Buhari didn't do anything, didn't even visit them..

It was the Governor that took action and negotiated with the abductors - so, you should rather blame the Borno state Governor here, not GEJ

The issue of child marriage is more of an institutionalized one, I'm a southerner and I don't get to see those things here - even we have more liberal Muslims here.

The onus is on the Northern leaders to "amend these laws" as we have clearly seen in some parts of the world (not solely on child marriage), taking Saudi Arabia women-evolution as an example.

And mind you - I also don't condone Blasphemy, honestly it doesn't make sense, but I'm not bothered about the punishment

Lastly, we have international organizations seeing through Islamic reform ideas -MWL, as an example.
We can't live in the past forever, and people sometimes mix archaic Arabian culture with Islam's...

you are the one misled here. Modern park at Iwo road hasn't started and they have 12 months duration, and three months is gone already. Airport rd/welfare/back to gbagi road was Ajimobi project and was sponsored by world bank.

1- Modern park is under construction
2- Ajimobi wasn't so serious about the Airport/Gbagi.... They're working there everyday now, and they've also extended the reach...
3- I believe in continuity and keeping up with important projects
4- What can u say about Iwo Road-Ibadan North East Secretariat road?

Really?
I entered Ibadan on Sunday and we drove around yesterday, and I can say it anywhere that this man is trying.

Iwo road modern park, Airport road/Welfare/Back of Gbagi Market, Loyola road and that frustrating one-way bridge etc

Politics / Seyi Makinde Only Had Dry Catarrh, Not COVID-19 – Senator Andulfatai Buhari by TeeBabss(m): 12:06pm On May 08, 2020
A Senator representing Oyo North senatorial district in Oyo State, Andulfatai Buhari has said that he was not convinced that Governor Seyi Makinde actually contracted COVID- 19 and tested negative after five days, saying that he must have had ordinary dry catarrh.

Buhari, who said this during an interview in Ibadan, insisted that he believed so going by non-chalant manner he had been treating the pandemic with the partial lockdown the state had been observing since its breakout in March.

Buhari said: “When you compare the decision of Governor el-Rufai and Governor Bala of Bauchi and that of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo who all claimed they tested positive to coronavirus, the truth of the matter in my own opinion is that Governor Seyi Makinde only had catarrh and not coronavirus.

“I said this because if he actually had coronavirus, he would not be taking such porous decisions about the issue. “After the first, second and third test, Governor Rufai said he would never wish what he went through for his worst enemy, and that he was in hell in the first five days of his treatment. The first five days that was supposed to be the worst period throughout the world was when our own governor dramatically came back and said he was already tested negative.

“Our governor said that he was tested but the NCDC said publicly on Channels Television that they were not the one that tested Governor Makinde. He was tested probably by Professor Temitope Alonge.

“In the whole world today, my governor has gone into the Guinness Book of Record as the only person who contracted coronavirus and within five days came out and in seven days he had started having meeting with his Exco.

“We need to lock down and know the people we are testing. We need total lockdown in Oyo. I am even averse to some senior cadre of civil servants resuming work at the Secretariat. “It is not yet time for that. We didn’t do lockdown and so we don’t know the real number of people already affected. “Governor Makinde needs to up his game in consonance with the reality on ground.”

raumdeuter:

I am from Oyo state. I have never voted in any Nigerian election in my life and IMO I think the rating of Oyo governors since 1999 are below. I think Ladoja was the best and Akala is the worst governor ever. Both were PDP governors
Ladoja (PDP)
Ajimobi (APC)
Lam (AD)
Akala (PDP)

What I have seen from Seyi simply shows he is a media governor with no concrete plan, The major problem people had with Ajimobi was his perceived arrogance and this makes people bias against him, In Nigeria, we love those who give us flowery words without any action to back it, we like people who don't tell us the truth but massage our egos later in 20yrs time we will be wondering why we are still behind Benin and Togo.

Many things people dare not do in the private sector, they believe its govt that they should do it.

1. When Ajimobi got there, Ibadan was the center of NURTW crisis, he brought it all under control and sent some of those thugs to prison. Makinde to get power, aligned with some of these thugs like Igboho, and Auxilliary Now Auxilliary is the head of Park Managers in Oyo State

2. Ajimobi banned street trading and roadside shanties used for petty trade, Makinde resumed and played to the gallery that his mother was also a street trader and street trading should resume

3. I saw on Social Media one person posting how Makinde was at night joining waste management to pack gutters, And posted "See a humble governor, he even denied himself sleep to pack gutters" Someone asked him that if there was no camera will Makinde be there tonight to pack gutters?

4. Ajimobi implemented a levy on all school students which they use to buy things like chalk and other school needs but Makinde cut it. Some of those schools don't even have chalks again and the money they used to make from the levy is gone. So they are enjoying free education but without ordinary chalk to learn

For Nigeria to develop we need some hard decisions not just words and massaging egos. I don't mind someone who talks rudely as long as he delivers. I don't mind tough actions as long as we get results

That is why a governor will spend 4yrs doing nothing but give us 1 derica of garri and rice and be voted back in because he knows how to talk or blame opposition

For example, Bisi Akande in Osun found out that an average secondary school in Osun will have 8 PE teachers, 6 CRK teachers, 8 IRK teachers but 1 Math teacher, 0 Physics and Chemistry teachers he retired many of those redundant workers employed more Science and Math teacher but lost election because of that

One governor mandated that if you are teaching a subject you should take a WAEC standard test of the subject and get 50%. Please tell me what is wrong with that policy? But he lost reelection because people frowned at it.

I asked someone if you are not competent enough, will First Bank or Zenith or MTN retain you? We see the efficiencies in some places and love it but we cannot practice the same thing

Nigeria needs to make some tough decisions now or else we are just deceiving ourselves

Most of the accolades of Seyi is that he pays Salary but Ajimobi was paying salary too promptly when he first got there, he even paid 13th-month salary before oil prices crashed
https://allafrica.com/stories/201201050872.html

He built many infrastructures too but his main issue was that he can talk anyhow and doesn't respect anyone

We all go back to Nigeria and still see the same infrastructures that we had in 1980 still there and getting worse or no improvement. The same road we plied in 1990 hasn't been improved upon yet we wonder why we don't have functioning hospitals and rails. We are wondering why we have 200 ventilators for 200m people 1 for 1million.

Imagine Nigeria is just working on a functional rail in 2020 while we have countries less than us using rail for many decades Until I see real projects on ground and not audio social media noise, I am not impressed

Point 1/2 - Park management system is actually a good policy, increases IGR and gives people freedom from devilish/corrupt NURTW boss - Ajimobi banned street hawking, but was never effective, when last did you visit Oyo State, lol

I'm more concerned about the 4th point...
Seyi's free education is one of his best policies ever!

During Ajimobi's time; students were paying per term, they actually paid for everything - school fees, exam fee, test answer sheet, lesson, practicals, PTA, etc....
It was a difficult time for most parents, even for teachers because it was so difficult to keep such records (most parents were like contributing money per week, some would drop #200 today, #100 tomorrow).
These parents are mostly low income earners, even the students hustle after school....Why should it be hard for govt to give us free education, free education for the masses

Bro, I'm sure you don't know that we were sending the school fees to principal's account, not school... And the rest, we were sharing it somehow somehow

*When Seyi announced Free Education*
It was second term last year, and by third term last year, we had unimaginable number of new students. What does that mean? The Ajimobi (and diff schools) fee was a big deal to most parents.

It looked like it wasn't going to be so smooth from the outset, but now, every school is getting all the needed educational materials on time - chalks, markers and the likes... And Seyi is giving free books (exercise books and textbooks)...
So, the educational point you made, I don't agree with you

I pray o, cos I doubt most people around that side even take the virus serious like that. I don't even think people over there go about with Hand sanitizers and face masks like we do in Lagos

No bro, people are not taking it that serious.
They're more concerned on how to survive during the lockdown, they (most) see this virus as being overhyped... If you go around, you'll see people going around with no mask, or any form of protection, even at major places and parks...
I left Ibadan yesterday, and I can tell you Osun is kind of worst, they'll tell you "it's only affecting the rich people "

Well, we're preparing for total lockdown in Osun state as from Wednesday. Market was full today, prices have gone up, no money - things will be really hard for people.

If without them the company will go on successfully so why are they still paid that much and Is that how you justify a billion work worth?

Are you proposing they should sell their products for free?
Their wages should be reviewed?
They should pay their employers more, or they should be more taxed?

In this scenario, they're selling products the whole world is ready to buy - which implies, the money will keep piling up. Technically, they don't even have a choice than to be a billionaire.

1. You can actually tell us how they won't or how we can stop them from being a billionaire
2. When they die, what should happen to their companies

MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS

With the supreme court ruling, there seem to be more questions than answers regarding the drama in Imo including how the supreme court came about the votes it tallied. How many votes were left out, enough to make up for the gap of 176,946 votes between Ihedioha and Uzodinma?
Was it only Uzodinma that was affected in the 388 polling units? On what ground did INEC nullify the votes from the polling units? What Could it be the apex court faulted INEC’s decision? What happens in subsequent elections when the commission decides to void votes from some polling units as it deems fit? The litany of questions continues.

This is what I've been saying!
