Perhaps it's only because a lot of people still see Messi as a playmaker.

Take a look at how CR7 plays. He hardly beats anybody with his skills but still scores up to 50 goals every year. That alone should make him the better goal scorer. I'll take Messi over CR7 any day though

CR7 may not be the most talented player but he is certainly the best goal scorer available
