In what was a test of faith as well as a test of emotions, members of a church in Kenya were left angry at the prank of a boy on them. The 15-year-old boy was left reeling in laughter and feeling good after his acts. A news outlet published the story as follows "Worshipers at a Pentecostal church in Nairobi’s Umoja estate sustained minor injuries after a naughty 15-year-old boy caused a stampede. The faithful bolted out of the church, falling over each other after the alleged rascal, hidden from their view, pretended to be ‘the devil’ and scared them stiff. It all began after worshipers closed their eyes and began chorusing a prayer before the sermon could begin. The boy is said to have tiptoed and picked the extra microphone at the lectern before hiding behind two loudspeakers. All of sudden, the churchgoers heard a booming voice with devilish guttural sounds rasping through the church public address system, announcing that they were now in hell and the voice speaking belonged to the devil himself. After a loud silence rent the air, the ‘devil’ ordered all those who truly believe in God to raise their hands, to which none responded. Instead, everyone was looking at each other with fear written all over their faces. The ‘devil’ then announced that everyone sits down on the floor awaiting further instructions. As the scared congregates shook and wet their pants, the pastor bolted out of the church at maximum speed before they followed suit. The sudden frenzied rush, coupled with “shetani ashindwe” shouts, created a fine mess, making some of the faithful to think it was the much-talked about biblical end time. It seems the Big Brother Naija 2018 show is living up to its tag - double wahala - as it has left many stunned with the eviction of Dee-One and Vandora. The housemates were left stunned with some saying 'this is not real' and 'they are coming back' as many couldn't come to terms with the evictions. The eviction of VanDee brought the total number of housemates who have left the house to 6 following earlier evictions of Princess, Bitto and the disqualification of Khloe and K-brule. Roger Federer says becoming the oldest world number one in tennis history - 14 years after he first topped the rankings - is a "dream come true". The 36-year-old beat Robin Haase 4-6 6-1 6-1 in the last eight of the Rotterdam Open to replace Rafael Nadal, 31, at the top of the standings. Federer surpassed Serena Williams, who was 35 when she lost her women's number one ranking in May 2017. "This one means the most at 36 years of age, almost 37," the Swiss said. "When you're older you have to work double the amount. You have to wrestle it back from someone who's worked hard to get there. "Reaching number one is the ultimate achievement in tennis. It's been an amazing journey and to clinch it here, where I got my first wildcard in 1998, means so much." Eight-time Grand Slam winner Andre Agassi previously held the men's ranking record - he was 33 when he lost the number one spot in September 2003. Federer's hopes of reaching the semi-finals in the Netherlands looked slim when he lost the first set, but he dropped just two further games to set up a tie with Italian Andreas Seppi or Russia's Daniil Medvedev. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid came from a goal down to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Adrien Rabiot's away goal had put the Ligue 1 leaders in front in the Champions League last-16 tie, but Ronaldo's double and Marcelo's late strike gave the home side the victory. The clash has been billed as potentially critical to the futures of head coaches Zinedine Zidane and Unai Emery, with both under pressure to deliver the biggest prize in European football this season, but the Madrid boss will be the happier ahead of the return fixture at Parc des Princes. Madrid, winners of the tournament in three of the last four years, were the stronger side in the opening half-hour but suffered a blow when Rabiot broke the deadlock 33 minutes in. The visitors had defended well in the absence of captain Thiago Silva, who was benched in favour of Presnel Kimpembe, but Ronaldo made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 1-1 with his 100th goal in the competition for Madrid. Ronaldo added a fortunate second before Marcelo struck a third just three minutes later, as the holders secured a valuable first-leg lead ahead of the visit to the French capital on March 6. Sadio Mane struck a superb hat-trick as Liverpool put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday. Jurgen Klopp's side are the top scorers in this season's competition and they showed all of their attacking prowess as Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino put the tie to bed before the second leg at Anfield. Mane opened the scoring after 25 minutes with the help of some questionable goalkeeping from Jose Sa, the Porto number one diving over his low shot after a driving run from Georginio Wijnaldum. The visitors were two ahead before the half-hour as Salah made it 30 for the season, becoming the first Liverpool player to reach that figure since Luis Suarez in 2013-14. Liverpool's attacking trident combined for their third goal and Mane's second after the break, and Firmino ensured all three got on the scoresheet with 21 minutes remaining. Manchester City took a giant step towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 4-0 thrashing of Basel at St Jakob-Park. Pep Guardiola's side tore Leicester City to pieces 5-1 in the Premier League at the weekend and resumed in similarly menacing mood against the Swiss champions. Basel were left to rue Dimitri Oberlin failing to punish City's early defensive vulnerability and having a penalty shout turned down as a blistering spell of three goals in the space of nine first-half minutes from Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero took the game away from them. Gundogan did his World Cup hopes no harm with a sublime second as Germany boss Joachim Low looked on from the stands and, by the time that showpiece comes around, Guardiola could be reflecting on a history-making return in Manchester. The UEFA Champions league resumed in style as Tottenham came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Juventus in Tuesday's last-16 first-leg clash in Turin. An early double from Gonzalo Higuain appeared to have set the Serie A champions up for a comfortable victory, before Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen gave Spurs a slight advantage to take back to Wembley with two away goals. Juve, unbeaten at home in the competition since losing to Bayern Munich in April 2013, took the lead inside the first two minutes through a fine volley from Higuain, although he was perhaps lucky not to be penalised for offside. The Argentina striker made it 2-0 in the ninth minute from the penalty spot, but Spurs – buoyed by their weekend win over fierce rivals Arsenal – began to take control from then on and Kane's 33rd goal of the season, the first conceded by Gianluigi Buffon in 694 minutes for club and country, gave Spurs a lifeline. Higuain missed a second penalty before the break during an uncharacteristically nervous performance from Massimiliano Allegri's side, and Spurs secured a fine result 19 minutes from time, when Eriksen wrong-footed Buffon with a free-kick. Eden Hazard's brilliant brace lifted the gloom around Chelsea as Premier League basement boys West Brom were dispatched 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Heavy back-to-back defeats against Bournemouth and Watford led to evermore voluble questions surrounding the future of head coach Antonio Conte and placed the reigning champions' hopes of a top-four finish in jeopardy. Daniel Sturridge was making his second start for West Brom but the on-loan Liverpool striker's injury jinx struck again, a hamstring injury forcing him off in the fourth minute. Chelsea captain Gary Cahill dropped to the bench but the error-strewn element of recent outings was again in evidence and Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez both could have put Albion ahead before Hazard did so for Chelsea. There was further defensive generosity to enrage Conte until Victor Moses doubled the Blues' advantage after the hour and a sublime 15th of the campaign from Hazard made the points safe. Things are not going as expected at Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez as he has endured a rather shaky start at the club. The former Arsenal player has struggled to make a mark ever since he arrived following a protracted transfer saga. Today was no different as Sanchez tried to have an impact in today's game against Newcastle united all to no avail. Man Utd lost the match by a lone goal and Sanchez was guilty of missing one of the clearest chances of the season. At one point in the game also, Sanchez was left floored by player, Deandre Yedlin. Matt Ritchie's first Premier League goal since May 2016 gave Newcastle United a shock 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday and struck a potentially decisive blow in the title race. Jose Mourinho's side suffered a second successive defeat on the road and only their third in 29 league meetings with the Magpies to stay 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City. Mourinho had failed to win in six previous visits to St James' Park in England's top flight and his players rarely looked likely to bring that run to an end in another hugely disjointed display. Chances were scarce throughout the contest but Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez wasted clear openings, while Romelu Lukaku had a goal disallowed, before Ritchie capitalised on some slack defending in the 65th minute. The visitors offered some late pressure but could not find a way past debutant goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, meaning their chances of catching City look almost gone with 11 matches left to play. Newcastle, meanwhile, climb to 13th in the table, two points clear of the relegation zone. Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra scored late goals as Watford piled the pressure Antonio Conte with a scintillating 4-1 win at home to 10-man Chelsea on Monday. Eden Hazard's fine finish appeared to have saved a point for the Premier League champions, who were again awful after a 3-0 home thumping at the hands of Bournemouth last time out. However, it only served the sting the Hornets into a late flurry, which handed Javi Gracia a massive win on his home bow as Watford boss. Tiemoue Bakayoko was booked twice inside five first-half minutes, although the Blues were already in the midst of a sloppy performance, in which they failed to test Watford's back line sufficiently. And Watford led before half-time when Troy Deeney slammed home a penalty after Thibaut Courtois felled Deulofeu, although the Watford captain could face trouble after celebrating by brandishing his middle finger. Hazard's impact seemed to have salvaged a draw, but with Chelsea with open at the back, Janmaat restored Watford's lead and Deulofeu, on his home debut, curled home before substitute Pereyra lashed in Watford's fourth to complete a famous win. Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, made the most dramatic of appearances in court today. Metuh, who is standing trial for alleged money laundering linked with former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja on a stretcher. Some days ago, the trial judge had ordered that Metuh show up in court or face the risk of forfeiting his bail after his lawyer, Emeka Etiaba informed the court in January that his client was on admission at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital for an undisclosed ailment. It was a night to forget for the home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria as they were outclassed, out-thought and outplayed by Morocco in the CHAN 2018 final. Tournament host, Morocco, went into the final as favourites on the back of some masterclass display en-route the final. It didn't take them long to stamp their mark on the final as they put Nigeria under immense pressure right from the kick-off. They narrowly missed a chance in the third minute and had the ball in the back of the net in the 7th minute following a corner from the left-hand side but the goal was correctly disallowed after the ball had gone out of play. The Atlas Lion kept pressing and almost got a deserved lead but El Kaabi's acrobatic effort came off the crossbar. That was enough warning for the Eagles as Morocco took the lead just before half-time courtesy of a goal by Hadraf. Things got worse for the Eagles after Moses Eneji, making his debut for the Super Eagles, was issued a marching order after receiving a second yellow card. Things went from bad to worse as El Karti scored a second for Morocco and Hadraf got his brace to make it 3-0. Pep Guardiola's prediction of a "complicated" trip to Burnley proved to be correct, as the Clarets made the most of Manchester City's wastefulness to snatch a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Despite their profligacy, City had looked on course for a battling win, until Johann Gudmundsson popped up in the 83rd minute to snatch a point. City boss Guardiola was forced to shrug off claims from Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho that the destination of the Premier League title is already certain, with the leaders enjoying a 15-point cushion at the top. That advantage was 16 points by the full-time whistle at Turf Moor, and City are just eight wins away from securing a third title, although they were reminded of the league's many hazards by Sean Dyche's obdurate outfit. The Burnley backline could do nothing to stop Danilo's long-distance rocket midway through the first half, but City's failure to add to their tally left the game on a knife-edge, with Raheem Sterling guilty of two shocking close-range misses. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan dazzled on their Emirates Stadium debuts as Aaron Ramsey's hat-trick led Arsenal's unceremonious 5-1 thumping of Everton. By the time £56million recruit Aubameyang displayed his midas touch in front of goal, Arsene Wenger's side were already three goals to the good and cruising on account of Aaron Ramsey's first two strikes, which came either side of a Laurent Koscielny header. Mkhitaryan set up the Wales international's opener and also laid on Aubameyang, his old partner in crime at Borussia Dortmund, for a goal on his maiden Premier League appearance, although the offside flag should have ruled that one out. Arguably, a defensive showing as abject as the ramshackle interpretation offered by Everton in the first half deserved such ill fortune. Giampaolo Pazzini came off the bench to score a dramatic late equaliser on his debut, earning Levante a shock 2-2 draw at home to LaLiga champions Real Madrid. Fellow substitute Isco thought his own late goal would prove decisive for Madrid but Pazzini struck in the 89th minute to earn the relegation-threatened hosts a crucial point against the LaLiga champions. The visitors headed to Ciutat de Valencia with back-to-back league victories under their belt, prompting hopes Zinedine Zidane's men were turning the corner despite the shock Copa del Rey quarter-final loss to Leganes. But although the Frenchman was able to name what many consider his strongest starting line-up for the first time this season, his side were twice pegged back by Levante and denied the chance to move above Valencia into third position. A goal by Nigerian striker, Gabriel Okechukwu was the difference as Nigeria advanced to the final of CHAN 2018 with a 1-0 win over Sudan in Marrakech. Sudan, who had dismissed Congo via penalty shootouts after scores stood at 1-1 in the last eight, were put to the sword by Salisu Yusuf’s men. Yusuf’s side suffered a massive blow in the opening minutes of the game when captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa was substituted after ramming with Mohamed Hashim. Nevertheless, substitute, Dele Ajiboye put off a great show – preventing the Sudanese forward line from wreaking havoc. Many parts of the United states of America today witnessed what can be best described as a breath-taking sight as there was a rare lunar eclipse. The natural scenery, described as the 'Super Blue Blood Moon' saw the moon take on different coloration in a sight that pleased many onlookers. While describing the event earlier, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said: "The Jan. 31 full moon is special for three reasons: it’s the third in a series of “supermoons,” when the Moon is closer to Earth in its orbit -- known as perigee -- and about 14 percent brighter than usual. "It’s also the second full moon of the month, commonly known as a “blue moon.” The super blue moon will pass through Earth’s shadow to give viewers in the right location a total lunar eclipse. While the Moon is in the Earth’s shadow it will take on a reddish tint, known as a 'blood moon'." People living in North America, Alaska, Hawaii, the Middle East, Asia, eastern Russia, Australia and New Zealand were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the event. Paddy Adenuga, son of Nigerian billionaire and telecom Magnate, Mike Adenuga, has revealed how he almost pulled off one of the world's biggest coups in the oil and gas industry. Paddy, in a lengthy article, disclosed that he had left the family business in 2013 to start his own oil company in a bid to carve a niche and name for himself. This led him to London where he started his own company and where he had an experience that was to change his life forever. It was in the course of his business in London that Paddy got wind of news that US oil giant, Chevron was selling its entire business in the Netherlands. He put in a bid and his company was selected. In his words, Paddy said. "Chevron are by nature, prudently selective with which companies they invite to bid. So the fact that Catalan was chosen was a big deal to me. I felt like for once in my 29 years, I wasn’t being judged solely by my last name but for my skill, merits and ability" It was not however a smooth journey from there on as he had to deal with making the right decisions, trusting his instincts, putting his experience to play. African Nations Championship favourites Nigeria bounced back from a goal behind to beat Equatorial Guinea 3-1 in their last Group C game on Tuesday. After being left stunned by Secundino Eyama Nsi’s first-half strike, Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf made tactical changes that paid dividends as Anthony Okpotu, Dayo Ojo and substitute Rabiu Ali found the net to secure victory in Stade Adrar, Agadir. Rodolfo Bodipo’s side took an unlikely 40th-minute lead as Super Eagles were caught flat-footed as Nsi powered in Miguel Ángel Mayé’s corner. Although that was the Nzalang Nacional’s only shot of the opening period, it took Yusuf’s men – who needed a draw to book a last eight ticket – until the 58th minute to forge a breakthrough as Okpotu coolly headed in his first goal in the competition. Sunshine Star’s Ojo then put the Super Eagles ahead with his long-range effort to the relief of the technical crew thanks to Ali’s assist. The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has slammed the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), accusing them of “unnecessarily overheating” the polity ahead of the 2019 elections. This was the position of the group in a statement released on Sunday by Khalid Aliyu, secretary of the JNI, a group led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar. The group challenged CAN to register as a 'political party if it wants to test its popularity'. “The herdsmen debacle – it must be understood that this is a coinage mischievously invented by CAN over time and its biased errand boys among media practitioners to stereotype an ethnic group so as to achieve a pre-planned agenda,” the statement by Aliyu read. “Why is the whole herdsmen issue heightened now i.e. 2018? Simply CAN is unnecessarily overheating the polity because 2019 is around the corner. “Our take is that CAN should better go and register as a political party and contest election if they want to test their popularity! "We, nonetheless, make bold to say that CAN is deliberately covering up by using the ‘herdsmen’ debacle as a franchise to perpetrate evil as witnessed in the ‘Boko Haram’ tale. “As cases of Christians dressed in Muslims’ garb to bomb churches is still fresh in our memories. The infamous Lydia Yusuf of Bauchi state, the Miya Barkatai would-be Christian bombers also in Bauchi state, as well as the foiled bombing of the Radio House in Abuja, after which the then minister of information and Marylyn Ogar, then SSS spokesperson, changed the storyline are still fresh in our memories.” He alleged that CAN had now devised a new approach of destabilising Nigeria in order to achieve its agenda. It was a good day at the office for Nigerian players as two players, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses got on the score sheet for their respective teams. Iwobi was in sterling form for Arsenal in the absence of Alexis Sanchez who's move to Manchester United is really close. Arsenal, short on confidence from their lose last week, welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates and were 4-0 up before half-time. Iwobi was the scorer of the second goal for Arsenal as he turned in a cross to put Arsenal 2-0 up. The game ended 4-1 with Arsenal preparing for the post-Sanchez era. Meanwhile, Victor Moses and Chelsea who played earlier in the day, also put up a masterclass performance as they ran out 4-0 winners over Brighton and Hove Albion. Moses got the last goal of the match in the 89th minute after beautifully controlling Charly Musonda's sumptuous pass before coolly slotting past the keeper and sliding on the grass in celebration.
