Good enough that she survived, but what a crazy decision to choose to stand on a soak away pit

Politics › Re: CBN-Hajj Brouhaha: Tale Of A Country And Her Religious Bigots. by texazzpete(m): 7:08pm On Aug 05, 2016
The OP is just plain silly.

First of all, the economy today is in a FAR worse state than it was in last year, and a subsidy from 197 to 160 is way less than subsidizing from 338 to 197.

More importantly, justifying a wrong act by claiming "this was done for Christians too" is just daft. Many of us who are criticizing this are doing so because this is an unacceptable waste of taxpayer funds on what should be a personal pilgrimage. Many of us have condemned Govt sponsorship of religious pilgrimages in the past.

I suggest the OP learns to pay tax so he can muster the same indignation many of us feel when our leaders waste our money so recklessly, instead of moronically trying to discuss this with a lens of religious bias.

because Subsidy payment was never the issue.

Allowing criminals to hike subsidy payments from approx 300bn to 2+ trillion in a year was the main reason.

GEJ happily turned a blind eye and deaf ear to corruption.

You might have to do more readings, as you are comparing Apples to Oranges here....

Royalties from foreign company to Nigeria goes to the Nigeria government and it is purely received and keep as forex and increases Nigeria's foreign reserve....On the other hand, a Nigeria in diaspora sending money to his relatives in Nigeria or doing a construction project in Nigeria, that dollar sent (e.g. from the US)....that dollar must be converted to Naira for onward delivery to the recipient...there is no reserve....the local bank have to meet that increase demand for Naira, it is very simple.

Even if the local bank pays the recipient in dollar, which is unlikely, I cannot use dollar to go buy tipper of white sand from Baba Bola, he needs Naira notes, again increasing demand for Naira notes!
This also ensures supply of dollars is low, hiking up the exchange rate and coming round to bite you in the butt when you complain that it costs you more to import a car from America.

On the surface, this looks like a smart move from the CBN.

Nigerian Youths! O My Nigerian Youths!!!
Watch as the very same youths; Boys, Girls, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Muslim Christian, Educated and Illiterate will all mock this young educated man and wish how he will be bottom on the polls because he doesn't belong to PDP, APC, APGA or Labour Party.
I have said it in the past and will say it again, Nigeria will ONLY get better when her youths start to unite irrespective of ethic, religious or status divides to fight the shameless, corrupt and recircled old politicians (men and women) who keep running for political positions and patronage and then pass then barton to their kids and loyalist.
APC, PDP, Christianity, Islam or the 6 geopoliuregions are not the problems of Nigeria. The problems and solutions lies in the hands of the Nigerian youths.
If Turkey was to be in Nigeria, we would have currently been under a military regime since 3 weeks ago, while the likes of Atiku, Tinubu, Uzor Kalu would have started patronizing the Military regime for contracts and portfolios. The very same men who said they believe in Democracy.
Nigerian youths should start a political party, unite and flush out these greedy old buffalos from determining the future of you and your generation.
This is childish talk. 'Youth' alone should NOT be a qualification for any post. Also, many youths in Nigeria have more than proven themselves to be as terrible (or even worse!) than the old ones they are replacing.

Just take a look at all the compromised, tribalist scumbags you have posting on Nairaland and tell me if you think those are the type of folks you want charting the future of this nation.

Who cares about your 'respect'? Does it pay bills?

I'm not sure why you perennial opponents of this Government are so perturbed over newspaper stories. Are people convicted based on that? Do they not receive a fair trial where they are allowed to mount a vigorous defense?

Either way, this is immaterial. My comment was not on the 'newspaper trial' as you put it, but more on the fact that - incredibly - you and your cohorts seemed to be under the impression that it is impossible to steal and transport huge sums of money.

When Nyesom Wike commisioned a boatload of roads after just 2 months in power, these same wailing dolts were praising Wike and blasting Amaechi.

Now a project conceptualized by OBJ, reframed by Yar'Adua, nearly destroyed by GEJ and now completed by Buhari, they are falling over themselves to praise GEJ.

Did anyone tell him not to finish the rail line? Budget was provided from 2012 - 2014 yet no action.

very soon, even the 2nd Niger bridge that was a GEJ campaign promise and that he hurriedly signed a deal for in 2015, they will claim it as a GEJ project when Buhari completes it .
