Secondly, my question was in general terms regarding the phrase I put in quote, and not specific to this particular job the OP's wife got.

There are "jobs" and there are "jobs". If one lands a job in a leading IOC or Telco that pays a net of 1m every month, would you disregard it because you don't want to "work under somebody"?

Let's us be careful in our castigation of paid employment or "working under somebody". We must not all be entrepreneurs. Paid employment is one of the fastest way to wealth accumulation if one lands a mega-paying job and is financially enlightened. Also, even as an entrepreneur, won't you employ people to work for you? If everybody then harbours this same mindset of not wanting to work under somebody, who will the entrepreneurs employ?
