Hankim: Tinubu and Ribadu must have roped him in just to kill his political career, Kwankwaso is not person who introduced sharia law, APC has lied against this man just to lender him useless politically Kwakwanso was the second governor in the North to sign sharia into law in Kano state in year 2000. While you are correct that he was not the first (Yerima of Zamfara was the first), Kwakwanso's action was stronger and symbolic, given that Kano was a cosmopolitan state like Abuja and Lagos state. And of course, Kano state is more influential than Zamfara state in the North and Nigeria as a whole. Once, Kwakwanso signed shariah into law in Kano, he opened the floodgates for other Northern states to implement the law. That is the genesis of the problem in Nigeria. When next you read about Hisbah destroying the beer business of another Nigerian, Kwakwanso is the architect. |

Penguin2: I like this topic. And it’s because you didn’t post it to support anyone but to state facts as they currently are and what we need to next.
I’ve always said I support the removal of subsidy whether rightly or wrongly removed, and I don’t want it back.
But we seem to be failing in demanding accountability for where the saved resources is being channeled to which in this case is the state governments.
One of the reorientation that needs to happen in Nigeria is how to get citizens to take their eyes off Abuja sometimes and question what their governors are doing at state level.
What do the governors have to show for the increase in allocation? Because apart from governors like Otti, Mbah, others are just paying salaries and nothing more.
It’s not about quoting trillions in their budgets, do those funds trickle down to the common man in the streets? You have spoken well. One of the challenges that I perceive in most Nigerian social commentaries is that many people lack objectivity due to their partisanship. So, inevitably they do not care whether their governor is doing enough or not as long as he or she was the one they supported. But we must be able to hold all elected officials to account regardless of political or tribal affiliations. |

A US judge ruled against something like this recently and forced the young man to take blood to save his life.
Maybe our judges should consider such in extreme cases like this. What then happens if the blood transfusion is forced and the person still dies? There is no guarantee that she would not have died even if she had the blood transfusion. Existing data calls to question the efficacy of current cancer treatments. |

Wallade: Go and read my first post on this topic again and tell me the questions I asked that are different.
Sometimes, when you happen to see a post, you may need to research how it started to understand where the person who posted it is coming from for better understanding. I might not have read your initial post that led to your exchanges with the chaps. But my intervention was directed at answering your question "why sokoto". I was interested in that particular question because I had asked the same question before reading from Sokoto state's governor who asserted that the U.S. attacks decimated the terrorists' camp and he went further to say that the cross-border banditry would soon stop in Sokoto. It was from there that I drew my inference that maybe Sokoto was targeted because of the presence of these cross-border terrorists. I shared same with you because I assumed that you might not have read that piece on Sahara reporters. |

Wallade: Really, so where are the terrorists that the 🇺🇸USA strike took down?
Can we see the evidence of terrorists in that location.
What you fail to understand is that you, the USA and all those supporting that position must be able to prove that there are actually terrorists at that location. The onus of proof is on you guys and your revered Donald Trump.
So far, you have only been insinuating it. There is no hard copy proof. There are no ISIS casualties seen or cleared just yet, after 48 hrs.
Who is fooling who? You have brought into the discussion, questions that were not in your original post which I reacted to. I only re-echoed what Sokoto governor and other indigenes stated which was that the bombed area is a regular route of terrorists from Niger republic. Now, when you go like your 'revered Donald Trump' then you are only assuming. I want to believe that you are not a terrorist yourself. And therefore, I will like for us to deal with issues and not personalities. |

Wallade: Your bigotry and sentiments has made you lose your sense of reasoning and understanding.
The question you should be asking the USA🇺🇸 and Donald Trump after the strike is:
Why Sokoto?
What is the proof of ISIS in Sokoto, Nigeria?
What are the ISIS or terrorist human and material casualties at the locations that the USA🇺🇸 military strike hit in Sokoto and perhaps Kwara?
If the USA 🇺🇸 missile hit an open ground just beside your house and shook your house foundation. Would you just stay happy that Donald Trump finally struck ISIS ot terrorists in Nigeria or would you be bothered to want to know what ISIS or terrorists USA🇺🇸 and Donald Trump targeted beside your house?
The joke is on you Sokoto was chosen because it provides a pathway for the terrorists into Nigeria. If you know that axis well, from Ilela in Sokoto you enter Duruku in Niger republic. That very location that was attacked has been confirmed by the Sokoto state governor as a terrorists' hideout. |

You have just echoed my thoughts. Investigative officers are not judges, so why is he requesting for recusal. Additionally, his press release does not even disclose any personal issue with the EFCC chair to warrant his purported fears. At this rate, he may likely request for the recusal of employees of EFCC who were in the system during the Ayo Salami's probe. |

@Fergie, this is really interesting. However, I am minded to query the basis for which the ex-AGF (Malami) is requesting for recusal of the EFCC:s chair at this time.
I believe that the EFCC chair will not be adjudicating over the matter and the EFCC can only bring past evidences (if they have any) of corruption to try the ex-AGF.
I believe that Malami should be requesting for a speedy trial, if he believes that his hands are clean. I dare say that it is not within his power to determine who investigates him or not. |

nairalanda1: No, it is true federalism in action.
Every state has the rights to set state law.
Many of you don't understand true federalism. You think it is all about resource control. It isn't
Just as a Muslim doesn't have the right to damage beer bottles in the south east, so also a Christian does not have the right to object
Drinking beer is not a Christian value anyway. Waste of money and damages the liver
Plus in America that you admire, there are dry counties there. No alcohol
Anyway, one is free to move from Kano to a place where they don't destroy a man's business. Simple and short. I don't know why someone would be crazy enough to set up alcohol drinks business there especially since we know hisbah has been doing this for over 2 decades Shouldn't the same theory of state governments being able to implement laws within their domains apply across board? For context, several states have enacted anti public grazing laws yet, the Northerners has consistently cited the fact that such laws run foul of the constitutional guarantee of freedom of movement. If Northern states can exercise their liberty to destroy alcoholic drinks, then their Southern counterparts should be able to destroy grazing cows too! Southerners should prevail on their lawmakers to collectively challenge this anomaly. Secondly, human rights lawyers of Southern extractions should approach the court to test the legality of hisbah's action. |
