First, the authority to issue certificates to students lies with the institution (CSU) and if it is agreed that they authorize replacement certificates by 3rd parties, that is the end. It would have been a different case if it was a Nigerian institution because replacement certificates are issued by the school themselves.

The replacement certificate that the dude parades is American and guided by the American rules and practice. Therefore if CSU says it isn't forged based on practice then nobody can pronounce it forged. This should be basic logic. In the case of his forfeiture, it was argued that the American law recognizes both civil and criminal forfeitures and that his was a civil forfeiture without conviction by American law. Once that was established the court upheld the argument and it was over. The same thing would play out here and that is it.

The validity of a document can only be established by the body who has the authority to issue it. Not any other person; something applies to the forgery of a signature.

Which of the representatives of CSU has come out to say his or signature was forged? In the absence of such this is a wild goose chase that is not leading anywhere

If Atiku's legal team truly believe the bunkum that they are spreading, let them sue Tinubu in in a U.S court for forgery of his certificate. A pronouncement by the U.S court that what Tinubu did is inconsistent with the practices in America and that it amounts to forgery, will help serve Atiku's cause. Honestly, I don't think Tinubu needs to use iron-fist against them. Tinubu just needs to leave them to help him campaign for his second term. I have seen a few people who didn't vote for Tinubu but now supports him having heard from the school that he attended and graduated brilliantly.

You are very right. This case is lost especially when the school has declared that ex-students can get their replacement certificates from third parties as long as all the details on the certificate are consistent with the school's record.

It is the school alone can say that it's document was forged and in this instance they have clearly stated that their certificate is not forged. The court will take their words above any other person's. The opposition, through Atiku that ought to have been united to contest against the ruling party broke up days to the elections and now Atiku is seeking collaboration with Obi and Kwankwanso. I find that call hilarious and stupid at the same time.

Perhaps, there can be other allegations against this guy. The deposition at the court has proven that his certificate wasn't forged. It is good that he has been made to go through this scrutiny. Under oath, the CSU university authority stated that a student could get a replacement certificate from a third party.

My concerns were:
1. Did this guy attend CSU?
Facts suggest that he did

2. Did the guy falsify his results to look brilliant?
Facts released by the authorities based on his transcripts showed that he excelled while in school. That is refreshing, at least I know that the guy isn't a dullard

I don't believe that the guy forged his certificate because the school (CSU) stated that the replacement certificate he presented is consistent with the replacement certificate for year 1997 which was the year he requested for his too. It wouldn't make sense for him to forge a certificate that he earned with his grade of passes. If it was a transcript, I would have been tempted to believe that he would alter that because of grades.

As at 1997, Tinubu was still in the U.S and could easily apply for a replacement of his certificate. While, I do not know much about him being the Richard Daley student it is important to know that we are in a globalized world now and if Tinubu impersonated a female as being suggested by some, it wouldn't be for long before the said "girl's" mates would appear to say Tinubu wasn't their mate. Talking of which I do recall seeing that Tinubu's picture appeared somewhere on the school's documents.

Autopsy is different from coroner inquest. The autopsy that was done will be used to shed light medically on the likely cause of death at the inquest. The inquest is a judicial process while the autopsy is a medical process. Autopsy is carried out in the hospital while the inquest takes place in a court. That should explain the process to you.

The advice should go both ways though. I have read here on countless occasions how people who have no inkling about individual's circumstances goad people on to japa and I have seen occasions where people advised others against "japaing". Nigerians have always travelled and will continue to do so. Individuals must be allowed to determine what suits them. There is no one-size-fits-all prescription.

Even for those preaching Nigeria is a shit-hole and japa-if-you-can apostles, abroad is not meant for everyone. Some people will not blow abroad but they will back in Nigeria (eg Dbanj, Don Jazzy and others). On the other hand, some other people may find that the overseas environment is just what they need to succeed.

Everytime I travel and I am on a flight back to Nigeria and I see foreigners coming to Naija to come and prospect for businesses, I keep wondering what they see that many Nigerians are unable to see. After all said, individuals should evaluate their own circumstances and do what is best for them.
