Didn't Messi play in the 2006 ucl?

Didn't he play against Chelsea?

Any way no problem let's call it 2.

Messi had won 2 ucl before Neymar came.

How can a club exchange 0 Ballon dor for 6 Ballon dors.

Show me any club that won the champions league without major contributions from 2 or 3 big players.

Point out one club.

Here below is a good example of why you cannot just wake up one morning and be shouting; this one go, that one go.
Busquets go, Pique go, Alba go, Suarez go, Vidal go, Rakitic go, Roberto go, Messi go.

You can't spend money and wipe out the entire squad and then expect them to immediately hit the ground running and coman win champions league for you.

The truth remains that it is practically impossible for all the oldies to go this summer..
Before you realise it you'd be battling for Europa league spots.

*I see Pique, Alba and Roberto staying.

*I see Suarez, Rakitic, Busquets and Vidal leaving.

If we achieve this, it would be a very good first step towards the rebuilding process.

All those here fantasizing and expecting a total clear out of 9 of the oldies is on a long thing.

Brother, the advertising was cool. It's a hook. Something that'd want you to know more. It isn't necessarily trolling per se. They saw something that would basically won them more customers a d they exploited on it. Only people with no sense of reasonable justice will see it otherwise.
I admit the concept was cool.

It was good word play.

But the problem is that it didn't originate from them.

That 8-2 stuff was all over social media that night immediately the match ended.

For a renowned organization to start using it when it wants even a concept of theirs; is the only fuuccck up I see there.

But truth be told there would still be some really pissed off Barca fans esp in Catalonia who are never gonna find any humour with that..

PoliticsRe: Where Does History Leave The Cowards? Case Of Akinwunmi Ambode! by tesppidd: 7:10am On Aug 18, 2020
You guys have a very myopic view of the term "coward"

A coward is not only when an Ambode is stopped from contesting an election by the godfather.

A coward is also when an Ambode is held on the hand by a godfather and singlehandedly makes him a governor.

If you claim you are not a coward why not fight for yourself to be a governor? Why not use your own power and influence and make yourself a governor?

Look at Obaseki.
He is a big coward because Oshiomole carried him on his head and made him governor.
Obaseki did not even know how he became governor.
He just found himself being sworn in.

That is a coward.

Teams and players score to send a message.

A 3 - 1 win is respectable. They know, we know. But respect was never the intention. Disgrace was the intention.

Go back and look at all heavy wins between heavyweight. A message was always being sent.

Both 2 - 0 and 10 - 0 does the same work.

But then, one is a win, the other is a disgrace.

There was a reason the players were laughing there and then on the pitch, and bragging thereafter. The game wasn't about mere qualification. Stop acting like its not obvious.

They intended to send a message, to make someone cry, and that they did.

I'm done with this discussion, sir
There are cases where teams actualy show respect and take their foot off the pedal once a comfortable scoreline is achieved.
That is respect.
So you're completely on point.

But it's completely optional.

We can't be mad at Bayern for that and take it personally.
If e vex us make we go revenge. grin

Okay.....maybe I'm too rash. Emotions are high, I agree.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't be preparing for life after Messi.

As for your other post, I wasn't really blaming Messi for us being reliant on him.

He's nothing but a victim of his own brilliance. I've just never been a fan of passtomessi, even when we were reaping from it actively. And now that it's affecting us negatively, it's really dejecting
Ma Guy we need beta coach wey get liver and sense.

A world class coach should be able to solve that Messi dependency.
Like FirstbornWds said; probably relieve Messi of a free role and restrict him to his position MAYBE.

Yes, I personally stated it on this thread that only Messi could ride us past Bayern.

But that begs the question, how long are we going to keep relying on him to sort us out?

What happens in matches that he's human and can't do anything, who would step up?

Our over reliance on Messi is more harm than good. Yes, it's exhilarating watching Messi ride us past opposition, we'd forever keep relishing it...

My problem is, why are we holding on to him like he won't ever leave us? Why?

We haven't even started planning for life after Messi. We don't even want to have a discussion about it, because it's an insult to Messi.

Shey Messi no go leave again?
You want to sell a man who's still the best footballer in the world simply because the team over depends on him?
Over depend!

I am sorry Baracko, you're my guy but that's got to be the most stupiid thing I ever heard.

It's obvious you're channelling your grievance at the wrong quarters.
You are obviously blaming Messi for the over reliance on Messi.
How could you blame Messi for over reliance on himself?
What is the work of the coach?

It's not your fault though. When Barca have employed farmers as coaches recently.
Mediocre coaches everywhere. That's what's affecting you guys.

Coaches will come and collect 5 million pounds a year but still cannot solve a Messi dependency problem.

I miss big time coaches like Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, Capello and co.

Reading comments here about Messi leaving Barcelona is quite shocking..
What is shocking about it?

I remember vividly in 2014 on this thread, a number of persons wanted a 27 year old Messi sold only because we hadn't won the Champions league in 3 years.

So don't be shocked...

Wetin you dey talk like this sef? huh undecided

It's because Messi is in the Team that's why they can't do without him, Barcelona against Napoli without Messi will be like Napoli vs Sassuolo, but if Messi and the old guys goes, the rest will Learn to fend for themselves.

I've said this before, Barcelona needs rebuilding, and doing so with Messi will yield the same result that got us where we are today, because the new players will still be dependent on him
Oga;

With quality players like Neymar and Dembele it was possible to build a suberb team with Messi.

We need a board that can give us quality signings and a coach that can tinker with the system.

A total of 9 old guys cannot just go like that at once. All at the same time.

It has never been done in the history of football.

You want to wake up from your slumber and say Messi should go.
Alba, Suarez, Pique, Busquets, Suarez, Vidal, Roberto, Rakitic, all of you are old, oya go.

I'm not asking him to be sold because of performances.

I'm asking him to leave so we can face what we dread the most now.

Wouldn't it have been better if we list to Bayern, 8 - 2 without Messi playing?

Would Bayern have even scored 8 against a Messi-less Barça?

The presence of Messi infuriated them the more, and they sort to disgrace him even more.

When Messi leaves, we approach our worst fears sooner than later. That's why I'm advocating for him to leave already
Wow!

Since it has come down to cherry picking games.

Look at the second round match against Napoli;
Do you have any credible evidence that we would have crossed Napoli without Messi to coman even play the Bayern sefhuh

Look at the group stages ; do you have any credible evidence that we would have qualified from that group stage without Messi? and then coman even play Napoli sefhuh

Our people are just myopic. Letting go off ancestors from our team doesn't involve Messi. I mean, this guy is better than every youngster out there in everything. It's not as if he's slow or anything but just because we want to let go of oldies.

There are better things we should focus on abeg. Messi's position is not one of the problem
And then they are talking about age as if that is all that matters.

We let Xavi go at 33 Messi must go at 33.

Okay so we let Ronaldinho go at 28, why didn't we let Messi go at 28 too?
