Tamaris1: Your prayer does not hold water! You think you understand the Bible so well but you don't!! Let me start from the old testament: you will notice that a man was never made for just one woman. Abraham, Jacob (even married two sisters), Moses, David, Solomon, and the Kings of Israel had many wives and concubines. Sarah gave her maid to Abraham to sleep with. Leah gave her maid to Jacob to sleep with; also Rachael gave her maid to Jacob for have sex with him. Women then understood the nature of men and were not as jealous as we have it now! A woman that slept with a man other than her husband was to be stoned to death. Such law never applied to men (a man was to be killed only if he slept with another man's wife). Then to our African tradition: a man's worth was not measured only in terms of wealth and riches; but also in terms of the number of wives he had. But it was a taboo for a woman to go outside (and sleep with another man). Even fellow women will severely punish her. I know you will say, "but the Bible says: "If anyone desires the office of a Bishop, ......, Deacon, Elder, etc...... he must be husband of one wife"". I agree with you; but that statement implies that there were people in the early church who had more than one wife (if not the commandment won't have been necessary). what does the new testament have to say about polygamy? |
Family › Re: A Cheating Husband Is Not The Worst Thing That Can Happen In Marriage. by Tay16(f): 7:20am On Jun 05, 2015 |
BABE3: didn't he though? Those polygamous men of God in the old testament? David, Solomon and Co. And that era came to an end didn't it? ,Monogamy is a direct result of civilization. Religious values change as a result of change in societal values; not the other way around. No one got punished by God for having more than one wife in the bible. But nowadays, polygamy is a sin.
If you look at it from a purely biological point of view, men's biggest sexùal problem is to inhibit themselves from èjaculating too soon. Women biggest sexùal problem is èjaculating at all. The single most sexùal organ, clitòris, malfunctions like no man's business.
So did God want men to enjoy sèx more? Leading to having multiple sexùal partners? #justasking. lets speak from reality now, have you always been the one and only or the second best in all your relationships? |

sunnydayasaba: For most men, the reason they get married is for companionship. So if he finds u gud enough to be his companion, then border not abt his cheating habit, but guide him better and talk with him if u suspect that he's cheating. Show how much of a gud companion ur to him. That's why he married U May the same be done to you, when your wife turns you into nothing more than a sperm collector and starts trying out bigger sizes out there, since cheating isnt the worst thing that can happen in a marriage |

tpiadotcom: Likewise why do people insist on sharing fake life stories which nobody asked them?
There IS a fiction section if you must write by all means ?
OR you could add a disclaimer to your unsolicited tales?
The truth about all these things is very disturbing. but don't you think it a bit high school like to give yourself a headache over what someone else portrays online? The person doesn't pay your bills and you don't pay their bills, so why make their life or rather fake life your responsibility? |
Family › Re: Why Do Nairalanders Lie So Much? by Tay16(f): 8:49am On Jun 03, 2015 |
Truth be told no one owes anyone any explanation. Nairaland is a faceless forum and everyone can act like someone else. No one owes the other a true story about their life. |

Hey for those studying in Canada I wanted to ask you something. I have a sister studying in the UK and she told me that when she did her Undergrad her bank (Barclays) offered her educational funding of up to £3,000 as an international student, do Canadian banks offer the same packages to international students there?

NigerianNewbie: Hello everyone. I would like to find out a thing or two.
Although I know this is based on the individual, how much do you think is ok for personal expenses for a year in Canada, excluding accommodation? A range will be fine.
Also, I'm heading to Ottawa. Is 800 CAD too much to pay for accommodation per month? It is a campus suite which I will call fully serviced: heat, water, laundry, gym, furniture, Internet, full bathroom but sharing room with 1 person. Should I look to get lower? I hear housing in Ottawa is generally quite affordable.
@Kepner you're heading to Ottawa as well right. Any thoughts?
I'd appreciate some responses. Thank you. check your school website for an estimate of costs it usually shows how much you may need for the year for everything |
