PRP Ikyaan Flags Off Campaign in Benue Amidst Mammoth Crowd

Dooshima Hir

The Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Reverend Frederick Ikyaan, Saturday, kicked off his 2019 Gubernatorial campaign in the State in the presence of a massive crowd.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony in Adikpo, headquarters of Kwande Local Government Area of the state, Ikyaan called on party leaders to mobilize their communities to troop out on March 2nd and vote the PRP into government house.

Ikyaan said he and the entire PRP candidates are in the race to resuscitate the 43-year old Benue state from its present depressing condition.

In his words, Ikyaan regretted that “our Benue of tremendous potentiality has been turned into a limbo of all-round, perennial backwardness and massive misery.

“Caught in this resulting frustration, particularly the youths, our future and hope, are so disillusioned that many have found refuge in hard drugs, cultism, hooliganism, armed robbery, kidnapping and rape among other vices.

“Business activities are low and slow while our so-called “civil service” state has long been starved of workers’ salaries, pensioners’ benefits and contractors, their due payments.”

Ikyaan who further flayed the bastardization of Benue’s public primary school system, and dearth of industries in the state assured that when voted into office, he will fulfil the yearnings of the Benue people for a fair, open and honest governance which places the common good over and above private wealth accumulation.

He named security, law and order, agriculture, wealth and job creation, human development and critical infrastructure as part of the policy blue print that will be religiously pursued and executed by his administration between 2019 and 2023.

Other areas, he said, include commerce and industry, housing, environment and sanitation as well as health aspect of human development.

Ikyaan who expressed optimism that with a free and fair election, the PRP would coast home to landslide victory in all of the elective offices the candidates are vying for also assured that the PRP will ensure equitable distribution of the scarce resources to enable all citizens realize their potentials.

He then urged the electorates in Benue state to vote for all the candidates of the PRP during the general elections, because according to him, that is the only way to effect positive change in the state.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Falalu Bello who expressed confidence that the PRP was ready to win the general election, called on the political umpire to ensure free and fair conduct of elections.

Represented by the National Secretary, Babatunde Aminu, Malkam Bello said “The PRP is not here to play. God-willing, by March 2019, the Benue people will have a new governor.

“PRP is the key and it signifies an entrance into a new future. Vote wisely, stay and defend your votes and do not allow them to use propaganda to divide you” he said.

The Benue PRP Chairman, Timothy Malu urged the electorates to ensure that they vote for the PRP in the general election saying the only way to secure their future and that of the state was to queue behind PRP’s Revd Ikyaan and all its candidates.

Other speakers at the occasion stressed the need for the electorate to ensure that they vote for PRP in order to have a new and developed Benue.

Why my parents are not entitled to my money, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun reveals

www.nairaland.com/attachments/8497961_balogunprofile_jpeg61fb9727f9e0e24acb06bdc93b9be8f2

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has revealed that his parents are not entitled to his money. Balogun earns thousands of pounds every week as a Premier League star, playing for Brighton & Hove Albion in England.

Born to a Nigerian father and a German mum, the 30-year-old said his parents don’t ask him for money because they are not entitled to it.

Leon Balogun says his dad is shy to ask him for money (Twitter/Leon Balogun )

‘It’s my money’

“My parents for example, even if I give them something, they would not accept it, because they say ‘that’s the money you work for’,” he said in an interview with Oma Akatugba of Oma Sports TV.

“Even my father, sometimes, of course, he’s shy to ask, because he knows I work for the money.

“I sacrifice things for this money, if I give him or buy him something, he’s always very grateful.

Balogun’s care is a far cry from a typical Nigerian player who is successful

“And of course sometimes he asks me but not for money, he asks me if I could help him out with something.”

Balogun’s case is a far cry from the typical African footballer who automatically starts bearing the financial burden of the extended family when they become successful.

The classic example is Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor who fell out with his family over their excessive financial demands.

Austria Ahead Of Nigeria In Race For Kano-Born Red Bull Salzburg Teen Sensation

The Austrian Football Association are ahead of their Nigerian counterparts in the race for highly-rated Red Bull Salzburg striker Junior Chikwubuike Adamu, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.

Although Adamu was born in Kano to Nigerian parents, it's the Austrians who have made the first move to cap-tie him after inviting him to their U18 team.

The center forward made his debut for Austria U18s against Switzerland in October and has earned three caps to date for the age group.

Adamu is seen as one of the brightest young talents in Austria and made his professional debut for the feeder team of Red Bull Salzburg, FC Liefering, in the 2 Liga last month at the age of seventeen.

He scored 21 goals in 22 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg U16 team during the 2016-2017 season.

Adamu began his career at Gsv Wacker followed by spells at Grazer Athletiksport Klub Juniors and Red Bull Salzburg, whom he joined in 2015.

Kelvin Arase, Marvin Egho and Karim Onisiwo have played for Austria's national teams but remain eligible to turn out for Nigeria.

Ajax Amsterdam joins race to sign Super Eagles’ Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen

Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam has joined the race to sign Super Eagles and Charleroi forward Victor Osimhen.

The 19-year-old attacker is under contract with VfL Wolfsburg and is let this season to Charleroi, where he is currently on fire scoring 7 goals from 13 duels.

Charleroi, however, has an option to buy Osimhen, so Ajax will have to wait patiently. The 19-year-old attacker would have to cost €3 million.

Wolfsburg have also not ruled out having him back in the squad next season as he has been offered terms of an extension with a pay rise by the team after impressing at Charleroi.

Frederick Lanshima Ikyaan (PRP Gubernatorial Candidate for Benue State).

By Dooshima Hir

The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, in Benue state has commissioned Frederick Ikyaan Campaign Organisation, FICO, ahead of 2019 general elections.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Director General (DG) of Ikyaan governorship campaign, Ade Tersoo Linus said the organisation will embark on issue based campaigns to sell their candidate.

Ade said the campaign organisation was putting measures in place to kick off a state wide ward by ward campaign to garner support for their candidate.

Also speaking, the Chaplain of University of Mkar, Benue, Rev. Terumun Faajir said the time has come for the church to take its rightful place in the politics and leadership of Benue to enable it correct the ills.

He noted that Benue state has been dedicated to God adding, “We want a government that will trigger spirituality in the followership, peace and humility in the people and development of the state.

He said a lot of Benue families are wallowing in abject poverty in the state and only the Ikyaan leadership from the PRP can liberate the Benue people.

He therefore, advised managers of Ikyaan campaign to discuss issues during campaigns and avoid such campaigns that will spread hatred and bitterness among the people.

Rev. Faajir also called on PRP supporters and youths in Benue to eschew all forms of violence that will mar the peace in the state ahead of 2019 general elections.

NAIRALAND NIGERIAN FOOTBALL AWARDS!

A good and blessed Morning House.

We have all analyzed football here for a couple of years now. We have tasted the joys of victory and agonies of defeat from different competitions we have participated in. And each one we have come out better as we have always learnt one, two or more lessons.

Believe it or not we have here in the house some of the best followers and analysts of Nigerian football. Forget that we argue all the time, but these arguments generally have yielded fruits in certain areas and our national teams have gotten better for it.

DON'T WE THINK IT IS TIME WE STARTED ROLLING OUT AWARDS, IN VARIOUS CATEGORIES, TO WELL DESERVING NIGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM FOOTBALLERS?

Now this is just a suggestion.

If a larger part of the house agree, we go ahead and set up a players selection committee which will be saddled with the responsibly of:
1. Coming up with various award categories eg: Most improved player in 2018, best Nigerian goal in 2018, Most impressive new inclusion, Best young player (U20 and U17), Best SE Goal keeper 2018, Nigerian Player of the year, best Super Falcons player etc.
2. Nominating players for the various award categories selected above (Maximum of 3 for each category). Note that criteria for the selection of these players must be spelt out.
3. Collating and announcing of results after the votings.

How do we come up with who and who will make up the Players' Selection committee?
I would suggest a 3 Man (or woman smiley) Committee. The house will have to suggest monikers. Every member of this thread or even visitors would have to nominate one person he or she feels should be a member of this committee. Note that you cannot nominate your self and you cannot nominate more than 1 person. 3 monikers with the highest number of nominations will form the players selection committee.

If we agree, we can set 1 week period for which we can suggest names for the selection committee and the selection committee will have to start work immediately after the Nigeria vs Uganda friendly. So that the voting process will commence first week in December.

At the end of the exercise a thread will be created to publish the names of awardees and mods called upon to take to front page or we may even take it to the sports sections of major News Papers in Nigeria.

Note again that it is just a suggestion and open to more ideas and suggestions.

The simple thing to do for a start is if you agree you click "like" and if you do not agree you click ''share''.

Seyi Akinwunmi: We want Real Madrid’s Marvin Akinlabi for the Super Eagles

By Josephine Azubuike.

igeria Football Federation (NFF) vice president Seyi Akinwunmi has declared that Real Madrid youngster Marvin Akinlabi will soon have the chance to play for the Super Eagles.

The Spanish-born 18-year-old, who is of Nigerian and Korean descent, scored for Real Madrid’s junior side in the UEFA Youth League against Viktoria Plzen in midweek.
The talented midfielder could have his pick of which country he wants to represent at international level, but Nigeria are confident of convincing him to don the famous green and white.

“I know him Marvin Akinlabi, he scored a goal in the UEFA Youth League [on Tuesday],” Seyi Akinwunmi said.
“We are speaking with everybody but it is not everybody that wants to play for Nigeria, it is not everybody that their parents want them to play for Nigeria.

“We are monitoring every single Nigerian kid out there, the ones that are good enough and who are willing to play for Nigeria, we are speaking to all of them, even those who are not willing.
“Definitely Akinlabi is in our plans.”

Rohr reveals player that might never play for Super Eagles

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has admitted that it would be hard to wrestle talented Queens Park Rangers’ teen prospect, Ebere Eze, from England after his debut for the U20s.

Ebere trained with Rohr’s team during their camping exercise in England and even took part in a test game organised among the players, after the cancellation of a planned friendly game.

Unlike Ola Aina who has since gone on to establish himself as a full fledged international since that camp exercise in London, Eze wasn’t approached by Rohr since then despite his fine form for QPR in the English Championship.

England has since called him up to their U20 team and Rohr told KweseESPN in an interview: “So could he still be in Nigeria’s plans? Yes.

“But it will be a long process before authorisation for him to play for us.”

Nah, the point I was trying to make is that Iwobi is finally getting the recognition his game deserves. The pundits (I prefer to call them airheads) on TV would always try to give all the accolades to the likes of Ozil, Ramsey, and Lacazette but those who know (Unai Emery, for instance) understands the value of what Iwobi brings to the team.

Super Eagles captain Mikel promises to donate money to Nigeria Amputee Football Team

Steve Dede

According to BBC Sport, Mikel wants to support the Nigeria Amputee Football Team with money and kit.

Super Eagles of Nigeria

Mikel John Obi has promised to donate money to Nigeria Amputee Football Team » who are cash-strapped ahead of the 2018 Amputee Football World Cup.

Known as the Special Eagles , the Nigeria Amputee Football Team have been soliciting for money to fund what would be their first World Cup campaign.
According to BBC Sport, Mikel wants to support the team with money and kit.

Fred Edoreh who has been coordinating fund-raising for the team said Mikel has promised to help out.
" We've spoken to a representative of John Mikel Obi who has offered to help the team, " Edoreh told BBC Sport .
" His support will come as a big boost, but right now the dilemma is to find the flights to get the squad to Mexico.”

Race against time

With just a day to go to the kickoff, the Special Eagles are in a race against time to make it to 2018 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico after missing out on the last three editions due to lack of funding.

Nigeria face Brazil in their first game of the Amputee World Cup on Sunday, October 28 and the first batch of the team made of eight players and coach will leave Nigeria on Wednesday.

Fund-raising is still ongoing to ensure that the second batch of players and coaches make it to Mexico before the first game on Sunday.

Several Nigerians including President of the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick and a host of Super Eagles » players have thrown in their support for the team.

It has been a hard journey for the team who got into an accident earlier in October on their way to Abuja to secure visas for their trip.
