$80 mill is enough to buy 80 new MRAP's. Nigeria's Army is about twice the size of South Africas, so hypothetically so by my math they need at least 1600 MRAP's. So, thats $80mil per year for 20 years (not counting existing ones) to buy enough.

Get the point?
That is the issue. The Nigerian army should buy the MRAP and the NAF should get an AWACS. The AWACS will perform the work of ATR too so I do not see how that is a waste of money.

Can this radar be installed in block 2 versions?
Obviously It should.
What do you think about this Z10? Moreover, how much does the Mi35 cost?

It is stupidity at this time for the Nigerian military to invest in AWACs,
Radios
Ambulance
Hospitals
Troop transports
MRE
Training
Gears

These are just a few of essential things that are lacking and you want AWACs, then next would be space exploration I guess

Wake up.
Bro the Nigerian Military Is Classified Into Army, Navy and Airforce. Each with her budget so the all can't invest in the above. To me I'll be happy if the airforce can speed up the development on her locally made UAV.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by tdayof(m): 6:04pm On Oct 31, 2016
I just found a translated version.

AESA RADAR

Working Mode
TWS
Single/Multiple Objects Tracking
Dogfight
Real-Beam Map
DBS
Synthetic Aperture Imaging
Ground Moving Target Scanning and Tracking
Searching and Tracking On-The-Sea Target
Meteorology Mode
Missile Guidance & Multi-target Attack
Multimode alteration etc.

Main Feature
Long detect range
Multi-target
High precision

So the radar in question is an AESA airborne fire-control radar, as can be seen in the heading of the product-introductory monitor screen- and is a 'technology upgrade and jump in generation' of the existing radar on the current batch of JF-17s in service while being comparable to the F-35's radar(as stated by the product introductory monitor screen)

Synthetic Aperture Imaging
Track and search
Ground moving target tracking
Sea target and tracking
Missile guidance and multi-target attack.
Chinese should complete it. My Chinese isn't too perfect.

TRACON is fully operational and has since gone live. We've always had a full Radar awareness of our Airspace tracking targets that are 250 nautical miles away from our borders.

Let's not base our argument on an intangible.
I just want to know about the EW capability of the Nigerian Military.

If there is a requirement for an AWACS, i'm sure the Air Force would get one, however, i don't see a requirement for an AWACS at this point.

In theory, the ATR-42 could be used in that role, through the use of a Data Link they can share data with NAF JF-17s.
@Activatekruger Alright. The ATR42 won't be able to perform AWACS but can share data with the JF17. I don't think they carry airborne search radar.
About the missile fired at saudi, can someone explain how such weapon got to those terrorist control and how capable are west African countries when such is being launched at any of them?

Talking surveillance, if we go ahead with the Airbus C295W, maybe get 6 units, 2 could be converted to a mix surveillance and troop transport, while 4 units are used as proper medium transport aircraft, complimenting the G-222.
NAF doesn't need an AWACS?

That is likely a response to the NA boast that they've defeated terrorism.

[s]If IDPs aren't safe then what's the rationale for empty chest beating. The military should talk less and do more to protect Nigerians against terrorism.[/s]

We would rather be impressed by effective actions in handling BH than their loquaciousness.
The report says IDP entrance. The suicide bomber obviously tried to gain entrance into the center.
