Now you have reasulted in hiding behind technicalities..... a whole spec ops team was kicking down doors and shooting on nigerian soil and you are here hiding behind 'they were not leading' seriously....
what happened in that mission is even worse than the incident outside US embassy entrance....
and who said they took over? I have already shown that earlier the kenyan team took there ecidence long b4 the FBI even showed up... i postt the pic again below..

So a president can loose his seat if someone manages to snap a pic of foreign troops raiding a house with assault riffles (whether they were leading the assault or not), just for the sake of the pride and ego of the people... but he cant loose his seat when militants are blowing up pipelines on a serial level running down the economy?

maybe this seems amusing to you becuase different countries like ours have come up under different atmospheres...... kenya has not been under any military rule where the govt in charge needs to look firm and in control to gain respect of the people and the army generals...... and this eventually gets in the psyc of the people that a govt must always look firm even when they fail to do their job of protecting citizens....historically most political strugles involved fighting the government itself.... people over hear have no hate for the chinies or the brits or the americans, or the israelis or the russians.... as far as we are concerned we dont really have recentments towards any of them ...... our enemis are internal and local... An FBI helping conduct investigation....not really the worst thing to happen... but alshabaab actively occupied a territory in kenya , now that will make people go crazy
A whole spec ops team? Report didnt even give an accurate number.
Before I proceed with my video, show me a rule that says drinking is forbidden. Those guys are not on war front but an operational base. They are not fully dressed in uniform, therefore, drinking is not a crime.

You have a rule against drinking in such condition doesn't mean it's not allowed in Nigeria.

haha never knew Kenya soldiers are in need of alcohol that they had to forget they were there for a crisis.
See your soldiers stealing money and looting alcohol during a terrorist attack.
Amateur video taken at a restaurant at the mall has shown scores of empty beer bottles after the siege, apparently the remnants of a drinking binge by the Kenyan soldiers. Alcohol stocks at other restaurants were also depleted

Terrain masking is simply hiding behind terrain features.

"Terrain masking" is a means of avoiding active radar by positioning the aircraft so that there is natural earth hiding it from the radio waves sent by the radar system. This technique is used by military pilots to fly to their target stealthily, using the topography to mask their approach from detecting radar microwaves.

basically it is achieved by flying through low elevations, keeping the higher elevations between you and whatever you don't want looking at you. These detectors could be radar, lasers, IR cameras, or humans.

A primary advantage is that the detectors mentioned above can't pinpoint your position. These detectors are usually associated with things that can hurt you, so staying out of sight (or out of line-of-sight of their weapons) increases your life expectancy.

Other advantages include:
1.You present more of a fleeting target.
2.Not many other aircraft are going to come down and try to tangle with you.
3.Your target has a harder time seeing you coming.
4.Radar-guided weapons have difficulty picking your image out from the ground clutter.

A primary disadvantage is that you need to fly really low to hide behind terrain features. Since the ground has a near 100% probability of killing you if you run into it while traveling at speed, this can often offset the advantages of hiding from something shooting at you with a worse kill probability.

Other disadvantages include:
1.You tend to burn more gas when flying low.
2.You can't see as far.
3.You're in range of a LOT more stuff that can hurt you. MANPADS, AAA, even an AK47 grin
4.Bird hits
5.You don't have as much room to maneuver.
6.If you have an emergency (like an engine flame out), you have fewer options and less time to sort it out. (The first response is usually to climb and then get killed from whom ever you were trying to hide from in the first place grin )

This is also called "flying under the radar." Because of the curvature of the earth there is a maximum distance that a ground based, line-of-sight radar can detect a low flying target. Beyond that distance, the target would literally be flying under the radar waves. What further complicates the problem is "ground clutter." The radar return from trees, buildings, and just the ground will obscure the low flying airborne target. It gets lost in all 'clutter' of those many radar returns other than the aircraft.

as far as i am concerned Nap-of-the-earth, Terrain masking , flying under the radar are interchangeable since they serve the same purpose. fighter jets fitted with Terrain-following radar (TFR) are only capable of doing the above . eg rafale

certain military helicopters also have terrain-following radar. Due to their lower speed and high maneuverability, helicopters are normally able to execute terrain masking better fixed wing aircraft.

regarding the osama raid , some sort of stealth helicopter was used , but it was limited , because helicopters with their moving rotors are inherently not stealthy. they are also not completely radar evading due to the above reason.
US probably employed EW assets like Prowlers and Growlers to jam / blind the Pakistani radars (Chinese). me thinks it is entirely possible that US also switched off/disabled the radars (US supplied) .
the helicopters then used terrain masking to ingress into Pakistan , unobserved visually / electronically .

Pakistan assets r deployed mainly in the east and still there are gaps , MIG25s used to breach their airspace ( up to Afghanistan border ) on a regular basis sometimes to spook them they would turn on their afterburners and climb to max altitude and go supersonic. they could do nothing.
Yea. Nice write-up. I know a lot about the terrain masking just curious how if the US was going to drop a bomb on Pakistani Intelligence HQ, Nuclear plants it would have been so easy. Operation Opera made use of this too. The Israeli raid on the reactor.

The Pakistani claimed US made use of terrain masking to access Islamabad. Nemesis what's your opinion?

Terrain masking refers to a method of avoiding detection by radar, typically early warning radars or surface-to-air missiles. Essentially it consists of having the aircraft fly close enough to the ground that local terrain like hills and valleys block the line of sight between the aircraft and the radar, rendering the aircraft invisible.
It is important as a means of avoiding active radar by positioning the aircraft so there is natural earth hiding it from the radio waves sent from the radar system. For instance, suppose a radar transmitter is installed on a hill to monitor an area. If there was a sufficiently deep nearby valley, an aircraft flying near the bottom would not be detected because the radar would be absorbed by the top of the valley and not reach the aircraft. This concept works even on flat terrain, although only at longer ranges, due to the curvature of the earth.

Syria Shoots Down Israeli Warplane F-16 Bomber, Using Russian S-300 Air Defense System

The shooting down of an Israeli warplane by Syria has not been reported by Western and Israeli media sources. According to Sputnik, on August 21, “the Israeli Air Force resumed airstrikes on Western Syria, targeting a government army base at Khan Al-Sheih in Damascus province and another in the al-Quneitra province after a six-hour halt in attacks that followed their multiple air raids over the Golan Heights.”

Fars News Agency (FNA) also confirmed the Israeli attacks and the shooting down of an Israeli fighter plane

The Syrian air defense system shot down an Israeli warplane violating the Arab country’s air space.

The Israeli fighter jet was targeted over the city of Al-Quneitra on Friday.

Israel regularly violates the Syrian airspace and it launches missile attacks against the Arab country.

On Friday, the Israeli Air Force resumed airstrikes on Western Syria, targeting Brigade 68 Base in Khan Al-Sheih in Damascus province and Brigade 90 Base in the al-Quneitra province after a six hour halt in attacks that followed their multiple air raids over the Golan Heights.

Yesterday, Friday, August 21, 2015 in the early hours, Damascus time, an Israeli US made F-16 fighter-bomber, flew into Syrian airspace brazenly and fired at Brigade 68 and, then, turned and flew back toward Brigade 90 in Qunaytra in order to insure a safe landing in occupied Palestine if the aircraft was struck. It was struck. An SA-9 from the Iftiraas Air Defense Base and an SA-2 near the Khalkhaala AB were fired. But, the technical wizardry was most on display when an S-300 (SA-10 “Grumble) super-air-defense missile was fired from the Republican Guard base near the Mazza AB at the foot of Qaasiyoon Mountain west of Damascus. This was done so that the F-16’s electronic countermeasures would first fix on the SA-2 and SA-9 while the S-300 plowed forward to exterminate the vermin inside the Israeli aircraft. The S-300 vaporized the Israeli bomber. No evidence was seen of the pilot ejecting. Instead, eyewitness accounts described a ball of fire over the Golan and the remains scattering into the air over the Huleh Valley in Palestine.

Also, the Israelis lost 2 helicopters while flying missions over the Golan Heights in an effort to bolster the sagging morale of the Takfiri rats of Nusra/Alqaeda and Al-Ittihaad Al-Islaami li-Ajnaad Al-Shaam. The 2 helicopters went down over the area near Qunaytra City and were reportedly shot down by shoulder fired, heat-seeking missiles deployed throughout the Syrian Army.

Syria’s Right to Self Defense

It had to happen, sooner or later. The seeming diffidence of the Syrian brass had to transform into a bolder and more pugnacious articulation of Syria’s right to self-defense. With Russia now inevitably bound to the Syrian government for reasons discussed at length on our website; and Iran, now dazzled by a new role to play in regional politics; the green light turned on, finally, with Moscow withdrawing all restrictions on the use of advanced weaponry sold to the Syrian military. If you want to know what the former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Martin Dempsey, meant when he told Congress Syria had a “robust air defense system”, the Zionists just found out for themselves.

Yesterday, there was despondence after Israel assaulted Qunaytra and killed civilians seated in a public vehicle. The Israelis also killed one Syrian soldier and wounded several others in the Brigade 68 base.

But, the Syrian Army Chief of Staff, in consultation with the president and the Defense Minister, had no intention of letting this episode slide by especially in light of President Putin’s recent meeting with the Turkish ambassador in Moscow during which he flatly told the diplomat that relations with Turkey would be severed if Erdoghan did not stop supporting terrorism. It also came just after Sergei Lavrov called the Saudi foreign minister an “slowpoke” just as the latter was renouncing any intention to treat with the Syrian government. There is a new belligerency in both Moscow and Teheran and it is being translated into action over Syria.

IT SEEMS ON AUGUST 2015 AN IAF F16SOUFA WAS SHOT DOWN OVER SYRIA BY AN S300 SYSTEM

it was not reported by western media.

the way it shot down the jet is very interesting and as far as i am concerned is possible.

first an SA-9 and an SA-2 was fired.
this was only a ruse to occupy the ECM of the F16, the F16 ECM as expected initiated its counter measures to the incoming SAMs.

basically what the Syrians did was to get the F16 jammers (PART OF ECM) attention by illuminating it with older generation SAMs and as expected the F16s jammers prioritized these (less potent) threats starting with the closest one when a missile was fired from the S300 ,
lol shocked
the S300 shot down the jet.
It is a classical case of HONEY TRAPPING via false (low potency) threats, with concurrent overwhelming of the defensive system so that the end game (high potency) missile gets its kill with high probability.

nice way to set and spring a trap especially for an Israeli jet - no easy task. guess the Russians were behind it.

Israeli PM after this had flown to Russia , and agreed not to breach Syrian airspace
sounds like a comedy script lol. Any link probably Russian?

Foreign AffairsGambia Withdraws From ICC by tdayof(op):
Gambia is the latest African country to quit the ICC, dismissing it as the “International Caucasian Court”
The floodgates have opened. Over the past two weeks, three African countries have said they will leave the International Criminal Court, the world’s first permanent war crimes tribunal. The latest, Gambia, is perhaps the boldest.
“This action is warranted by the fact that the ICC, despite being called the International Criminal Court, is in fact an International Caucasian Court for the persecution and humiliation of people of color, especially Africans,” said Gambia’s information minister, Sheriff Bojang, on state television.
ICC critics in Africa are quick to point out that all but one of the 10 investigations undertaken by the Hague-based court have focused on African leaders. To even the score, Gambia’s president Yahya Jammeh has asked the ICC to investigate the European Union over the deaths of thousands of African migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean. Gambia, where youth unemployment is almost 40%, has lost entire villages to migration, mostly to Europe as well as China.
The ICC has not responded to Jammeh’s request, according to a government statement. “There are many Western countries, at least 30, that have committed heinous war crimes against independent sovereign states and their citizens since the creation of the ICC and not a single Western war criminal has been indicted,” the statement said.
Last week, South Africa said it would quit the ICC, following in the footsteps of Burundi, which voted to leave the court on Oct. 12, five months after the ICC announced a preliminary investigation into human rights abuses in the country. Kenya, whose president and deputy president were put on trial over post electoral violence in 2007 and 2008, is also debating a departure. Members of the African Union supported calls to leave the ICC at a summit in July.
Leaving the court is not immediate. A country must first submit a letter to the United Nations general secretary; withdrawal takes effect about a year later. But any investigations underway before that point will still continue.
Gambia’s announcement, like Burundi’s, does not represent the same threat to the court as the departure of South Africa or (maybe) Kenya. But a mass exit by African countries would undoubtedly hobble the ICC. African countries make up the single largest regional bloc—accounting for 34 of the 124 countries that have signed the Rome Statue, the treaty that established the international tribunal in 2002.
