Maynman: Yes it did. the actual sign and it’s fulfillment –– the undoing and failure of the alliance of Rezin & Syria and Pekah & Israel against Judah –– was to occur while the son born to that young maiden was still in young childhood, still eating soft sweet foods, and still too young to know right from wrong. THAT is the prophecy and that is the sign. Wrong. Let me get you, you are saying that the mighty God, the price of peace, the Everlasting Father was born by a virgin in the days of Isiah? |

“the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.” My kingdom is not of this world Jesus said. |

Maynman: in Isaiah 7:14. Here, Isaiah wrote, quite uncontroversially, that “the young woman is with child”, but this Hebrew text was mistranslated into the Greek Septuagint (LXX) as “a virgin will conceive”.
The “young maiden” in 7:14 is already pregnant or shortly will be, and she’s known personally to both Ahaz and Isaiah.
The son who would be born to her, according to the “sign,” she would actually name “Immanu’el” –– as his actual, proper, given, called-by name. That’s the proper name that his mother will name and call him. No he did not, it was a promise of things to come. |

Maynman: Ignorance is not Bliss.
Isaiah 7:14 is totally contextual, contemporary and topical to Isaiah and Ahaz, and to the Syrio-Ephraimic crisis with Rezin and Pekah.
Don’t read v. 14 unless you’re willing to begin with 7:1 and continue, in context, thru to the actual pronouncement of what the actual “sign” really is, in vss. 15–16 ff….
“15. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings….” THAT is the sign and the fulfillment: the land of that alliance between Israel and Syria, while the child born to the young maiden was still in young childhood, would be forsaken of both her kings – Pekah and Rezin. What's your point here? 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. |

Maynman: The tanakh never said so, maybe in the king james VERSION you are reading.
In the original Old Testament Hebrew “almah” simply means “young woman.” After the Exile the Hebrew books had been translated into Persian Aramaic, and then in the third century BC they were translated from that into Greek, called the Septuagint, where “almah” becomes “parthenos,” which meant “virgin.” But that’s not in the original. There’s a different, specific word for a virgin, “bitullah,” which isn’t used here. Well we are not reading from the same books and we don't share the same beliefs. |

Christianity Etc › Re: If God Has A Son.... by tctrills: 9:21pm On Jan 21, 2023 |
Maynman: You are the one making the claim.
Immanuel was born during the days of king Ahaz. This was approximately 700+ years prior to the birth of Jesus.
Immanuel was the younger sibling of Shearjashub who was Isaiah’s first son (cf. Isaiah 2:3). Hence, ruling out the notion that Immanuel was born of a virgin. What claims are my making? The bible tells us that Jesus Christ is Immanuel not me. |

The government was never at Jesus's shoulder throughout his time in Israel. I am not sure of what you are asking. Jesus said my kingdom is on of this world. Isaiah spoke of Christ, calling him the Everlasting Father that's my point. |

No!
So how will Jesus have son in heaven or on earth? Bro, I remembered a verse in the bible that could help you with your question. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. If Jesus Christ is the Everlasting Father, he is not sterile, he has his children. |

TruthHurts100: Sir, refer to all my responses, I've taken time to explain, I don't know if you are pretending not to see.
It's even a waste of time. You said your own eternal father was not created but he has a father abi? Abeg sir, I no get time. Oga let's be honest, you never answered any of my questions. It this is what you meant by bring it on, then anyone can post anything and claim he has answered all questions. Rather than answer my questions you made claims you could not defend. 1. You said your bible translation is the correct one. I am still waiting for you to prove that. 2. You called Adam the dethroned everlasting Father. I asked how you came about that and you can't answer. It's easy to type anything when you don't have to defend it. I can as well tell you that heaven is in the Sahara desert. |

TruthHurts100: I can't waste my time. Everything you're asking is what I've explained. If that is not enough, you don't need to accept anything from me.
But your eternal father said on uncountable times that he has a father that is greater than he is. This nullifies any idea of equality between a creation and his creator.
Selah. Boss please with the bible, show that Adam used to be our Eternal father. I love guys like you on Nairaland. You start like you have all the answers and you know everything. You ended your post with "bring it on" like a boastful wrestler. I was hoping you would have at least a few answer. Most of you on Nairaland are the same, you post a talking point from your pastor and you get offended when you meet people with different opinions. Mind you, I believe that the Father is greater than the son. |
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Jesus Are Not The Same Or Equal. by tctrills: 2:38pm On Jan 21, 2023 |
TruthHurts100: It's not my translation but other translationS. The translationS I use don't contradict.
Jesus was referred to as everlasting or eternal father for this reason. A father brings a child to life or we can say gives life to a child. Adam was our eternal father, but instead of giving us life, he gave us sin, sickness and death. Jesus is the Last Adam 1 Corinthians 15:45. He is the one that has given us life by given up his own for us. And the life he's given us will give us the opportunity to live eternally.
To your third point, Him being an everlasting father doesn't mean he has no beginning, it means he's a life giving spirit that cannot have an end. And it's only his father that has given him all these powers and privileges. 1. You still have not proved that you are using the right translation. 2. Oga you said Adam is your eternal father? Please explain what made Adam an eternal father. Who is an eternal Father. 3. Yes we know Jesus Christ is the Last Adam but still explain how Adam was your eternal father. 5. Yes a father gives you life or brings you to life, but what is the difference between a father and an eternal father. 6. Oga please anything that is everlasting has no beginning or end. 7. I am still waiting for you to use the bible and not your own opinion to show that Adam was our eternal father. |

TruthHurts100: You refused to acknowledge the scripture I quoted sir.
But I will respond to yours. Everlasting father. Hmmmm, Adam was supposed to earn that title but he failed. Jesus is the new Adam, the one that always obey his creator. So, Jesus is our Everlasting father, who was created also by God, who he said is greater than he is.
How far?
That scripture you quoter also referred to Jesus as the Mighty Father. Mighty father and Almighty Father are not the same. And nowhere in the Bible was Jesus referred to as Almighty. Never.
He was created, so, he can never be equal to his creator. Àbi? Table and carpenter na equal? 1. I asked you to explain why you think your translation is correct. 2. It's clearly your opinion that Adam was to be the Everlasting Father. The Bible never indicated such. 3. An Everlasting being has no beginning or end. Or how else would you define everlasting? |
