If I were forced to choose, I would pick Nkem because Victor is the comedian that annoys me the most. When I watch his comedies at home and I see my parents laughing at his stupid jokes it annoys me more because I fail to understand what it is about his acting that amuses them undecided

@ Post,
Lol.
We eat ladyfingers soup(Only my mum and I). My dad and my kid sister think that the appearance is nauseating. So we usually boil or make soup separately and enjoy it. I think it's the stickiness that people dont like. There's also some wild green vegetables we call mrenda(It's also sticky but yummy). wink

Lol, Hauwa.
I am as kenyan as ever. Anyway, it depends with the part of the country you come from. Maybe your friend comes from upcountry(Esp. Kikuyus and Kambas). Kikuyus don't like meat. But I'm from the coast, along the Indian Ocean; so it's fishy world(Trust me I can eat fish upto three times a day).
All the same, I would love to date a nigerian man someday wink wink wink grin

FoodRe: Fish Lovers Come On In! by teissys(f): 10:51am On May 04, 2009
Ugali/Pouded yam and stockfish
Ingredients:
stockfish
1/2 kg beef
3 tomatoes
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic
Green vegetables(Pigweed, spinach or kales)
Five irish potatoes

Method:
Boil the stockfish until it becomes tender. Remove from heat and wash it with cold water. Pound the garlic and add in the boiled stockfish to season. Squeeze some lemon on top(This reduces the strong smell of the stockfish)
Wash and cut the meat in a pot and the onions. Add salt and place on heat (I find meat boiled till dry with onions is tastier)
Add cooking fat in a frying pan and heat. When the oil is hot, add the tomatoes then cover for three minutes.
Add the green vegetable and stir. Cover for another five minutes for the vegetables to cook.
Now, put both the stockfish and the boiled meat and mix.
Cover the stew let it simmer for ten minutes.
Serve warm with ugali, pounded yam or rice.
Enjoy cheesy

There was a day my mum bought us already fried fish from the market. I had started eating mine from the tail going upwards. When I got halfway, I saw some intestines sticking out; and the gills shocked. I was soooooooooooo. . . pukes
From that day I only eat fish that I cleaned and cooked myself
FoodRe: Suggestions For Nigerian Salty Snacks Needed by teissys(f): 9:17am On May 04, 2009
Viazi karai (Fried potatoes dipped in wheat flour)

Ingrediends:
2 Big potatoes, boiled and unpeeled
Salt
Wheat flour
Corriander leaves(optional)
Yellow food colouring

Method:
Peel the boiled potatoes gently, without breaking them. Cut them into four to five pieces.
Put the flour in a dish and add water, a little at a time while mixing until it becomes a reasonably thick paste. Add a little food colouring and salt then stir the contents.
Heat some cooking oil in a deep pan.
Deep the potato pieces in the wheat paste then put in the hot oil to fry. Fry for about five to seven minutes. Remove from heat with a spoon and place in dish that will drain any dripping oil.
Make pepper sauce with lemon or lime to go with the potatoes
Serve with cold fruit juice or tea wink wink wink

FoodRe: What Foods Did You Hate As A Kid That Your Mum Forced You To Eat? by teissys(f): 8:00am On May 04, 2009
My mum used to force my cousin and I to drink plantain porridge that was mixed with fish crumbs. Whoever told her that it made children healthy did us a great harm because there was no tea and bread for us but that stupid porridge. And to add salt to the injury, the adults used to take tea and bread.
I would ran off to school whenever that concotion was beig served and recieve a thorough beating when I get home for lunch. . . Funny enuff, we even reported her to granny bcause she "hated" us grin grin grin

CultureRe: When Last Did You Visit Your Village? by teissys(f): 7:47am On May 02, 2009
Lol.
I left my village when I was a kid in 1995 after my grandma died. That was when my mum came for me and we started living together. And that was the last time i saw the place I once called home. I guess it's because there's no longer anything to hold on to.
