justwise: Is that all that is needed in that form?
SIGNATURE ON THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

That's all...@all filling the UK online application form, when you get to the last page requiring your signature, in that signature space, just type your given and surname and submit. Print out the form, the signature space will appear blank, you can sign in that blank space on the hard copy of the application form.

I hope this helps as several people have been asking questions on how to go about this stage.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by TCann(m): 3:21pm On Apr 30, 2013
justwise: Having huge amount of money in your account will not get you a visa if you can not explain the source of the money with convincing paper evidence.

How will you convince the embassy that you earn 120k a month as a salary which is about N1.2m a year and N3.8M in allowances in a year?

Well...i don't believe that, other members can advice you.

Good luck.

No Justwise, you re not getting the gist clearly,

She earns about 120k monthly totaling abt 1.4 million per annum, plus the balance of abt 3.6 million in allowances staggered throughout the months of the year.(It doesnt mean she has all that money in her account and that the money come in as a bulk payment) The payment for allowances narrates in her bank statement as one coming from her employer (just like the narration for her monthly salary

This sytle being used by her employer is known to the UK embassy as most of their staff travel to UK alot both for personal visits and official trainings). It doesn't mean she has every of the 3.6 million in allowances paid at a go- That's what i mean.

The main issue is her previous refusal b4 she got this work....2 issues- she claimed a trader status (majorly refused on that note) and was to be sponsored by her aunt. She was single then and still is now.

Hope it will not count against her? Btw between the last 2 yrs when she was refused and date, she's gone to SA and Dubai like twice each.

Thank you.

Concerning her documentation- she has her monthly payslips, confirmation letter, letter of permission to travel to the UK from HR, letter from her employer introducing her to the Consulate as their staff and other documents.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by TCann(m): 2:28pm On Apr 30, 2013
justwise: Will her payslip and bank statement show that she earns 5millions per annual without any other money from unexplained source?
Her payslip shows her monthly income of about N120k per month while the other emoluments are in form of allowances, which her bank statement will capture as the monies re being paid in quarterly through a year. It is a known fact that the embassy has an administrative notice of her employer and their style of payroll administration. (her employer is quite a big one in Nigeria).
Kindly address the other issues raised in the earlier post (I don't think money is a problem in her case).
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by TCann(m): 9:31am On Apr 30, 2013
Hi Justwise,

My friend intends to apply for the UK visa after 2 yrs of an earlier refusal. Between the 2 years and now, she has gone to south africa, dubai all in all about 4 times. Then she applied as a trader cos she hasn't gotten employment (they told her she didnt have registered business and tax clearance) and she was then sponsored by her aunt. But now she is working & she will be self sponsored with an emolument of 5million per annum. she intends to apply again now after the 2 yrs wait, what do u think her chances are? She is single.

candylips: lol the fisher man and big boys theory plays out in majority of peoples life.

but i think most people will rather have it this way.

reason may be because.

When u are old and retired you should take life slow and enjoy the rest of your days

When u are young and active. you should explore your intellect to the fullest, become the best you can be in your career.

living a fishermans' life all ones life sucks actually especially when u are young and restless
Hmmmmm, so what does it amount to - the cyclical existence- what has been gained? the professionalism over the years? the 4am wakings and 11pm chicken sleepings to wake again for 4am. No time for family and friends. The near stroke almost occasioned by the corporate lifestyle. What are our life priorities? How useful are the Financial modellings, the Monte Carlos models at the end of the day on a beach prolly somewhere in Epe or Florida? Maybe just to sit on the beach and reminisce all your achievements and office politics played. Most won't even take up mentoring or volunteer lecturing to pass down what they ve acquired in the yrs of office politicking, practical technical knowledge acquired that schools dont and possibly can't teach.

Candylips, you see.....nothing dey der!! cos those "most people" that you re referring to use half of their lives and lots of resources to school, in preparation to work and climb the ladder of the corporate world (with the attendant happenings- both the bad and not too bad, in btw those thirty something yrs) and and back to the question- AFTER THEN, WHAThuh

I'll tell you the story of a friend's pop very soon.

AjanleKoko: ^^
Curious question. Why is ICAN necessary for a career in IB?
I don't really see the direct relevance, other than the accounting qualification. Maybe a masters in Finance?
Bros, Longest time...permit me to disagree abit with that view point. Reason? From my cursory observation of the labour employment landscape in Naija o, I have had to come to the following conclusions:

1. The top available openings are majorly biz admin/ management related backgrounds ones (Cos why would Vet docs, engineers, architect after obtaining their degrees wind up in Wyse & PYE tution houses to take ICAN and ACCA?)

2. It is a very wrong view to think ICAN's ACA qualification is just a mere accounting relevant qualification. It does so much more! (I know you know- i think you re just pulling legs, even in your telco sector there, several of them took the exams with us then. we were students then and they were already working in places like MTN and Celtel- we could sense their desperation to pass, some even would tell you what awaits them when and if they qualify for the ACA)

3. As a fresh graduate, the doors that ICAN's ACA qualification may open for you IN NAIJA, a Masters may not quickly open it (though after entry, you may have a bit of an edge as a Msc holder, grade placement wise ( but not necessarily promotion)- This is obtainable in most companies and even the banks, ask them sir!

4. As per our friend in PE2 that I advised to finish his ICAN, bros you know how it works na, he doesnt have to jump straight into the Investment portfolio role upon finishing NYSC, his ACA will most def grant him an audience with the likes of PwC, KPMG or even the medium ones as Dafinone, SIAO etc, these places are good training grounds, boys have done 2 to 3 yrs in KPMG to move on to higher beautiful roles in other beautiful companies with some mouth watering stuffs. These other companies know the stuff they re made of and the value addition the guys are bringing on board. (Am not saying without ACA, PWC or KPMG will not allow you for a test, but i think your chances are better with it or even almost completing it)

5. The fluidity at which ACA holders (fresh or entry level 0-4 yrs) move at the presentation of a better opportunities between jobs have not been matched in our labour market (except those that have experience 5-10 yrs are those that record similar fluidity) I know of a friend that changed 3 'good' jobs within the space of one yr, getting a quadruple of the 1st job offer on the 3rd job- just Bsc, ACA, 1 yr exp. His is still on the 3rd job and adding MBA& some other prof qualifications before moving again.

In conclusion, let me disclaim the above,(lol) as there is no hard and fast rule to these issues in life. what works for Kola may not necessarily work for Bayo. I am a very good example. This life is just with several twists and turns. I'll just enjoin our brothers & sisters soon to plunge into the market to keep focus, stick to your God, take the job search thing as a full time endeavor, put your all into it, if you haven't concluded your NYSC, start applying right from NYSC, package your cover letter, CV and copies of your credentials and put them in clean envelopes and invest money to either dispatch it to the HR directors of the companies you have earmarked to reach or go there and drop it in person. Wisely spend your money during service as i expect you to use your money more to package CVs and travel to drop CVs and attend tests than buying blackberries and taking girls to eateries.

God bless you all.

what should i be doing now when i am in school? i need good friends in this field to associate with.i promise to be a good character
Keep focus on your ICAN and don't for one second derail from qualifying....when you graduate plus your ACA, beautiful things will def happen.(buh you still have a lil assignment to do, starting from the 1st day of your NYSC towards getting your dream job...)

BTW...what are you graduating with? 2.1 or 2.2? God bless you.
InvestmentRe: Top 10 Best Nig. Investment Banks In This Meltdown Period? by TCann(op):
violent: The choice to move back home after an Ivy MBA, for most people is due to personal preference to be at home....not because they couldn't get a choice job after graduation. While staying in the West may bring you some good wealth and healthy career prospects, it takes you away from your friends, family and the life you are used to. For many people, this is a big factor! [size10pt] Rencap wouldn't pay you 15k dollars a month, but at least you may potentially earn 2 million naira a month and enjoy the comforting feeling that comes with being home!

If you expect to earn the good returns for your Ivy MBA, then it makes sense to stay in an environment that is ready to pay for it. If you don't plan staying in such an environment due to family attachments and personal obligation, then you may have to reconsider the objectives of investing in an MBA!
grin grin grin grin....an ivy leaggie's monthlies is another kpako guy's side hustling returns in a month (still keeping the day time job) Just marvel most times at the human's path...spend so much time, energy, money, life-pausing on MBAs, CFAs etc to 'earn' what, to become what? employee? What nexthuh??

Our quests and race in life always reminds me of a story i read sometimes ago on FB- big boys from wall street high finance, had a plane crash and got rescued by some fishermen. On the trip to the shore, the finance guys, despising the easygoing, non-paced, time oblivious lifestyle of the fishermen, asked them whether the wouldn't love to go the school, get a good MBA, work for Goldman Sachs and earn millions other than just 'lazying' on the island and doing nothing else than fishing all day. The fishermen in response, asked the Finance guys, what is their plan after retirement...they responded saying- they would use all their millions to get a small beach condo, walk around on the beach and enjoy the breeze generally and fish. The fishermen men said that is exactly the life they are leading now and what would they need the millions for againhuh?

A man will work for 30 something years rising to become a director, ED and upon retirement, now ends up to set up and run a 'pure water' factory or poultry......

Most times, I don't understand this life sef!

Thanks Mapol, I really do not have a serious technical mechanic for my 02 xterra since i have not had to do anything on the mechanical aspects of the truck hence just the normal mechanic that can fix anything on a SUV is the type I use. Sorry, Hope you have been able to fix the stuff.

Is that supercharger in the pic above in a 04 xterra? Cos that engine doesn't look like a 02 engine Btw I ve not seen a supercharger in a 2002 exterra before.

Cheers.

I know that some Xterras come with d supercharger thingy, but how will an average person who wants to get an Xterra know that it is a supercharged model when & if it is NOT pasted on the back or anywhere on d ride?
BTW d fact that my ride doesn't pick speed fast enough doesn't mean it does not 'tear race' after completing d transmission to gear 4 o, don't try it. My only concern is that I feel it shd pick speed faster from an idle or stationery mode than it is doing right now!

xterras and other truck based SuVs have never been made for speeding,(I can't say for crossovers and other hybrids) I once did a top speed of 120-130km/h around d time I just got d truck from Ib to lag (& I was a bach then) now I do btw 80-100km/h on any joni, even 3rd mainland bridge jonis to d office (madam and child dey house na) grin

Pls I need your suggestions and contributions on this transmission matter. Actually, there's nothing wrong with d SUV, only that I feel the transmission is lazy in picking d higher gear. For instance, if u throttle down to move, an average pathfinder or isuzu rodeo or 1999-2000 model 4runner picking up at that same time would have gone past me (even fellow xterras of the same year model would gazz past me). Could there be a reason for this laziness of the transmission? Can anything be done about this situation in terms of transmission
servicing? OR bluntly speaking, am I the one feeling so?

Summary of the issue is...for me, it doesn't pick up speed quick enough when at idle or 0 rpm and d gear drags a lil too long o gear 1 before transmitting it to gear 2.

Thanks in anticipation of your suggestions.
Car TalkRe: Nissan Xterra Owners Forum by TCann(m): 9:50pm On Dec 18, 2012
@all
Good to be back here...in as much as I ve psyched myself to flip my 2002 Xterra for a 4runner, I ve not been able to bring myself to do it. The ride though not luxirious, is a faithful, average cheap-for-an-SUV maintenance and generally ok ride.

To help out fellow forumites,
If u re having my 'AC is on and my truck is overheating in this sunny Lagos traffic' issue with ur Xterra even after changing ur radiator to a double cell, I had a similar problem and my mechanic worked on my water pump rotor that is annexed to ur radiator fan, just to make it tighter and firmer and since then, I ve not had my truck overheat again even inside a 3hr sunny traffic.

Also, u may encounter a ball joint issue on either your upper or lower arm, it starts by making this creeking embarrassing sounds on ur front tyres. Not all mechanics can fix it and as a matter of fact, some of them inspite of d fact that they cant fix it, will still be draining u dry. In my research, I realized that there re some specialist mechanics whose specialty is to do ball joints, absorbers, power steering alone on your car (I got d contact of one at around Iyana-isolo). This specialists are gurus when it comes to suspension system palava of your vehicle. Anybody that needs specific mobile shd ask and I'll supply.

I'll be back....to be continued!

Thks @nissparts & youngchopper, I was fortunate to have a good bro as a dealer who bought my Xterra for me from d states. In the past 2 yrs that I have owned and driven the Xterra, I have been grateful. So far, I have not seen anything crazy (anyway in mine sha) in d fuel consumption of d Xterra o, considering the fact that its an SUV and a V6, u can't just compare it with a sedan I4 or V6 and of course, things an Xterra will do for u in some situations, a sedan won't be able to deliver that performance!
Sorry, back to d issue, why could it be slow in picking up speed?
'Service engine soon' light will always come up again soon as u clear it with d computer, I guess majorly because Nissan generally including d Xterra are highly electrical and sensitive vehicles and just about any mundane issue can trigger the 'service engine' light on.
