Another good indicator is this:
I was watching TVC nightly news yesternight, where after participating in ICAO conference overseas, on Aviation safety &other contemporary issues on aviation standards. Speaking with newsmen, DG NCAA & another director specifically says, "all participating states have been mandated to step up their standard to meet ICAO's specified standards by 2016" saying aviation safety remain their focal point to ensure service delivery.

so, if FAAN who's in charge of airport services have been attested to even by its DG that "FAAN IS GROSSLY UNDERSTAFFED" & they are targeting some standards by 2016, then if there is something they should be desperate abt it should b STAFFING FAAN first then other things follow.
Hence, they will see the recruitment to d end!

Their department of corporate communications headed by Mr Dati is the one handling their Facebook/ Twitter acct& co, all through d process of recruitment, they've been updating d acct, but recently they kept mute everywhere abt d recruitment only. A lot a people kept toasting, praising, commending then b4 bombarding them with questions, none get response no matter how short.

Even the department responsible for public communications could not say anything abt it until authorized, meaning we should keep our fingers crossed, stop peddling rumours we are not sure of& trust them. its always good to be realistic in as much as we all want to be on that list but how can u say faan needs750 from each zone. The questioned to ask is what is the combined strength of faan, what are the budgetary provision. Even if faan recruits 750 only it will go down as one of the highest numbers recruited in its history in a single year. 750 x4 is over 3000. Even MTN has only 6000 core employed in Nigeria. What you should be praying for is your name to be on that list.

Called one of their staff I collected his phone no @ the Lagos centre yesterday, he said all have been suspended till after May 29th, I now asked him what's the possibility of this whole process been disrupted by the incoming administration, he then kept mute. All I believe in is that he himself does not have the final say on that. Let's just keep praying, hoping and having faith in God. I don't believe the APC government can actually disrupt these whole process done in accordance with the Federal Character Commission code of conduct. Patience is the key.

This is my take on this:-
Let's cool down & b optimistic & assume d silence from them means that the process still align with fairness everyone of us had believed characterizes it up to this level.
My point is: If there has been arrangee behind as usual, surely it would have leaked to us here considering the networking of nairaland ( all of us joined @ random from all over d country).
From all indications, we can conclude that only key officials knew abt d progress & d level d recruitment reached that's y we probably could not get genuine info DAT we desire. Seems they guide it jealously from knowledge of just anybody in Faan e.g the reason a teacher may not know d content of a waec result except principal & co until later when they are ready to reveal to students.
If those nepotist & politicians had been able to infiltrate d process, I bet we would have gotten a reliable & confirmed clue abt it, the same people they are helping will leak it out or has anyone of u heard or seen any?
Let us note: after interview, they probably did not do anything serious abt it until after d elections cos that election itself is enough distraction, hence the delay& pertaining to site that's down, it may b for security reasons especially protection from hackers & scammers.

About you thinking my chances would have dwindled had all of you applied directly for SO II is bull-crap. My score got me selected, not the number of people who applied/wrote the test. Hope you know that the score used for considering ASS and Security cadet were lower than the score used for selecting those of us in SO II. So you see, if you had applied directly, you most probably wouldn't have been selected for PFT. So save me that crap.

Lastly, there were 3 categories for security and 3 for fire. Now I am certain you didn't really read the instructions on the site.

I can see u really do not know the criteria used to shortlist candidates, According to FAAN site, Candidates compete with others for slot allocated to their state. I don't wanna know wat your score is but u should know that surely more than 60% of those shortlisted from UR state under ASS & SC probably score more than u. Mr!
so if they had applied like u, one of them would have taken UR slot. like it or not, this is d truth.
Lest I forget, it was categorically stated on FAAN site that "CANDIDATE WITH M.SC ARE CONSIDERED OVER QUALIFIED FOR SECURITY CADET AND ASSISTANT FIRE SUPERINTENDENT" only.
note: they only said M.sc so what's u guys problem abt B.sc people for Gods sake?

Since you had a BA why didn't you just apply for SO II directly? Why did you apply with your OND.
Security Cadet is for SSCE holders, why will you apply for that?
If you are familiar with mass recruitment exercises, you will know that when they grade cadres and put minimum qualifications on each cadre, you are expected to apply for the one your qualifications falls into the minimum.
This is not logic, it is just the way it is. Most of you erred in that regard. But it is a good thing they stopped chasing people out, then again Nairaland should be thanked for that since it was complaints from here that were addressed.

Bro, I need to correct u cos u are wrong!
1. security cadet is not for SSCE holders, in fact none of all d vacancies has SSCE as minimum requirement.
2. Majority who applied for lower cadre job with higher qualifications simply do that out of their discretion mainly to increase their chances, like me now, immediately I saw that level 8 combines B.sc&HND, It took me only one minute to decide on level 7, cos anyone familiar with mass recruitment moreso in 9ja will know that d competition @ DAT category 8 will b too high &ur chances low. cos I know that more than 90% of youth unemployed are in that category (B.sc/HND). So, y won't I choose lower cadre if that could guarantee me better chance( isn't 1/2 bread better than none).
3. It is not our nairaland complaint that influence their decision to accept, rather it is d persistence of many candidate and their troubling them both @ d centres & on their contacts including email & phone. In Lagos they refuse to let them be & hang around in d premises. Many of d officials who interview us are not involved in shortlisting hence they had to hold meeting & agree to continue d process next day & pass d info across to other centers.
Finally, NOTE THIS:
IF u fall into category level 8 & have made it to interview level, & if majority of those u are condemning for choosing lower cadre had applied for level 8 as well, U PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE MADE THE SHORTLIST IN THE FIRST PLACE!
so pls, learn to respect people's decision, it is their descretion.

I read what someone posted on this thread about FAAN upgrading him to a level8 position cos he has a B.sc but he applied for a Level6 position. I don't know how true it is but I definitely read it a while ago. And I hope this ur question isn't just to shift this thread back to the front page.......LOL!!!!

Well, until the final list is out, we may not b sure wat their decision on that will be.
however, let us critically examine some issues here:
surely abt 80% of all of us that made it to interview level have @ least B.sc/ HND & up to 70% of those in levels 6&7 category has Bsc/ HND also. so is it only few that will be upgraded or all, if all then the vacancies they are trying to fill in levels 6&7 will b open again, let us note that they followed a particular pattern in the list of successful candidates released as distributed among the states i.e list of level 6 is abt twice that of 7 &abt 4x that of 8.
From above, we can deduce that: they want lower level cadre to b more than higher level cadre & that happened to b normal practice everywhere & if they are to upgrade everyone then that target would have been lost.
l hope am making sense.

It's my believe that the Fire and Security Officers will have to report for training since we don't have any experience on how things are done at the airports.
So after few weeks of training we might be given some days off to go and arrange ourselves and resume work immediately at which ever state we will be posted to. (Unconfirmed)

I may not b certain abt other dept but from the info gathered, I can confirm to u that, FIRE DEPT. require a minimum of additional 1,500 personnel as@ Aug 2013 to meet ICAO standard, & some of the few in service were reengaged after retirement on contract basis basically to train those coming in & certainly us.
The good news is, 'they have since not recruited except now' so we can technically deduce that they will recruit more than above figure if this is 2015.
Rest assured that same may applies to SECURITY & OTHERS.
