ohn Obi Mikel officially kicks off his Chelsea career today.

The Nigerian superkid, who was the subject of an intense tug-of-war for almost 18 months between Chelsea and Manchester United, will take part in his first training session under manager Jose Mourinho at Cobham Training Ground this morning.

"The boy is fantastic," Mourinho told the club's website. "I hope I will be proud of him. I saw him at the African Cup (Egypt 2006), playing like a giant in the middle of players like Okocha, Yobo, Drogba and Eto'o at an unbelievable level. We know the level he can be. I look forward to helping him become an even better player.

It's all about the TV exposure and not really the style of play that makes us all watch the EPL. I am a big fan of entertaining and attractive football and i get loads of that when i watch the spanish la liga! .This is a real league where u have exciting playmakers in even the smallest of teams.
We all know that the top 4 teams in the prem this coming season are going to be chelsea,man u,arsenal & liverpool. SO TELL ME WHERE THE FUN IS IN PREDICTABILITY??. No doubt the psycopathic english media contributes a lot to the idea of the prem being the heaven of football. In actuality however thanks to Mr Abrahamovic, the prem would have been a dumping ground for retiring foreign players!
It's really two leagues they have there in the premiership; the top 4 and the rest.
Hope u all know a certain Osasuna will be playing in the champs league on merit this season and a certain Villareal which got to the semi-finals last season where only a low division side 'bout 5 years ago. NOw that is excitement when you don't really know who's going to be in the top 4 or better still who's going to win the league title at the beginning of the season.
And do i really have to add that where the joe coles and cristiano ronaldos reign as the most entertaining players , they would pale in comparism to their contemporaries in Spain. I need not call names,

The truth is that much was rightly expected from ronaldinho. You cant go into the Wc as the world's best and not expect pressure. The WC was his big chance to join the legendary names but he did not take his chance. I do not need to over-emphasize that the WC is the most important tournament in the world.
If u shine in the champs leagoue, u may be remembered for a decade but if u do so at the WC, your name and images of you will be remembered for eternity. Ronaldo never really made any impact in the champs league throughout his career but the memories of him in all his World Cup glory will overshadow even the most superb performances by any player in the champs league and the domestic leagues in Europe.
However, ronaldinho still has a last chance in 2010 but he'll be 30 and not everyone can rock in old age. At least we all know that by now.

Angry Brazilian football fans have destroyed a seven-metre tall statue of World Player of the Year Ronaldinho following the national team's World Cup quarterfinal exit at the hands of France.

The statue, made out of resin and iron, in the southern town of Chapeco in Santa Catarina state, was burnt in the night of Saturday to Sunday, after the Selecao's 1-0 defeat to Les Bleus, according to the local mayor's spokesperson.
"All that's left is a burnt out metal skeleton of a statue," the source said.

The monument, depicting Ronaldinho with a ball, was inaugurated two years ago to celebrate the player's first World Footballer of the Year award in 2004.

The Barcelona forward, who is from the neighbouring Rio Grande do Sul state,was the biggest flop during the tournament, failing to shine as he had done all season in his club's colours.Perhaps he was over-awed by the stage where the likes of Zidane blossomed.

I saw it as Ronaldinho's chance to finally claim his place among the legends but Zizou even at the grand old age of 34, had other plans for the night.Even ronaldinho paid homage to a greater being and we could all see the way the Brazilians were all clamouring to have screen time with Zizou at half time and at full time.He simply took total control of that match and he conducted the French team like an ochestra.He is indeed bowing out in a blaze of glory.
In all my years of watching the WC,i have only seen a player control the game the way Zidane did very few times.
We will truly miss this giant when he finally hangs his boots hopefully on sunday at the finals, Indeed,its a loss to the entire human race.
