Have you paid yours? And If yes which bank's card and the type
Someone help me with the payment over there, while I sent the money to her in Naira.

That's what am about telling you that, if you have someone that can help you with it in Sweden, then you can pay him or her back

Then as well , I had that if someone keeps on trying, it will go. But if you see that time might be against you. Please find another means before the deadline.

Thanks

You Know what? If you're going to Sweden to study, just face it and be focus. And if you're going to the UK to study please you're free to go. Nobody is forcing anybody.

Then secondly, maybe we should create a WhatsApp group JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN STUDYING IN SWEDEN, AND NOT FOR DISCOURAGERS. Because I don't understand why some people will be promoting a country in another country thread.

We are not saying UK is bad, UK is not bad. But one have to start from somewhere.

So please, if you're interested in going to Sweden, don't doubt it And also be positive.

I wish us all the BEST OF LUCK

I have been an anonymous reader right here on nairaland since 2020. It would be a big crime if i got my visa approved and didn’t post it here because I virtually learnt everything I need to know right here.

First attempt
VISA APPROVED: Abuja 9:15, 17th December 2021.

Course of study: MSC industrial technology ,California state university fresno.
School cost: 28k
Graduate assistantship: Nil
VO: bald white guy

I was asked only 4 questions (suprised because i got like 20 questions on my transcript)
Me: Good morning
VO: nothing
Me: Good morning
Vo: pass me your I20 and passport ( I was like damn, how will one who refused to reply me approve this visa God)
VO: Why are you going to USA

Me: I’m going for my graduate studies in industrial technology at csu fresno

VO: Where do you work

Me: jubaili agrotec, they sell and produce quality agricultural products such as pesticides herbicides ( I just said and the rest because everything i have prepared for disappeared at that moment)

VO: Who is going to be paying your deficits?
Me: my dad, he is a saturation technician with chevron nigeria limited

VO: chevron Nigeria limited?

Me: Yes( I was expecting him to ask for proof of funds, but he refused and i learnt here that you don’t force documents on them)

VO: have you been outside the country recently ( can’t remember the exact words)
Me : NO

VO: you’d picking up your passport in three days time.
Me: Happy holidays and you look Good
He finally smiled at me after declining our culture of Good morning.

I congratulate myself and everyone who got their visas approved today and to those that got denied, i hope you are not giving up because thats not even an option…YOU GOT THIS.

Pray and cry out to your lord God because thats the only way , and try as much as possible to dress well( i mean what you are comfortable with and can afford) appearance will make you sell anything to them. I tried and got myself the most expensive shirt i could get since that’s what they will be seeing.

Trust me you can’t be as shy as i am, i dont look straight into people’s eyes when talking…I’d rather be looking away to avoid eye contact, Dressing well gave me the confidence i needed to reply the vo even though my voice was a bit shaky.
Thank y’all for taking your time to read this ❤️Love And light
See Grace oo! It's not about talking much. but is about the Grace of God.

Congratulations to you

Please be careful of those you listen to here.
There is a particular person with 2 monikers here with a very negative opinion about Sweden. He posts something with one moniker and supports his posts with the other. (I must say some of his arguments are valid and true though)

So don't be discouraged by anyone's opinion of your decision or reason to study.
Mind you anyone can post a picture of a Swedish passport and claim to be a Citizen.

Even in Nigeria there are people doing EXCEEDINGLY well.So if a person is not doing well in Sweden it doesn't mean you won't. Just pick up the nuggets from a comment that seems negative in totality.

I have been following this thread and I just can't hold it anymore than to add my contributions.
Disclaimer: I have not attacked anybody on this forum specifically but if my post speaks to you do not be tempted to quote me.I don't have a record on here of responding to people with an extremely negative view on things.DONT tempt me to respond to you.
Hhmmm! No wonder... Thanks for your comment sir

From this transcript, There's something about your brother's stay that's unconvincing to the VOs. Next time, if given the opportunity, chip it in on your brother's intent to returning back to the country. and I hope he isn't also in Texas - which is your intended city of study?

According to the US consul visa vetting, there's something called "Family history". A VO can deny a person if a relative of that individual has shown immigrant intent on an NIV visa. This isnt a fair criteria but it is surreal.

Got approved back in September, but haven't posted my transcript here.

Transcript for June 16th Lagos Embassy(Denied):

ME: Good morning.
VO: Good morning, pass me your documents. (Passed him my documents)
VO: Why are you going to the US?
ME: I am going for my bachelor's degree in Computer science at DePaul university
VO: Why DePaul university?
ME: Depaul university offers a concentration in software development which I am interested in, and they have a great course curriculum
VO: Who will be paying for this huge chunk of money(Can’t really remember how he used that word)
ME: My Uncle
VO: what does he do?
ME: He is a pharmacist in the US
VO: Where in the US?
ME: Washington
VO: Okay, so what are the courses offered at DePaul that made you so interested
ME: (I wasn’t ready for this question, I gave a wrong answer and stammered a bit. I started pouring out the study plan answer I have crammed) I am required to complete 192 credit hour course ………….
Vo: You are ineligible for this visa at this time, you may reapply at any time

When I got outside of the embassy, I started to evaluate the interview to understand what went wrong. That’s when I thought about what he said about MY COA. I was like why will he call 36k per year a huge chunk of money. And that’s when I realized I should have told him I have a scholarship, cause my total COA without scholarship is 59k.

I got home paid another visa fee, I filled my DS_160 thrice, cause I was trying to find the best way to express myself in the “Have you been denied a Visa, Explain” question. The first was one I filled and submitted was bad, I blamed the VO in that one and the tone was rude, I was still angry that time lol. The second time I edited the explanation to sound and look better, but the third time I think I was able to find the right words to explain better. It was along the lines of “I was denied under section 214B ….", after all those official stuff, I began. “I THINK MY APPLICATION WAS DENIED FOR - 1. NOT HAVING TIES TO MY COUNTRY, BUT I DO HAVE ALL OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS IN MY COUNTRY(PARENTS AND THREE SIBLINGS) 2. THE CONSULAR OFFICER THOUGHT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE COST OF ATTENDANCE. I THINK HE WAS MISTAKEN, THINKING I WILL HAVE TO PAY 59K PER YEAR WHEREAS I WILL HAVE TO PAY ONLY 36K PER YEAR AFTER SCHOLARSHIP DEDUCTION, AND MY SPONSOR HAS MORE THAN THAT AMOUNT AVAILABLE IN HIS ACCOUNT. ”

Transcript for September 16th Abuja Embassy(Approved):

Fast forward to Abuja appointment day. Three officers were attending to people, I have heard of one Korean guy at the Abuja embassy from here that he is kinda …. So I had it In my mind that I will try to avoid him. To cut it short, I sha hustle my way to one Lady window, she approved the visa of the girl before me, also going for a bachelors degree

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, pass me your documents
VO: I can see you are going to DePaul University for your bachelor's degree
ME: Yes, that’s right.
VO: So what’s your plan after your study?
ME: (In my mind I started thanking God that I prepared for this question not until I started stammering when speaking) I will return to Nigeria to work as a software engineer for one of the tech companies in Nigeria, I plan to create my own tech start-up also but I know I will need to have some experience before doing that, so I am planning to work with a tech company for some time to get the experience needed( I was stammering really bad when I was saying this, it get to a point I said “Oh my God, why am I so nervous” out loud.
VO: Which of the tech companies do you plan to work with?
ME: Kuda
VO: Ku? Ku what? What do they do?
ME: Kuda is an online banking system, that simplifies the banking system In Nigeria. I love what they do and I wish to work for them
VO: Who is your sponsor
(Last time I said my uncle will be sponsoring me, but I changed my answer this time)
ME: My dad, my uncle will also ...... (cuts me off)
VO: What does your dad do?
ME: My dad is an Electrical Engineer, he is an independent contractor, he works for universities, hotels, and some other companies
VO: And your uncle?
(I re-packaged my answer for this also)
ME: My uncle owns a pharmacy business(I stopped there, I didn't want to mention that he is in the US this time)

(She types for some seconds, and I saw her stretching her hand towards the white paper. I was like what? I was expecting a denial with all the stammering that happened. But she said I will be approving your visa, at this moment I no hear shishi again. I collected the paper and left the building.)

All these happened in a minute and some seconds. She didn’t even reference anything about my last interview.

I am still so happy and it feels so surreal, and my little piece of advice is that try to back it up with prayers also. I fasted and prayed about this and it worked out. Because when I started stammering, in my mind I was like I have f*cked this one up again. But I still got my approval, maybe if I had prayed for my Lagos interview it would have been a success regardless.
Congratulations to you. Is better that you corrected yourself, Where you should have done that. And thank God for the answers prayer

Hey fellow country people!

I landed in Sweden some months back and the journey so far has been awesome.

Listen guys, no matter the narrative...... Everyone have the privilege to write his/her stories.
People fails, people succeed...... The choice is yours.
Swedish study permit still the easiest to scale through, just do the right thing and you would have your application approved.

We move .......
Thank you my brother, God bless you.

It’s funny cos you stay in Nigeria and from your posts in other forums I can tell you haven’t stepped out of Nigeria before.

You need to be schooled very well about life and how it doesn’t revolve around your low level imagination. I see very well that you can’t even comprehend what is being said in this forum and you get very sensitive to other peoples opinion.

Grow up!!!
And you that has stepped out from Nigeria, what is your impact? What you know to do is to discourage people, and talk as if you are God!

Are you the first person that will traveled outside Nigeria? Or what are you saying...

And you talk about low level imagination, what do you know?

I've sensed that you are rude. You need to learn how to talk with respect to people. Am not bothered with people's opinion. But am bothered with you DISCOURAGING people here.

Your opinion my foot!

You should grow up!

If people suffer in Canada and USA, then that same people will have a huge time to cope here. It’s just unreasonable to compare both countries to that of Sweden. I’m very sure you are still in Nigeria and haven’t been to any of this countries, why not keep calm read and learn, it’s quite unfortunate that most y’all are still in Africa nagging about people discouraging you.

I have met a lot of students who regretted tracking out because they had no one to guide them through and me personally will decline studying in Russia, Cyprus Belarus because I have heard and did my research about living standards in those countries as a foreigners.

Please get humble and learn from other peoples experiences.
Abegi! Oga experience, you're simply discouraging people. If you want to advise people, you will simply, share your own experience and tell them that " this is my own experience o. but you can try, you can never tell." Not discouraging people and saying you're sharing experience.

Your experience might not be another person experience!

Asians will encourage one another but Africans will always see the bad side and discourage their brothers.

If you are looking for a perfect place to travel to, then that would happen in your next life.

Don't get discouraged.

Don't be afraid.

Don't be a weak man.

I would rather experience it myself
than let anyone discourage me from trying with their stories.

People have relocated back to Naija from 'good countries' because they found themselves doing better here.

Don't let people's experience debar you from trying in life.
Oshe brother mi... thanks so much. We're different from each other, you're not doing well in a country does not mean any other person will not do well.

Everyone be encouraged and not be discouraged. There is God, that work everything out for good.

There's also a saying that goes 'heaven helps those who help themselves'. You can't go to an Infertile land purposely and wait for God to provide food for you. It's like going to afghanistan and hoping that God will keep you away from the talibans when you know they are in power now.

No one is saying don't come to Sweden. We are all saying, have a solid plan and target. If Sweden is your final destination, make sure to weigh your options on your study choices against the job market and other obstacles, eg language, prev work experiences, nationality etc.

But if you want to use Sweden, as the first step to other places, then feel free. My friend just got a Phd position in Australia and that has always been his preference despite being denied their visa some years ago. He still had the country in mind and now, he is moving there.

Just plan correctly, thats all.
And I don't think anyone is going to Afghanistan here, no one is talking about that. And no one is going to infertile land. And also, we all know we should have a plan in going to any country. Including US, UK, Canada, even Australia. What you should have said, is what you're just saying now. That," if Sweden is your final destination, make sure you have a solid plan." Which means, for those that want to stay there permanently.
And even at that, you still have to believe you will make it there no matter the circumstances.
Is what you believe that will manifest!

And also, I will not stop saying, you should put your plan in God's hands. Don't put God aside.

Thanks.

Please let everyone follow his or her mind. If Sweden does not pay somebody, does mean it won't pay anybody. We know the language barrier is there, but if God says that's where you will start the Journey from, there's nothing anybody can do about it.
Remember it's always good to put God first, in anything we're doing. And he will make a way, where it's seems there's no way.

Thank you

Nigerians are there and they're doing well. although it might not be easy at first, but things will always go well at time goes on. Just believe you will make it there. Is just for a moment. After finishing your program, or probably after certain years you know, you can relocate to any country of your choice then. It just a matter of DETERMINATION.

Why are you still in sweden and not UK or canada or US.
Even if you’re a citizen, I believe you’ll still be affected right since you’re not pure swedish.
Or are you in the IT/Engineering department?
Why didn’t your parents move to other english speaking country?
It’s good to let people know what they are coming into, but do not discourage anyone as those english speaking countries are not easy for some people.
A lot of Nigerians are bursting their brains to learn french just so they can enter canada, why can’t they do the same with Swedish language.

Or better still come back to Nigeria, let someone else take your place there
