The Senate has suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for six months following his remarks on the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010.

The amendment was done to reorder the sequence of polls in a general election and Omo-Agege suggested that this was done by the Senate to targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions had investigated Omo-Agege’s comment based on a petition by Senator Dino Melaye.

A gang of armed robbers on Thursday raided some commercial banks in Offa, Kwara, killing some policemen and residents as well as carting away an undisclosed amount of cash in the process.

The heavily armed hoodlums had attacked the Owode Police Station in the metropolis where they killed the policemen and some complainants before they raided the banks.

Sources said some customers who were transacting businesses in the banks were also killed in the incident which was said to have lasted one hour.

The robbers, according to eye witnesses, entered the town at about 4:45 pm and operated till about 5:40 pm unchallenged after blocking the Ilorin and Osogbo entrances into the town.

They were said to have later made their escape through Igosun, a nearby community.

Among those said to have been killed by the armed robbers were a police officer who was expected to retire in the next few months and a pregnant police woman.

The bandits numbering at least 15, according to sources, came in different vehicles while they stationed themselves at strategic locations within the town while the operation lasted.

They were also said to have snatched some motorcycles to aid their escape.

Makinwa, in a lengthy post on Instagram, had narrated how she and her friend were assaulted and intimidated by Boyega’s bodyguard while she visited the restaurant.

The Hollywood star was a guest at Cool FM, On Wednesday and while he was answering questions from OAPs, Daddy Freeze, and Kaylah Oniwo, he sarcastically claimed not to know Toke Makinwa.

In a video circulating on the internet, the “Force Awakens” actor referred to Makinwa as “that” adding that he does not “roll with bodyguards”.

He said,

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has revealed that each senator in Nigeria collects salary and allowances of N1.6 million every month.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by head of the RMAFC public relations, Ibrahim Mohammed, on Wednesday.

He said the N1.06 million figure consists of: basic-N168,866, fueling and maintenance of vehicles, N126,650; personal assistant N42,216.

Domestic Staff, N126,650, entertainment, N50,660, utilities,newspapers/periodicals, N25,330, wardrobe, N42,216, house maintenance, N8,443 and constituency, N422,166 respectively.

Mohammed said the remuneration act only covers salary and allowances but not running cost.

He said only the management of the National Assembly Service Commission could explain the N13.5 million running cost of each senator.

Residents of Soluyi/Sosanya Community in Gbagada, Lagos State, have called on the government to come to their aid after monkeys invaded the community.

The residents told Newsmen in Lagos on Monday that they could no longer bear the situation as the 'demonic' monkeys have become notorious for destroying their properties.

They noted that the animals force their way into rooms, destroying window and door nets, food stuffs and other items.

The Chairman of the community’s Landlord Association, Mr Adigun Olaleye, said that it had become difficult for the community to curtail the monkeys and their destructive attitude.

He said that the invasion might have resulted from the nearness of the community to a swamp forest that separated the community from Ifako area.

According to him, the monkeys come into residences at any time including early morning and gain entrance into rooms even if the houses are locked.

Olalaye told Newsmen that the community had written a letter to the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture.

"They said we would have to pay for them to come and pack the monkeys,” he said.

Another resident, Mr Gabriel Omopariwa, said that he was tired of the destructive attitude of the monkeys and had tried to look for ways to stop them, to no avail.

“On several occasions, these monkeys have destroyed our kitchen nets to gain entrance and steal food items.

“Several traps have been set to capture and kill these demonic animals to no avail.

“One of my neighbours, while trying to pour chemical on a monkey, fell in the bowl of the chemical; she had to be rushed to a hospital.

“She still lives with the scars from the unfortunate incident,” he said.

Nigerian striker, Junior Ajayi has finally teamed up with the Super Eagles in London and seems to have settled in well ahead of the friendly against Serbia tonight.
Ajayi, who plays for Egyptian side, AlAhly, was supposed to travel to the Eagles to Poland but couldn't due to visa difficulties.

He then joined the team in London and was formally welcomed into the fold after earning his first call up for the senior team.

President Muhammadu Buhari has told the All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, that his tenure extension, alongside that of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) is illegal.

Buhari dropped the bombshell on Tuesday before the commencement of the NEC meeting at the national secretariat of the APC where he informed a packed hall that the party should consider cancelling the tenure extension decision.

He described it as illegal, adding that “it is against the party constitution and the Nigerian constitution.”

Renowned philanthropist and second richest man in the world, Bill Gates, has publicly given President Muhammafu Buhari and his team some tough talk.
