Thanks for your attention.
The Solar panel came in a pack of 2 labeled 130 watts (so two packs=4 pieces).
It was assembled last week Thurs and Unfortunately I don't have light for the past one week so have not charged with Nepa. I only tried charging with Gen once for 2hrs but charge controller still displayed 25.5 volts.
I honestly don't know if my panels are facing west or south.
I am based along Lagos-ibadan Express way after Berger.
I also discovered my solar panel charges my battery at 1.4 A so armed with your analysis I have confidently called the installer to come check panel positions again. I was scared the fault was mine initially.
Thanks so much for your contributions and will probably get a MMPT charge controller now.
Thanks everybody once again!
N.b: attached is a picture of my Solar Panel right now. Is this the right position please? did u say 1.4 amp is d max current from 520 watt solar panel? Something is really wrong av seen 180 watt sp pull 9.2amp in straight sunlight |

kogistar: what will happen, if i use solar + inverter ? because no money to buy battery, i want to use it in the afternoon it won't work that way and I pray you don't destroy the inverter internal circuitry cuz sp voltage is always higher than battery voltage... Buy battery and enjoy your setup....... |

kogistar: no, i mean solar + inverter, i don't plan to buy battery if you have been following the thread from page 1,you know you probably can't do without battery in yr setup. Battery serves as a buffer between your inverter and solar panels.... |

kogistar: can 300w solar + 2kva inverter, power 4 tv & 4 decoders? can it power fridge? What matters is your battery, is it having enough capacity to run your stated load at your estimated time ? 300watt sp will always work even less than that d problem is that it will probably take days to replenish the battery energy back with those appliances...... |

bishop4life: I think 12v ups will drain faster. You wonder why? "power loss due to induction". please i will advise you not to jump into conclusion abt inverters.... Am sure you don't even own a multimeter what do u knw abt powerloss due to induction? U won prove u sabi something sir...... But i dont feel in 4 dat....... I sound rude oh yea..... I dont like people talk abt some one day Google search and come to d forum like they are professors in physics.. Break dat..... @coderXO already said it all, the simple answer is no matter the configuration be it 12/24v, with d same battery amperage capacity, that will only determine the TOTAL energy in the setups. But the rate at which you draw load from Those inverter will determine the run time. Simple as abc.... Wetin be power loss due to induction.......froshh |

If yes, unplug the ups from electricity connect only ur battery to the ups ,if the fan spins without u switching on the ups power button, then u know its not ok, cos ur fan will run morning till night, but if u connect only to battery and u switch on , the fan spins and when u switch off the fan stops then its ok yes. exactly...d fan start wen i switch on d ups only....i used to run d ups with external fan before(small usb fan) which makes it bulky.......with diz fan,its very compact now....... tnx 4 d idea once again. |

patrickkkk: ceejay, pls help me with the connection of the fan. My own single battery 650v bluegate ups has the biggest capacitor labelled 35v and the smallest capacitor reads 25v and not 12v like suggested. How do I go about it? capacitors are always rated higher than the voltage passing through them.... d max volt around d 35v might be 20sumfin volt.... so no worries. what you want to make sure is to find a capacitor that will start d fan only when you press d start button on the ups..... if u connect it to any cap, d fan will b running 24/7 so far d ups terminals are connected to the battery. |

@ceejay80 well i didn't notice any difference, there was a capacitor in ma ups dat reads 28v when i start it up... i uses 12v. setup though. i was afraid it could destroy the fan...i found a cap dat reads exact battery volt, so i connect the fan through it........ it spins v. fast. it draws 280mah on my meter. |

ceejay80: When u open the ups ,the fan should be in front , the fan should face the transformer, after connecting the fan to the capacitor, put it ON to know where the fan breeze is coming out from , buy gum for gluing shoes and rob on the fan, rub the gum again on the ups , let the fan sit on top of the gum on the ups and hold for a while for the gum to dry, make sure the fan is facing the transformer, test it by outing it on the ups before u cover it, Don't buy small cooling fan or fan bigger than the ups, u can take ur ups there and get a matching fan, the fan should sit comfortably in front of the ups panel tnx bro. will definitely do as u instructed |

Science/Technology › Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by temizeee(m): 10:04pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
ceejay80: there's a big 12v capacitor in ur ups ,its the biggest capacitor in ur ups, it has two legs, one leg of it is connected to the black wire that is connected to the battery(-) ,trace the capacitor legs connected to u ps and find out where they lead to, like I said one leg leads to ur battery (-) which is the black wire and that's where u will solder the black wire from the fan to, the the red wire from the fan is soldered to the other capacitor leg, if u connect it the other way road , then that fan is damaged for good, after u hv connected ur fan switch on ur ups and find out which side of the fan the air actually come out from, face that side to ur ups transformer and glue the fan in the ups so that it doesn't fall, now cover ur ups and screw the bolts, below is how a capacitor looks like , but in the ups , it the biggest 12v capacitor that its connected to
cool....i know how to use soldering iron well,i know cap very well....lolzz. ..tnx bro.. |

ceejay80: This is the cooling fan i'm talking about, it has to be a 12v fan, even if it has 4 wires ,all u need is the black and red wire, in oshodi u can get this size for 200naira but in other market its 500naira, these fan has different sizes and voltage, don't buy the small one for ur ups, there's one that will actually fit in ur ups and the u can cover it, nobody will know that there's a fan inside, if u can't install it , give it to an electrician, they won't charge u more than 200 or 500 hairs, these cooling fans has two sides, Air comes out from one side but air doesn't come out from the other, the side that air comes out from should face the transformer tanx bro....i should be able to do it myself......u actually mean the air of d fan should be blowing directly to the transformer shebi?. |

ceejay80: to the bolder post above.... There is no fake bluegate ups, if it overheats ,its because its overloaded, bluegate ups comes in different models just like cars and lcd tv....there's actually one that beeps for 13 and 17 times and then goes into silent mode , have u seen the brand new latest blue gate ups ? Urs overheat doesn't mean its fake, I bought a brand new mini amplifier that overheated and burn out the sound ic , I have changed the sound ic 3time before I neatly installed a small fan in it ,u won't even know that there's a fan that cools the transformer and sound ic in it, till today its working flawlessly If u have a stabilizer u will notice that there's a cooling fan in it, it doesn't mean the stabs fake, even computer cpu has cooling fan installed near the transformer ,most transformers has cooling fan near them, I will teach u guys how to install cooling fan to ups that overheats, Out of all nairalanders I help install their mini inverter ,only 2 had the overheating problem, I have installed fan in them and they don't have any problem ceejay abeg show us with detail pix..tnx |

adanny01: I get the angle you are coming from.
Dont you think that even before going to the field to start testing you got to do the maths to know if there is a deficiancy in the system. In this case how effective is a 20A charger mated with 2 220Ah battery bank. Not matter the testing, the charger cant produce more than the 20A it is rated which will naturally take a long time to charge fully. If the maths is right at 22hrs that means he needs a full day of charging with public supply at atleast 200vac and 50hz non stop.
You need to ask him if he had had that kind of non stop charge to be able to get that full. If he never had, its not so easy for him to experience that full charge.
Some of what i have said before comes my personal experience with the same inverter. I know how it behaves. For instance, when the inverter has fully charged to the extent it no longer flashes the 4th bar and grid power supply fails for 2 seconds and returns which mean the battery mode has been entered and exited, the 4th bar will start flashing like its charging. Its going to flash like that for another 30mins - 1hr before it shows full charge again. The question is, did the 2 secs discharge (even with no load) of battery replenished by 30mins of charging? I dont think so. What i think is that it reenters floating charge which will keep the inverter charger in that mode for a while.
Secondly, i sometimes usually know when my inverter is charging on floating or bulk. This i know when we have low voltage of around 100vac from grid or when using generator. When using generator i hear the change in generator sound upon putting load on it, i know the charger is in bulk stage but when no load is felt by the generator i know its on float. I use a 1kva stabilizer to charge the system so when we have low voltage in grind and the inverter is in bulk charging, the stabilizer heats up real bad. But when voltage is above 160, it charges well without me knowing the stage.
I have watch the inverter well thats why i feel its the set up that is incapacitated. all Good,i agree with your point yea....... |
Computers › Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by temizeee(m): 5:40pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
adanny01: What do you suggest?
If his 20A charger will not do an adequate job, dont.you think he should go higher?
If he gets say 120vac from the public supply, dont you think thats the more reason he needs a better charger.
Am also learning. if he had to call an expert to check on what the problem is, The expert will 1stly check the SOC of the battery with a good DMM. that will show whether the battery is still charging on d 4 bar blink or it d battery is on float charge.........my point is There isn't surplus cash in average Nigerian to invest on these inverter stuff u know...what does he gain if he should get 60amp external charger n it doesn't increases his backup? |
