I have to admit that a lot of us women that make our own money and are able to take care of ourselves have a hard time seeing a man as the head of the household. It may work out in the white community, but the same cannot be said of us blacks. This might explain why some men tend to stray away from such women. Even the bible says the husband is the leader among equals. God made this so for a reason. Also, I wouldn't say Nigerian men are intimidated by these women, I think saying the men avoid such women would be more appropriate. |

Conclusion::xtycod, you are not even an igbo. Even the igbos themselves know Obasanjo is not their enemy. Lots of igbos on Nairaland have condemned you and don't want anything to do with you and your bigotry. Obasanjo wouldn't appoint igbos as Finance Minister, Central bank governor, U.S. Ambassador, Head of NAFDAC, Chief of Air Staff etc ,if he thought of igbos as his enemies. It is very unfortunate that mamajama would make a statement asking igbos to stick to business and not politics. That is an opinion held by him, not the lot of us yorubas. I created this thread to show that yorubas do not hate igbos and to prove this, I wrote some of the powerful positions in which Obasanjo has appointed igbos in his government. For the record, no other Nigerian leader has appointed so many igbos into powerful positions as Obasanjo has. If yorubas hated igbos, a yoruba leader would not appoint as many of them into top positions in his government - like Central bank governor for instance. @tonim thank you oo. I'm happy I'm not the only one who sees the blatant hatred xtycod has for the yorubas. Your statement is well in order. @ Ninetofive The Igbo people have drank a lot of hatered from you Nigerians, since this is the view you guys hold about usDude, you need to calm down. Hating the yorubas is not going to do you any good. The yorubas are not your enemy. In the history of Nigeria, no Nigerian leader has appointed this many igbos into top positions as Obasanjo, and all we get from a bigot like you, xtycod, is hatred toward yorubas. You complain about being marginalized, Obasanjo puts your people into top positions and is this how you pay yorubas back ? Xtycod, you and Docokwy are the biggest bigots and tribalists in the whole of Nairaland. |

Court freezes Governor Nnamani of Enugu's foreign accounts, 32 houses http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200705283473242 A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the freezing of 12 current accounts allegedly operated in the United States by the outgoing Governor of Enugu State, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani. He is also to temporarily forfeit 32 properties, comprising houses, premises and schools, which he is said to have acquired with public funds. The court presided over by Justice Tijani Abubakar gave the orders on Friday while ruling on an ex parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The accounts are believed to be among the 20 which the United States Department of Justice is probing, with a view to also freezing them. The 20 accounts are said to have various sums totalling $ 1, 834, 672.85. The Federal High Court process was exclusively made available to one of our correspondents in Lagos on Sunday. The EFCC had in the suit No FHC/L/C/331/2007 filed on May 22 named 17 associates of the governor, including his two sisters that were allegedly used to commit the financial crimes. The associates are Mrs Chinero Nwigwe ( nee Nnamani); Davie Nwigwe (nee Nnamani); Rock City Group Plc; Jefferson LLC; Cookie LLC; Rainbow Associates LLC; Ferguson Group Plc; Jasmine Holding Corporation LCC; and Intercontinental Associates. Others are the C & C Project LLC; Elizabeth Group LLC; Rainbownet Nigeria Ltd; Cosmos 105.5 FM; Renaissance University Teaching Hospital; Renaissance University; and Mea Mater Elizabeth High School. EFCC‘s lawyer, Mr. Kelvin Uzozie, had told the judge on Friday that the associates were being investigated for their alleged involvement in the operation of the accounts and managing the properties. Uzozie also argued that the accounts and the properties were proceeds of embezzlement and money laundering. He also claimed that the temporary forfeiture order was necessary, pending the conclusion of the EFCC‘s investigation into the activities of the associates. Uzozie, therefore, urged the court to grant his client‘s prayers. After listening to Uzozie’s argument, Abubakar said, “The application is granted. It is hereby ordered that the houses, buildings, premises comprising schools, and bank accounts listed in the schedule to the application and the properties of the 17 associates be hereby temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government , pending the conclusion of investigation into the activities of the said persons and organisations with money laundering and embezzlement. “All rents and fees on the said properties due and yet- to- be paid or revenue generated therefrom should be paid into an interest – yielding account operated by the EFCC.” The judge was, however, concerned about the fate of the students that might be affected in the Renaissance University Teaching Hospital; Renaissance University; and Mea Mater Elizabeth High School. He directed the EFCC to “ensure that the schools be carefully and properly managed to guarantee continuance of learning without interruption.” Our correspondent in Enugu also learnt on Sunday that the Department of Justice is probing into how Nnamani used one of his sisters in the US to open 20 accounts simultaneously in the Birmingham and Orlando branches of Regions Bank DBA AmSouth Bank between January and February, 2007. Nnamani, who has been indicted for corruption to the tune of $147m by the EFCC, is being probed in the US under the Bank Secrecy Act/ Structuring/ Money Laundering. The department, in its bid to fast-track the investigations, had written to the EFFC, requesting that the certified copies of graft charges against the governor be made available to it. The letter by the department’s Deputy Chief Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section, Ms. Linda Samuel, dated May 16, 2007, was exclusively obtained by one of our correspondents. A form attached to the letter titled, “Suspicious Activity Information/ Description”, explained that Nnamani and his relatives were accused of an unusual account activity involving wire transfers from the bank through its internal process. The letter reads, ”The purpose of this SAR is to report Chimaroke Nnamani and his, (relatives) for unusual account activity involving wire transfers from Regions Bank DBA AmSouth Bank designated high risk country, Nigeria. “This case was referred through an internal process. Nnamani is identified as a PEP and is under indictment by the Nigerian government for money laundering and diversion of government funds outside the country. “Nnamani and , (relatives) are authorised signors on the business checking account number 46661697 in the name of Rock City Group Limited Liability Company. “The account was opened on January 2, 2007 at the Orlando main branch in Orlando FL. Deposits to the account consist of a $10,000 transfer of funds from account number 46661700 in the name of Hill Gate LLC; a $398,000 cheque from Wedgebrook Heathrock LLC; and two wire transfers totalling $740,000. “Wire transfers were originated by , (relatives) via CitiBank in Fairfax , VA. Funds are disbursed from the account through the purchase of three cashier cheques totalling $998,000 payable to Fidelity National Title Insurance.” The department further listed eight accounts opened with $10,000 each on January 2 and January 31, 2007 at the same bank. The accounts are numbers 46661603 in the name of Jefferson LLC; 46661611 in the name of Cooke LLC; 46661656 in the name of Rainbow Associates LLC; 46661662 in the name of The Ferguson Group LLC; and 46661670 in the name of Jasmine Holdings Corporation LLC. The others are numbers 46661689 in the name of Intercontinental Associates LLC; 46661719 in the name of C & C Project LLC ; and 46661727 in the name of Elizabeth Group LLC. The department stated that the sums in the accounts were derived from wire transfers received from Fairfax. Beside the above accounts, Nnamani was also said to have opened 11 other accounts on February 20, 2007 at the Orlando main branch of the bank. They are account numbers 7966914604 opened with $25; 7966914612; 7966914620; 7966914369; 7966914647; 796614655; 7966914663; 7966914671; 7966914728; and 7966914752 opened with $1. The department said further, “There are 13 wire transfers totalling $606, 672.85 being held by Regions Bank DBA AmSouthBank.” It added that the wire transfers were from “various companies in Nigeria.” The governor is one of the newly-elected senators on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. |
