Yes, russia pulled out of NW Ukraine in a hurry. No, it didn’t go according to plan. They took a beating on the roads during the hasty withdrawal…there’s a lot of abandoned armor and weapons…not to mention stuff destroyed during the retreat. Fear of being encircled led to that retreat.
All their hard fought gains…all lost at significant cost in men and materiel.


Unfortunately for the Russians, they didn’t even leave a dug out force to tie down significant portions of the defenders of Kiev. And now these Ukrainian units can be quickly sent to the front in the East.

Meanwhile the Russians will need weeks to reconstitute the battered Kyiv invasion forces into fighting fit units.

The battle of Kyiv is over, and it’s ended with a Ukrainian victory. The next phase - the battle in the East - is still up for grabs. But at this stage, you’d be unwise to rule Ukraine out.


Meanwhile, multiple western countries are now preparing to send heavier equipment to Ukraine. Armored troop carriers, longer range artillery, anti-ship missiles etc.

It’s going to be tough for Russia.

Russia’s grand plan was to take over Kyiv, kill Zelensky and install a puppet leader who would then ‘negotiate’ with Russia and give Russia everything they wanted.

Other plans included taking over their major cities, cutting off the bulk of the Ukrainian army in the east and destroying their military to keep them as a permanent Russian puppet.

This has now failed completely. Fully 70% of Russia’s entire standing army is in ukraine and still no headway.
