I'm sure they can help. I opened mine with a temporary driver's license and voter's card with a blurry picture (my face was blacked out). They used both cos I didn't have any other means of ID with me. They can compromise. HighwayTech: OGA YEMMY: I need ur help sir, how can I go about it, I don't have a permanent National ID Card(I only have the temporary national id card given to me since last yr and banks do not accept it), don't have voters card, no driving license, no Intl passport,.....just company staff I'd card.
but I personally know some people working at the stanbic bank branch closest to me, is there anyway these people could be of help, e.g since they already have accounts over 6 months with their bank, can they stand as an identity for me like they do in some banks.
is there anyway I can go about opening the bank account? |

Sure, you can still take a small box as hand luggage with your laptop bag if you want. Or a backpack kennykentipsy: am using a laptop bag as hand luggage is that OK? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:00am On Aug 09, 2015 |
Yes there are size restrictions, different airlines have different restrictions especially for hand luggages. Normal luggages hardly ever exceed the maximums anyway so don't worry about that. You can check http://wikitravel.org/en/Airline_baggage to know if your airline has such restrictions kennykentipsy: apart from the weight of the luggage is there a maximum size for luggage length? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:56am On Aug 09, 2015 |
Lol it won't be accurate unless you use a luggage/travel scale chrisviral: Why not drop the box on the scale instead of carrying it on your chest and climbing, Lol |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:54am On Aug 09, 2015 |
Ahhh it's not the same oh. You have to separate them. chrisviral: Air France allowed 2 bags of 23kG each, what if I'm carrying one around 39kg (23+23) shey na same thing?? |

you can lift your luggage up to your chest? You must be a strong man. Lol when are you leaving? Gu2015: u climb on a body weight scale alone, note ur weight then u climb on the scale again with the box on ur chest, then u minus ur oringal weight from ur weight with the box.the figure who get is the weight of d box.not too perfect but......it usually not less dan 1kg wit airport scale....hope dis helps |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:00am On Aug 09, 2015 |
There are little luggage scales. Ask any frequent traveller around you for one. Trust me you don't want to be looking for what to take out of your box at the airport if it's overweight. If the limit is 23kg, you can leave it at about 24kg some people even get away with 25kg toboy: good midnight! Practically how do you weigh your luggage? I was thinking of borrowing this weighing maching poultry feed sellers us. Please is/are there any better or more accurate option(s)? |

Hian! Send whatever he has na, if he has all, send all. If he has only 1, send it. What's the confusion here? If he doesn't have a birth certificate, he should get an affidavit. He shouldn't waste time with this Chem101: Good evening house, pls a friend of mine is having a problem with a letter, it was written in the letter that he should send the following documents. Wace, voter's card, driver's license (if applicable), birth certificate. The problem now is "if applicable" we don't know if it is meant for only driver's license or the three i.e waec, voter's card and driver's license. Great! So I guess the reason for the denial for second application was solely insufficient funds? Your application is a motivation to other re-firers. It would help if you could give details of the reasons for denial in your first and second applications so people can learn from yours. Cheers

|

Read the last 2 pages. @thesoj and @fhemmmy's posts. It contains processed meat and it is not allowed. America and Canada share custom/border rules. Some people break the rules and get away with it. Others aren't so lucky. It's not rocket science, just Google it. tnuola: I've not heard/read of anyone's gala being trashed on here sha, just amefrica's n that's cuz it was expired.
Even if they're against beef/pork, isn't gala like processed and packaged already? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:09am On Aug 08, 2015 |
It is against the rules. I'm not saying they can't take it but what if CBSA decides to bother them, they have to be prepared to have it all thrown in the trash or even get fined depending on how much contraband food that they have in the luggage. Not everyone's luggage is checked thoroughly by the customs, it's a random selection. Some are lucky to escape with it, some aren't. Even people here said all their Gala was thrown in the trash. Some people even get to smuggle milk in. The rules are the rules, you and your PR friend may not be so lucky next time. Or if you need more proof, you can declare your gala on your next trip and watch them throw it in the trash . I rest my case IyaEjima: Well, I didn't have to hide it. So it's not like I smuggled it in.. Besides I've a friend who's a PR holder and whenever she goes to naija she buys cartons of gala & loads them in a bag for her kids and CBSA has never questioned her for a day. |

Let me just drop this here http://www.inspection.gc.ca/food/information-for-consumers/travellers/what-can-i-bring-into-canada-/eng/1389648337546/1389648516990#a2 You travel with contraband items at your own risk. People may have successfully smuggled milk or gala or even suya in but that doesn't mean you'll be that lucky too. People may end up paying up to $10,000 in fines and penalties (I don't mean to scare you, watch BorderForce if you doubt) and they'll still throw it all in the garbage or if you're lucky enough, you may not get fined. Please make Border Force and Google your friends so you can keep yourself abreast of the rules and regulations. There are things we can get away with like not declaring all foods even though we're supposed to but to avoid unnecessary wahala and delay at the point of entry, try not to carry any meat or milk or if you must, conceal them properly and be ready for the worst. They're not too harsh on first-time offenders though but please do not break the rules, it's not worth it. If you have to fry meat to eat on the plane, finish it or trash it before you get off the plane. Cheers |

Your post above is introducing EE to Intl students. It has been in effect since January. It's nothing to worry about. There are multiple programs through which one can apply for PR. As for what Hayq said, I believe CIC communicates these things through their website long before the new rules even start. Eg "as from June 2014...." so if there has been any drastic change, I'm sure it'd be on the CIC website. I don't think there's any cause for alarm toluine56: See my post above. My aunt just came bck home frm dere nd was gisting me stuffs like that. I refused to believe nd had to surf the web. Nd again, i neva saw anything like that here on this thread. |

Lol I'm not taking Gala, I'm just trying to put the information out there so that the people that are promising Gala know that it is not allowed and they have to be smart or pray if they are going to take it anyway so they don't just waste their money thesoj: Yeah I have to agree with @Fhemmmy. My mom once took lots of gala to the US and it was all thrown right into the trash at the airport. A sad day it was . Canada and US have similar rules when it comes to what they allow at the airport. But it is true that you can sometimes get away with it with a lackadaisical customs officer or if you conceal it which I generally don't recommend especially as a first time traveler to said country. But you can try your luck sha and if they randomly search your bag and find it you could feign ignorance lol. |
