Lagos — Some 700 former workers of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) sacked by the bank's management last week are heading to the court to contest what they termed unlawful termination of their appointments.

The affected workers fall within the category of those who have served the bank for three to five years and all of them were said to be university graduates.
Firing and hiring isn't a new thing in Nigeria and around the world. This link showed pple were fired in 2011 when Nigeria was enjoying 110/130 dpb of crude. Even almighty HSBC sacked and are planning to sack more.

The average age of male prisoners is between 20 and 30. Thats a lot of man power wasting away in prisons and they release them on 50000 to 200000 bail. There are so many ways to empower these guys while in prison and the one i feel would work best is turning a really large location to a work-prison system. Let them farm and at the end of their term, would have some money to start their own farming biz even if its in their village

This is totally irresponsible journalism. Can a governor be declared incompetent with just 6 months in office? Is traffic management the only parameter to judge a governor? They make it look as if there wasn't traffic gridlock under Fashola's government. How does Ambode's attempt to make LASTMA civil a sign of incompetence? Anyone who lives in Lagos knows that the reasons given by the governor are true and cogent.

We all complained bitterly at the early days of Fashola's government, let's cut Ambode some slack. He seems open to criticism which is good and will definitely help him get better.

I am not holding brief for the governor but I think we have the worst commissioner of police in Lagos.

The bottom line is that most Nigerians forget things easily, I remembered Ambode almost lost the last election cos pple believed he cared more for the rich than d poor. Am happy Ambode checked d powers of the silly LASTMA goats. As per d security issue, blame the police and d present economic condition of the country. As far as am concerned the state doesn't have its own police force, the state govt can only aid the police with operational vehicles and probably insentives to do a better job and which am sure Ambode has been doing.

Q1 is jan-march, was PMB the president then. Guys read before you comment, stop politicising every issue on NL. Moreover whatever is happening to Nigeria's economy today is as a result of mismanagement of funds by the past administration. Can u compare an average income of 113$ per barrel to 47$ per barrel yet Buhari met a very depleted foreing reserve. It isn't too much if d previous govt. had left over $100b. in d FR.

Don't call him a Nigerian, he only spent 20years of his life in Nigeria. He spent about 33 yrs of his life in the US. His life got messed up in the US. Assuming he travelles back after his studies, he might have become a director in d civil service or a private company.
