Btw,you still haven't told me the significance of the so called christmas tree to the birth of your Jesus. What is the correlation?I noticed you craftily evaded that part of my question
I didn't just come up with a random interpretation, you're the one who took the verse out of context. Just read the whole chapter.
As much as I know the christmas tree isn't a core christain doctrine, but a tradition of Europeans to make the yultide special. It is not even widespread; I am sure most Nigerians celebrated without the tree.
I don't run from questions, I only share as much knowledge as I have.

Keep deceiving yourself.Isn't it funny it takes an atheist to lecture you on what you should already know?Smh for these folks

Jeremiah 10
King James Version (KJV)
10 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Jeremiah 10:2-4
English Standard Version (ESV)
2 Thus says the Lord:

“Learn not the way of the nations,
nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens
because the nations are dismayed at them,
3 for the customs of the peoples are vanity.[a]
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
4 They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.

Have you even bothered to ask yourself 'what exactly is the essence of the fir tree to the celebration of your Jesus?' You folks are just too ignorant for your
Okay this is the height of ignorance; stop twisting the words of the bible to support anything you claim is right. There is nothing suggesting 'DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS' in the above passage. The whole chapter speaks against the worship of man made crafts/Idols and exults Yahweh as the true God. I don't know how you arrived at the conclusion it is against celebrating christmas. Even if we are to go by your analysis, the chapter condems trees not celebration. Seek help when interpreting scriptures. 2nd Peter 1:20

gagzee: like my secondary sch geography athest teacher wud say...xmas was originally meant 4 a greek god...so i gues kumiyi has a point cos d origin is faulty...juz ma totz anyways...
Pls pple should keep this history of christmas to themselves. If I wanted to know history I can also browse through Wikipedia. The fact that something's origin is not Ideal doesn't make it irrelevant. The apostles were first called 'christians' as an act of mockery by 'pagans' in Antioch. Today believers use the word to proclaim their identity. Is this act also 'Idolatrous and unscriptural'? If you have an argument against the motive behind the celebration, we would listen. But if you want to harp on about the origin, keep your opinion private, no one cares.

Indifferent:
thats because nigerians prefer to Kukere than to listen. and not because he is not d.o.p.e

Please. This is the silly excuse his fans always present when they defend his failure to last on the mainstream. WTH? You don't serve a vegetarian, beef and expect him to blow your trumpet. Whether he does it for the love or not, is inconsequential to the audience, who he is supposed to be affecting with his music. We are not talking about principles or theology (else, he should be fine doing it for the love), we are talking about arts and music, and in this field acceptance is what determines success. So, if your audience doesn't accept your style, you need re-evaluation. Simple as.
No one expects Basketmouth or I go die, to do comedy like Billy Hick's does; if they do,their careers wouldn't be as successful, since their audiences wouldn't relate to their jokes.
Art needs localization for it to be accepted in different societies. Hip Hop as it is, was a tool created by black americans to speak against racism, which is alien to a one-coloured country like Nigeria. In the end It's your talent and ability to tinker out something the society can relate to, that makes your art/music relevant.

Bank Manager: That's why we ought to concentrate more on "National Policy" than "Foreign Policy"..There were many challenges in Nigeria from the 70s upward.Even though we had a buoyant economy, instead of developing our country FIRST,we started helping others.
Not that it's wrong but we spent millions of dollars fighting colonialists in South Africa,Mozambique,Angola and a host of others.
Today,SA is more developed than Nigeria. They played host to the world cup years ago while we are still dragging to host cadet competitions like the U-17 Championship.Their schools are world class yet, here in Nigeria,we are still battling with strike, dragging for who will fund our schools..The same FG that started helping others in the 70's took over our "regional varsities" and started "under-funding" them.No thanks to the Military men who never knew the value of education. We posed a GIANT POSTURE to other countries yet we failed to apply the principle of "NIGERIA FIRST before others."Our roads, health and power sectors are nothing to write home about..It's high time the Nigerian govt rise up to it's challenges. It's never too late to turn things around. It's hign time we kick away ethnicity, come together, build a national government we all can be proud of and above all, retain our status as the true giant of Africa..!
Yeah just like we keep sending troops to all parts of the world, when there is insurgency in various parts of the country. Tommorow when the likes of Mali, Liberia, Cote d'ivoire, Sudan and the likes attain social stability, they would come back to mock our security situation. Its time to stop this 'big brother attitude' and find solutions to our problems.

What shi.t are you talking?
The shi.t I am talking about is that, APGA would not present a candidate for the presidential election, they would rather campaign for the incumbent president. PDP beat APC in an election where its candidate had little opportunity of campaigning; add these up. Anambra; APGA + PDP > APC. Got the shi.t now?
Politics / Re: APC To Challenge Apga's Victory At Tribunal by TeNDuLKaaY(m): 12:50pm On Dec 02, 2013
Kairoseki77: Simple thing that most people are ignoring:

APC and PDP got an equal number of votes.

That single fact is the reason the G7 govs joined APC just days after the Anambra election.

You must pay attention! 2015 will not be APGA vs APC, but PDP vs APC. wink

Anambra Election Results

PDP: Tony Nwoye of PDP came second with 97, 700.
APC: Chris Ngige of the APC came third with 95, 963.
What you did forget is that during the 2015 elections, APGA's candidate designate is Goodluck Johnathan, the PDP candidate. So Anambra polling results for 2015 presidential election is signed, sealed and delivered. Suck on that.

The referendum still stands; ASUU isn't pusyfooting nor adding more request. All they want is that the agreement be signed, not just by the FG but by both the Finance minister, cbn governor Nlc chairman; as well as immediate provision of an account with cbn with an initial fund from the FG to show it means business.

What is hard in that?
Was the CBN governor, NLc chairman, and attorney general involved in negotiations?. Why sign something you know nothing of?

Pls those of you reffering to those in support of this action as ignorant, should convincingly defend these; why did ASUU not present all its requirements during their meeting with president? Why wait for 3 weeks after this meeting to present fresh demands? Why spend 2 weeks mourning a member, when such national issue is at stake? Is it that they feel no urgency to make a resolution? Pls if you can't give reasonable answers to these, then don't attack people who are voicing their opinion on an issue that would affect their lives. www.nairaland.com/1531025/why-should-ASUU-run-life

Good move, although I doubt the practicality. If schools resume without lecturers, what do we achieve? Nevertheless ASUU has taken this too far. If they had new requests, why spend three weeks mourning a dead member, wasting the time of students who were patiently waiting for a resolution. Besides why is ASUU and the FG the only parties in negotiation for a deal that would affect state govts, students, parents, other academic bodies, and Nigeraia as a whole.... ASUU don cross boundary. https://www.nairaland.com/1531025/why-should-ASUU-run-life

8----talk till tomao! If u like call him thifnubu But only Baba Awo has don More for the Yoruba race than This man

Lastly, a man use 4yrs and even his Kinsmen are still wallowing in poverty. How can such a man impart on us all. A man tht beleives in Nigeria as a tribal Prexy can't rule us All. We wish this story was rewrote and a Brillant Son of SS were our prexy. We can't continue to suffer and smile .......................Boys no dey smile again, Boys dey ParaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaH

Nigeria needs a national leader, not a regional or tribal one. If Tinubu is a leader in the west, and second only to Awolowo in Yoruba history, fine. But how does that change the life of citizens with origins from the other hundreds of tribes? If they want support they should do things in an orderly manner first. Why protest the Anambra election in the streets of Abuja? Why bother citizens who had no involvement in the process?
Politics / Re: Tinubu Leads APC Protest Against Electoral Fraud In Abuja by TeNDuLKaaY(m): 4:20pm On Nov 28, 2013
There was no electoral fraud when this party won in Ondo and Edo states (though their candidate in Edo condemned the elections, but accepted the results declaring him the winner). They lose an election in another state, the same body which was commended previously, suddenly becomes a compromised commission, what a shame? Please if they have any complaints on the electoral process they should go through the right source, this is what election tribunals are meant for, for crying out loud. They should stop leading inflamatory campaings and inciting violence.

RUN; to take control of the trend of events.
RUIN; to shatter or destroy.
In this context ruin gives a more devastating view to what I want to express. Thank you sir, but I think I'm in order.
And if you read through the article, you would see that the lives affected by this strike goes beyond those of students and lecturers, in otherwords you don't need to be in the university to be affected. Notwithstanding, I am a bona fide student of the first (indigenous) university, a true Lion in all aspect.
