Inlaw wahala can go a long way in destroying a marriage but my question is this, why didn't ur mum come over to do d omugwo thing? Why go over to ur place? In the absence of that.......
I would suggest u pay ur MIL a visit, weekend wouldn't be a bad idea, pack ur things and dat of hubby wit baby and go spend d weekend wit her, never mention to her dat u guys will be coming over jst surprise her and try as much as possible to always leave d baby in her care and also pretend that u knw nothing abt nurturing a child and insist that she guides u and by doing dat u are automatically bounding wit her and d baby too.
As for ur SILs, win ur MIL over and u will see them going out of their way to please u.
And as for hubby, always remind him d importance of family and don't forget, u re no more an outsider, u are now part and parcel of that family and d next generation of dat family starts wit u. Gracias. |

Swty, don't do that, stop hurting urself becos of ur hubby. Now do this........ If u ve kids focus on them, show them love dat dey would wish their father not to be bck, love urself, stop calling him, delete ur previous calls, chat, msg u had wit him. In ur mind he doesn't exist, go out with ur children, party around ve some fun with friends, if he calls u pick up and be mean like saying how can I help u, wen he's done, delete d call chat. Jst be happy wit urself and children and avoid being idle for anything. Despite all these don't forget to include him in ur prayers, cos he's still ur husband. Gracias. |

Allwility: No we need not go back to the old days. I cited that to remind us of our culture as Africans. Forget the western civilization thingy.
You must realize that mothers in their protective nature want what's best for their children. When a young man is in love, more often than not, he closes his eyes to certain behaviors of his partner. Some women have even perfected the art of pretending and covering things up just to get married. After the wedding, out comes the true character and simple things as who does what at home becomes an issue.
Just like seasoned HR managers can determine within minutes if a candidate would be an asset to their company or not, most mothers can tell with about 90% accuracy if the lady their son brings home would make a good spouse or not. Thanks for ur nice response. Welcome to my world. Gracias. |

Though some people will accept to do that on nairaland, jst to claim nice girl. Is his son d guy in d world? Both of them can as well hug transformer for all I care. Allwility: You see, African mothers no Nigerian mothers are excellent judges of characters. They have the innate ability of discerning things, picking out things the ordinary eyes wouldn't see. Like my parents would say, what they can spot out from a sitting position a young man cannot see it even if he climbs a mountain.
The mother giving the girlfriend clothes to wash isn't because the mother is rude or her son too poor to buy a washing machine. She isn't even assessing how well the girl can wash. She is deliberately putting her would be daughter in law on the spot. She's trying to judge the girl's character. Just a flinch from the lady will tell the mom a whole lot about the lady. Even if the lady forces a smile the mom will still take note of the fake smile. That's why most ladies are apprehensive about meeting their would be MILs. Best bet for any lady placed in such situation is to act natural!. Take her as your mom!!!! The lady can even make a joke of the situation by asking the son why he allowed his mom's clothes to pile up this much and saying something like "Im gonna change your name on my phone from Allwility to Lazy Allwility" or stuffs like that. Then wash the clothes and ask if you can join her in the kitchen because by that time the mother would be preparing food for the both of you.
This matter simple sef. My mother assess my friends by the way they eat their food whenever we go visiting her. Very few pass that test.
Talk about assessment centers!!
People seem to have forgotten we are Africans. Back in those days, girls go to the stream to fetch waters for their would be mother in laws and boys work in the farms of their would be father in laws. Of course they don't do it alone, they ask their friends to join them but everyone knows that such acts of love tell about how genuine their intentions are and is a real pointer to their character. Should we all go back into those days jst to prove our worth. Gone are the days wen wife to be spends 7 days with her would be mother in law jst to prove her worthy of her son or for her to assess. Why putting her on spot? Or judge her character by giving her clothes to wash? Are there no other ways of judging character? We jst like to test people thinking they are JOB mentioned in d bible. Gracias. |

My dream is to have a nice mother inlaw(to be), someone dat is down to earth, dat treat you just like her own daughter {remember that a daughter can anything for her mum just to make her happy } There is a saying that says," Don't start what u can't finish" Gracias. |

Family › Re: Boarding School Or Day School by teddybear007(f): 3:25pm On Mar 15, 2016 |
NL1960: This debate has always been on with no clear position as to which one is preferable.
Iam a product of the boarding school system and it really helped to shape my life. Because of this, iam a great supporter of the boarding system. This is my own personal opinion. I have already sent my son to a catholic secondary boarding school and the girl will soon follow. The boy is a TV addict just like i was when i was younger. He can watch TV especially DSTV all day long. The only way i could make him read and concentrate is by sending him to a boarding school. Even to concentrate and prepare for the highly competitive common entrance he was to take then was war. PHCN always came to the rescue because if there is no PHCN, he will then grudgingly go and read.
The reason why i personally prefer boarding is that these days, in most middle families, the kids are holed up in a flat all the time without any opportunity of mixing or making friends. Even if a family lives in a block of flats, families hardly allow their kids to mix with and play with other kids in the compound. You always see the kids looking lost whenever they are out. Primary school hardly allow them to mix because once it is closing time, they are taken straight home and the next thing is eat, TV, games and home work. There is even no enforcement of siesta. In boarding, they tend to bond well with their mates through siesta, evening games, evening prep and other social activities normally organised by the school. The friends i really have today are my classmates from boarding school. Even the women that are now married, we still relate as brothers and sisters as we were relating in school whenever we across each other even if their husbands are there. I cannot be agree with u, boarding school is kinda the best, cos there they learn a lot of things dat those who attended day schools would wish to know. There are a lot of activities one can engage in order to unleash their potentials, talents are being discovered and skills are being enhanced. I am a product of both day and boarding school but I could deduce that attention is being paid to d boarders more than d day students. |

wadetaw202: Ma, you didn't marry a man; you married a boy.
Did either of you read books and attend programs about marriage and marital life before you got married? I doubt it.
Maybe you just married him because he is well to do and ready for marriage without first finding out his characters.
Or maybe you saw the characters before marriage but decided to still marry him because of so called love or money.
You are in for a long thing.
If you tell him to stop telling his mummy about your discussions, he will still tell his mummy and this will put you in a bigger problem with your mother in law.
Since you decided to marry mummy's boy, I suggest you live with it.
When he was wooing you with gifts and money, you didn't come here to complain. Now that marriage has opened your eyes to reality, you remember nairaland. For ur mind u jst advised d OP, well u are entitled to ur own opinion, am pretty sure u aint married. Gracias. |

emymeeky: Non of the above .
First of all , porridge is generally not a delicacy that'll appeal to many . You have to go extra mile in order to arouse the appetites of the eaters .
Daycare . Hmmmmm. Your mum has to be patient to handle the rate at which she changes diapers . Children can shyte even when they don't feel like shyting. They'll force it out somehow while looking at the caretaker with a suppressed laughter .
In terms of cost, daycare is way cheaper in the sense that she can use her home instead of renting an apartment . The only costly thing there is the pampers cause a child with a running stomach can finish one bundle in an hour . She's got a telly already . she'll buy some story books and toys. There is more to DAYCARE than who u jst knw. It goes way beyond than what u jst wrote. Gracias. |

defendedvictim: it means giving ur husband his place as d head of the house. Get his approval on major decisions u want to take. I knw submission is difficult wen d man is a 'd*ck'; buh d instruction to wives to 'submit' to their husbands follows the instruction to men, to 'love' their wives. That's how I see it...if men should love their wives properly, submission would be easier U jst made a point dat no one else did. Gracias. |
