Henry240: The Centenary and Unity each cost around $90 million per vessel. Damn That's alot. Stealth isn't cheap. I bet if it was manufactured locally we could have cut cost. wish NESL has such capability. |

Henry240: The MIGs are to be transferred to the Air Force museum in Abuja, when that is completed. They aren't operational, hence the requirement to get the F-7s in 2003, which were meant as a stop-gap measure until a suitable multi-role fighter jet could be purchased. I think we should do some reverse engineering than this museum things. Thanks for the information tho. |

ssaengine: You came to this thread late my friend. Been here for years and provided proof ages ago. Yes you do need lectures if that looks like a 10 week job to you. Bsc Mechanical Engineering Wits University, deal with it and move on. Which matters, when I joined the cliq of engineers or what I know and am capable of already? Sorry but what you typed is not an excuse. This is a cool thread, so let concentrate on the topic. |

ssaengine: [s]I am employed by the sister company that developed this "10 week truck", hence i do indeed know better. Stick to accounting as i said. [/s] Employed to the financial dept may be. Working at BMW doesn't make someone an automobile or mechanical engineer. ......and please I don't need lectures on Manufacturing engineering. I have participated in a lot. |

ssaengine: Then you never have and never will be an engineer. Stick to accounting or whatever it is you do. Boring write up. Go into engineering you will know better. Take note 10 weeks is 2months and two weeks. Then look at the picture again. |

10 weeks is fast, very fast. ten weeks isn't a big deal with what I am seeing up there. |

This is why we are one of the global giants of defence manufacture... Using existing technology. So I see no big deal. |

Henry240: Personally, i hold a different view. The army is still significantly under-resourced for our size. On paper it seems we have a lot, however resources are stretched. We would lose every battle if we decide to fight like the Americans, Europeans or Russians. Air-support simply cannot always be available.
The Air Force is due to receive 15 MI-35M helicopters, when we add that to the numbers already available, that's quite significant. They also got assault helicopters in MI-17terminator1SH with more coming, 3 units of JF-17 also only represents a start up haul, we don't yet know how many were signed up for, Yahbon Flash 20 UAVs are also coming in for the air force. NNPC also donated between 6 - 10 units of LUH to them. Although you haven't verified, and there also isn't any public verification available, C-130s in long term storage are about to be reactivated.
No military can have it all, but a certain level of effectiveness can be achieved. The army is in dire need of IFVs to complement tanks, also we require additional howitzers, MLRS, APCs and helicopters.
The Navy should be a main priority, we require everything from Frigates to Inshore patrol crafts. There are over 3,000 creeks and inland waterways in Nigeria. We need additional Midshore patrol vessels such as NNS Karaduwa class, logistics ships, hydrographic ships, atleat 2 Corvettes and 1 Frigate. How much does andoni-karaduwa class cost the Nigerian navy locally? ...any price idea if it was manufactured by a foreign company? How many can NESL produce in three years? |

My Dad himself has been harassed by those men in blacks even as a senior officer in the NPF. Immediately they get to know who he is they change their tune. I'll definitely join the NAF. I hope they are more advance by the time I am ready. |

Odunayaw: active and shabbily dressed infact I don't know why de roam about Lol they are mostly Deployed in some UNIT. My dad works under the mobile division of NPF. They are mostly deployed on serious issues. You should know skynet squad Ibadan. 90% of officers under skynet are Mobile and since you Stay at IB you should know there's a mobile command inside Eleyele state HQ. Their hilux are mostly painted red and black and are equipped with BTR armoured vehicles. I once experienced a case like three to four years ago where a fake bullion van was made to put up a faulty issue then was made to park by the road and then surrounded with well armed Mobile police with various arms. Don't ask me how I got to know the bullion van was empty The ones who roam about are the normal police lol |
