC(d) to Masters program? or does it mean there is no need for such than just to apply with the masters admission and state the benefit of the program to your career and why you chose the program? i just feel to ask this question now it's still fresh in my mind Why don't you reapply with the pgc and increase the money in your sponsor account to at lease 10m, I believe you will get it then since it was only insufficient fund for tuition that was ticked in your refusal letter. unless you really want to go for the master program, I think you should reapply with your present document and only increase your sponsor closing balance. |

Mikymiko: Some people had submitted their employment letter/introduction and were denied based on current employment situation and others, Do you think the date on the employment letter /introduction may have contributed to their refusal vis-a-vis current employment situation? You are missing letter of introduction with employment letter and this make it difficult for people to advice you. you should update the letter of introduction to show your present employment situation especially if it is more than 6 months old. Letter of employment must remain the same except you have change employment |

thesoj: PS: I recognize that you were trying to paint a realistic picture, my issue was the excessive pessimism which you began to correct with each subsequent response to me. Btw, I won't toot my own horn about how I know what I know about both Canada and the US (in the interest of anonymity). But paradoxically, the fact that I live in the US doesn't mean I know it all about the US, actually I don't. My living in the US doesn't make me an expert on everything US-related, contrary to your view that living in a country means your views on how things run in that country are accurate. I wouldn't be on this thread if where you live is directly proportional to your knowledge about that place. There is not much difference between what both of your are saying @shinarambo1 was talking about the reality on ground, of course there will always be exception but that is the experience of majority. Definitely your point is also valid because there have be some that have had better and different experience to this but they are not in the majority. Both your view are quite true but your are addressing different issues. shinarambo1: advice is based of majority experience while your view is equally true that the possibilities exist of people faring better than this majority experience |

It understandable your moving to FSW they will appreciate your knowledge and experience about immigrating and settling in Canada more but the knowledge you have shared here is quite valuable and though not applicable to people on this thread since they desire to be international students but no knowledge is lost. Can i renew my passport before travelling in 2017? will i have to apply for a new visa? or can i just travel renew my passport in canada and apply for study extention i will appreciate help in these areas please. shinarambo1: So you have never heard of international phd holders and medical doctors driving cabs or working security jobs in canada? That's reality. Canada has a small economy for a developed country hence good jobs are competitive. People working in regulated professions like medicine, pharmacy, nursing, accountant e.t.c have no problem "if and only if" they can pass the usually very difficult evaluating/conversion exams. e.g when i say difficult, i mean i have seen a Phd holder in mechanical engineering failing the engineering evaluation exams, a director of pharmacy from a general hospital in Ghana failing the exams e.t.c
Like you have rightly said, not only "nigerian" certificates but those from other countries including EU or US as well are downgraded by canadian employers. Canadians usually have a national pride, hence hold anything from their country (even province) in high esteem than others. e.g a degree from an Ontario instituition would be looked more upon in good faith by an ontario based employer than say a similar or exact degree from an instituition in Manitoba and vice versa. This is true, many immigrant find it difficult to get good job in Canada with their foreign certificate and end up with menial jobs but many after some professional exam or certificate course in Canada were able to get good job. The secret is do a course in Canada to improve your chance of getting good jobs |

michV: @Tarry can an engineer do MBA too or would it seem inconsistent at Accra embassy strong head? Actually even a medical doctor can do MBA, any profession can do MBA, that's why it is usually interdisciplinary, to help in setting up your own business in your profession. I know a man that made studying MBA compulsory for all his children which include lawyer and doctor but then those Canada VOs might not see it that way. You have to convince them in your SOP why you are going for the program |
