Nollywood producer Bimbo Adebayo has revealed in a recent interview that financial limitation has remain a stumbling block affecting the capacity of filmmakers in Nigeria. 

In her conversation on Loke Loke, a popular radio show on Yes FM Ibadan, on Thursday, she said that it is not an easy task for individuals to raise money for producing high-quality projects.

“Personally, I do not have a sponsor, nor do I have an executive producer anywhere. Yet I love this profession with passion. So, I finance my projects with my business profit,” Bimbo disclosed.

She went further to establish the fact that, after production, filmmakers may not even realize profit from previous projects.

However, she maintains that filmmakers have continued to educate, entertain, and inform society through a series of productions. Adding that positive feedback from the fans is one of the factors that keeps her going.

Popular Nigerian actress and seasoned film producer, Bimbo Adebayo has returned to the industry spotlight with three monumental projects set to
redefine the course of her film career.

Irete Alaje, a movie project from the stable of award-winning actress Habibat Jinad is currently sparking conversations across homes and social media platforms. Particularly, the YouTube streaming platform.

They come first and I do not discount their love. We bond as family and it is just easy. Also, when it is time to put in the work, I can’t be found missing in action.”

You can’t imagine, men still make advances at me despite being married. It is funny but this is what I get to handle sometimes. One of the foremost film directors in Nigeria, Abiodun Jimoh has revealed that he and his team are set for a new film project.

The three-time AMVCA nominee and two time winner of the award for film excellence disclosed his plans to take on the new project at a press conference which was held in Lagos on Tuesday.

Before the press conference, Jimoh and his team have only successfully hinted fans and colleagues about the upcoming project through series of social media posts carrying the title, Circa 1500. However, the title of the film has been officially unveiled by director Jimoh as LUWO GBAGIDA, explaining that the story is set to explore an iconic part of Yoruba history that has not been spectacularly told by anyone before.

Speaking at the press meeting on Tuesday, Jimoh said, “Luwo was the first and the last female Ooni of Ife. It may surprise some of us that we have had
a woman king, not an Adele like Oronpoto of Ibadan, but a crowned king with an Oduduwa
crown. We have had someone like that in history and we are not even singing the history, we
never heard about it in school, it was never a topic in African or Nigerian history, we never built
any hostel named after her the way we did MOREMI, MADAM TINUBU and the rest, why? The
reason is what we are treating in this story, and I wouldn’t like to reveal much for now.”

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has entered a remarkable partnership with the Afrika Youth Movement (AYM) to push the awareness of Migration and Covid-19 in West and Central Africa.

It is no longer a news that the Covid-19 which emerged into the world last year and rose to its peak in early 2020 has left many people across the globe, adhering to the rules of staying safe so as to prevent the spread and contact of this novel virus.

UNESCO in collaboration with AYM has created an awareness campaign on Migration and Covid 19. According to available information, this project centres on the discrimination of migrant by the citizens during this pandemic period, leading to false accusation of the spread of the virus by the migrants.

In addition, the campaign is creating an awareness on staying safe and how to act in accordance to the rules laid down by health organisations, thereby trusting valid information from reliable sources.

UNESCO and Afrika Youth Movement came up with the idea of creating a master piece of 10 messages which was translated into different african languages from eight African countries ; Nigeria, Mali, Ghana, ivory coast, Niger, Senegal and also recorded in audio format.

The Governorship election — which is first of its kind and has produced Mrs AdeyKosh as the suitable candidate for the position with support from other Nollywood actors in the diaspora, will see her leading the affairs of the TAMPAN USA Zone 2 for a stipulated period of time.

Last Friday, Bernard who is also addressed by the sobriquet, Naija Shakespeare paid a courtesy visit to Prince Yemisi Shyllon, Nigeria’s largest private art collector. During the visit, he presented a thread art of the Abeokuta-born prince to him. The art works in Yemisi’s collection are dated from as early as the 9th century and as late as the 21st century. Acknowledging the portrait presented to him in a post shared via Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Art Foundation (OYSAF) group page, he said, “Today’s presentation of an artwork to me at home, of my portrait done in thread, by a University of Ibadan artist/ lecturer fan of mine. He first posted the artwork and his photograph on Instagram, seeking to meet me and was thereafter directed to me by a YSMA@PAU member of Council.”

Speaking about the process on Sunday, Toluwalope said, “It was a very interesting one although it was a long process. This is because it is my first time of doing a portrait to look exactly like the person using stones. I have done it with stencil but this is my first time using stones. It is time consuming, requires patience and in fact, the brain has to be super active because this time around, you are not just painting on a flat surface, you are painting on stones. Deciding the layers of colors and arrangement of stones to arrive at the desired effect; these are things we have to consider. However, it was an interesting experience overall.”



Toluwalope includes that when she got tired at some point, she was motivated by the vision she had for the ‘Stonism Movement’ and her belief that, this would influence the face of art in Nigeria and beyond in the near future.

Toluwalope Ajayi is the pioneering figure of the Stonism Art Movement — an experimental art movement which defines the range an artist could cover painting with stones. Many of her works are inspired by the happenings in her environment, the Nigerian society and the world at large. With her art, she aims to encourage others young artists to explore, maximize their potentials and make a difference in the world of art.

Ogini Bernard is a Pidgin Playwright, a visual artist, and an actor. He is the first Nigerian Playwright to translate Shakespeare's works to pidgin. And also the only Playwright with the highest number of Literature in Nigerian Pidgin language.

Choosing thread as one of his art media, most of his works are centred on political and socio-economic issues in Nigeria and the world at large. With these, he has carved a niche for himself and is fast rising to the peak of his career.

His passion has been voracious in all ramifications both in his art works and in his career as a playwright. He has collaborated with several international bodies on projects, Institut Français de Recherche en Afrique (French: French Institute of Research (IFRA), Initiative for Information Arts and Culture Development in Nigeria (IACD) to mention a few. Although he hasn't participated in any art exhibition yet, he has worked and collaborated with several artist in Nigeria.


He studied and holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Theatre arts at the University of Ibadan. His art brand, which he named Ben Silk Art aims to inspire young artist to be creative through their works and to take that bold step in making a difference in the art industry.

With a stream of talents storming the industry yearly, it has become a complicated task for an audience to monitor the presence of actors these days. Thus, it is he/she that engage their audience strategically and continuously that it vibe with in this technology age. When an actor is not even active on social media, fans find it difficult to peek into their daily lives and discover what their favorites are up to when they are not on screen or location.
This is the case of Iyabo Oko, Nollywood Mama who is popular for her 'sharp' mouth, wittiness and heavily endowed backside who has been the character of several reports in recent time. She is missing in action and her indefinite absence from the screen has raised numerous questions among critics and film audience. Of many questions raised, the biggest question at the moment is that, Where is Iyabo Oko? The last time she left a footprint on social media, Instagram particularly, was 14th of February, 2020.
Unlike some of her colleagues in the industry such as Madam Saje, Oga Bello, Iya Ereko, Mr Latin and a host of others, her social media page drives little engagement and even if one decides to sleep on her '1,801 followers' Instagram page all day, there is nothing new to discover except the actress debunking some rumors tailored round her health on September 21st, 2017. Whether she had health issues or not, the comment-section of her 13 Instagram posts are filled dominantly with 'Get Well Soon' messages by her fans.

So, what really happened to Iyabo Oko? Are the heath stories truly rumor? Where is Iyabo Oko?
First of all, Iyabo Oko is currently in Nigeria with some of her family members. In 2018, a reputable media platform published that the actress, Kudirat Odukanmi Oluyemi popularly known as Iyabo Oko had suffered from a medical condition in 2016. Consequently, she was flown to abroad by her eldest son for immediate treatment and on return, the robust and well endowed actress had evidently shed weight. Returning to Nigeria, Kudirat revealed in an interview that doctors advised that she reduce stress-inducing tasks. Further, the actress included that she may be taking an indefinite break from acting in order to recuperate quickly without little or no interfering factor. Iyabo Oko was first diagnosed in Nigeria at a hospital called 68, Army Barrack at the Yaba area of Lagos State.
Born on 15th November 1960 in Iwo Local Government Area, Osun State, South Western Part of Nigeria, Iyabo Oko started acting about two decades ago alongside Lere Paimo and other veterans of the theatre. Although her parents were reluctant at first when she joined Eda Onileola Troupe, she triumphed and successfully carved a niche for herself in the theatre industry. After joining Oga Bello Theatre Group, she starred in Adebayo Salami’s Oko, where she got the name Iyabo Oko. Aside Iyabo Oko, she is also known as Apoti Aje and Sisi Mama. Some of the movies she starred in along her career line include Idunnu Okan, Mayowa, Adesoro, Okobo Dimeji and more.
