Codes151: jeez your so Naive! The fact that a ship is seen without authorization doesn't mean u have to bomb o Oga! U have sea patrol that can intercept ( finding out what they carry! To where n from wher etc) except they resist or sth before u launch air attack! Biko! Stop making a naussance of yourself! Cuz I bet u don't know anything about anything!
Unless they refused to clear! Fine!! But if they were as naive as u to bomb sth just cuz they saw it via air surveillance then that's lame!
Don't go about talking about sth that u know nothing about! See who's accusing me of being 'naive'. They KNOW what they are carrying. You think those canoes are covered boats? The bunkerers fill the Canoes with stolen oil and float them down the creeks. They also have a fair idea where the stolen crude may end up. Smoke from illegal refineries are a tell-tale marker of their location. For all we know, the nearest patrol boat could be HOURS away, and an expedition could sail through dangerous waters. Before you gather an intervention force with sufficient enough manpower and send them down the creeks, what's the guarantee the canoe would still be in that vicinity? Or that the contents would not have been offloaded? Kudos to the NAF |

winj: canoe crude oil? 30% of Nigeria's oil is stolen by Lebanese, Chinese and other multinational companies USING massive oil tankers for over 50 years now and you are wasting $80,000 PER Missile to shoot small time canoe oil thiefs
what a useless country!!! How do you think the stolen crude gets to the massive, ocean going tankers? Canoes feed barges that feed the tankers. It's a supply chain. |

Originalsly: I'll engage you...my better. The question is TIME ...that the barges may not be there by the time the troops arrive. I don't think you have a clue about how fast barges move or you wouldn't be writing this ignorance as a show of wisdom. And are you forgetting the barges were attacked by helicopter?....which can monitor the movement of the barges?.... and do you think barges are amphibious? ... that they can leave the waterway and take cover in the bushes? Ah. So you assume the helicopter has limitless fuel and will hover there for hours or days until a marine force can arrive? See how you say 'waterway' as if there's just one water body in that region i suggest you apprise yourself on how tortuous the creeks of the Niger Delta can be. Originalsly: and do you think barges are amphibious? ... that they can leave the waterway and take cover in the bushes? Canoes can easily be dragged onshore. Obama never asked for or received that money, since is it ILLEGAL to receive campaign funds from foreign nationals. It is not the first time Nigerians would be using politics to hammer. Originalsly: Nearby or far away... you think there is no way the army can get to the scene? The area may be filled with militants and soldiers would-be killed... so they shouldn't go..... that's how cowards think. And you think with all the shooting most of the oil would not leak but just be there sitting and waiting to be burnt off? Your thinking is like that of the ones that gave the command to fire on the barges. Of course the army can get to the scene. The question is TIME. What's the guarantee the barges would still be there when they arrive ? Working to minimize casualties is smart thinking. You kids that grew up believing Rambo was real are the ones who prefer an approach that would be much less effective. Any leaked oil would remain on the surface of the water and would have likely been burnt in the near instantaneous fire/explosion after the firing commenced. I will ignore your childish attempts to insult your betters. |

Originalsly: They can radio in the location of the barges.... fly in troops to seize them. The oil can be off loaded at a legal port and the barges used by the military for other purposes. As it is now... the oil would leak out and contaminate the river and streams... people who use that water would be faced with health hazards... the fishes and other forms of life would be contaminated.... the fish you eat extra week may be one such fish... so no matter how far away you are..this can affect you. When the barges sink.... that stream would eventually be blocked and guess what would happen when it rains? All of this because of these dumb military people. And what if there are no nearby troops to intercept? Or if the area is so remote or filled with hostile millitants that any action will lead to casualties ? Why do you think there will be significant pollution when much of the oil will be burnt off in the fire and explosion ? |
