Hi Guys, Here is my travel experience... It was pretty normal. I flew United, Lagos-Houston-Toronto-Halifax. It was pretty okay, nothing spectacular. They mice milk -_-. But the flights were pretty smooth except that my Houston-Toronto flight got delayed for an hour which affected my other flight to Halifax.
Immigration: Officer: Hi, How long are you staying for? Me: 2yrs, I'm here for school Officer: do you have any foodstuff in your baggage? Me: yes, I have garri and beans Officer: how much do you have with you? Me: $* Officer: go this way and then that way to for inspection. POE experience: Nothing much happened here, the conversation went thus: Officer: hello there Me: hi Officer: *typing and staring at his monitor* so you're going to MSVU? Me: yes Officer: *after 2 mins* here's your study permit, this let's you work off-campus. Make sure your get your SIN whenever you're free.
After that, I went for inspection and had to fill a form where I had to declare money. Formed convo with him so there was no actual inspection
**they never searched my luggages
Highlight of the trip: Running to the gate of my last flight after checking in again while they kept announcing my name for the whole world to hear. (I was the last person to get on the plane, this was 10mins to take-off) quite dramatic
Halifax is great, everyone has been smiling since I got here, it's so weird. @ettti and other Halifax people, get in here quick Goodnight NLders |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by TheBae: 1:40pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
Her cgpa will be about 3.2/4 Canadian standard which meets the qualification of a B so I'm very positive she'll get admission in other schools with a good SOP like you said berexio1: To me those 2 courses are thesame..managerial is leadership. Atleast that's how I view it. Your CGPA form naija is 3.6/5? Have u tried evaluating it to Canadian standard? It could be close to 4 if not 4.Plus u cud look at other schools that offer the course, write a good SOP and get an offer.Concerning personal assets, did u submit ur SOA, and property the last time? How much was in ur SOA if u submitted. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by TheBae: 1:38pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
What do you mean by 3.6 as against 4.0 required by MUN? 3.6 is a B so you are qualified to apply for masters in pretty much any school of your choice. Or am I misunderstanding you? Graphical: Berex01, thanks once again, so how do you think I should handle this now. From my own point of view though both courses are Educational, but a course in leadership should give me an edge in getting a job when I return home. Also courses in educational leadership is not readily available in most Nigerian universities at Masters level. Can't I decide to go for Masters in two courses? Another thing is that my GPA then was 3.6 against the 4.0 required by Memorial university for PhD. I have home tie of a husband and Two children, landed property etc. Even if I might eventually decide to go for PhD, make I get good result for Masters now |

You're welcome. @thesoj pretty much explained it all in detail. So think about it and try to work on a very good SOP that will counter every reason. Goodluck tariy: @TheBae and thesoj thank you so much really do appreciate..... |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by TheBae: 6:16pm On Sep 04, 2015 |
Then I think you should write a strong SOP to address these issues. As for land receipt, try to get a survey or deed of assignment if possible.. Maybe @thesoj can help you our here tariy: Yea I have Never overstayed in all countries I visit and also included my business certificate, yearly tax payment with the Tax Clearance Card and receipt of 2 landed property purchased too...(Countries are Holland,France,Italy,Austria, Turkey,Malaysia,Dubai,South Africa,India n Kenya.... Abeg which one is terrorist country ooooo |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by TheBae: 4:06pm On Sep 04, 2015 |
Yes you can apply now as long as the circumstances have changed abit. In your last app, did you submit your CAC documents and your SOA? Any landed properties? What's the longest time you've spent visiting outside the country? Travel history isn't a big deal as long as you're not a regualr visitor of terrorist countries and you've never overstayed. So if you can show your personal assets and source of income, you'll be fine. tariy: @TheBAE thank you you for the response can I apply now cos I was refused visiting visa in March when I applied on the basis of the following. Refused March 19th 2015 1) Travel History 2)Employment 3)Current asst and Financial Status You have not truthfully answered the questions satisfactorily........ I have a good travel history, run a boutique of mine please what do I do now cos I intend reapplying now cos I travelled immediately after the refusal in March. |

I applied for student visa but I applied for visiting visa for some of my family members so visiting me won't be complicated for them. I didnt really submit much cos it was in reference to my application. Just updated SOAs and letter of accompaniment. Applied via paper, that's what I would recommend tariy: @TheBAE did you apply for visiting visa and please what are the list of documents submitted. Also would you advice paper or online route for submission.... Thanks |

I'm not sure what you want people to say. Your agent gave you a list of documents to submit, if you're not clear about it, ask your agent. "If applicable" means "if it applies to you" so simply leave out documents that do not apply to you. IMO, all she listed apply to you except post-secondary transcript and certificate if you want to leave your HND/OND out of it bleesedme: can someone pls say something? |

How can attaching your flight itinerary back-fire, if they're going to give the visa, they will. Attaching that doesn't affect the outcome, it only affects the speed if they get to see it. I've done this for 2 applications in the past and they came out 3 days after. Booking a flight before visa isn't a crime, people have done it and still do it and so it can't be a basis for denial. Simply my opinion anyway. Onyeoma3: Whether paid or not paid, it's not advisable as it might back fire.... There are some other reasons that can hold water in a compassionate mail without any risk of backfiring, flight itinerary is not one...
At this point, he has to be very careful and play safe. We all know CIC deny applicants at the slightest opportunity these days. @bolded, and he said he has bought his ticket.... So I guess my earlier was on track and not off point as your reply above made it sound. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by TheBae: 12:03pm On Sep 03, 2015 |
They advise againdt it but it isn't a crime + having a flight itinerary doesn't mean you've paid for it. It's just to show that plans are already kicking off. There's nothing wrong with that, that's why it's a compassionate plea not a letter claiming entitlement Onyeoma3: Even if he wishes to send a compassionate letter to CIC, I would advise he leaves out the flight itinerary, cos it might backfire.... They advise against paying for flight till you get your TRV...
