Well, you would agree that that is one of the demerits of online route. As convenient as it is for genuine applicants, people who feel the need to forge documents believe it's safer going through online route because paper route is likely to fvck them up so easily. Now if they decide to take only photocopies for paper route, the confidence and pride that genuine paper routers take in submitting obviously authentic documents will be gone. We all know that Nigerians will take full advantage of this photocopy thing and go aforging and they know this too. I believe it will make them way stricter than they already are. And given the fact that they are denying people for no reason, this is a more "reasonable reason" to deny more people. They can just say that they're not sure of the authenticity of the document or that they have not been able to verify it (even if this is a lie) and there's really nothing anyone will be able to do about it. But then the God factor is there so, it's all good. This is not to discourage anyone applying after the 15th but to appeal to anyone who plans to forge documents not to spoil things for other applicants because CIC will catch you Joe980: Chai Chai, there is Goduu ooo! Don't go there please...what's the difference between this approach and online application? As long as they don't lay hands on original documents submitted via online route then your thought ain't loyal . They have solid ways of document verification. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:13pm On Aug 06, 2015 |
In other news, from the 15th of August, CIC will no longer accept original documents for paper route because they want too keep whatever applicants submit. They want photocopies and will no longer be returning documents. (this info is from a friend who went to submit his application at Vfs today) This sounds like an excuse to deny people based on authenticity of their documents. These people ain't loyal |

Like Fhemmy said, you dontt need to bother yourself with something so flimsy. Some Canadian employers even prefer college degrees because they believe they give more hands-on experience. You have nothing to worry about, just do your best and leave the rest Godymn: I understand where your coming from Don Fhemmmy,
But here is what is on my head, before one can be called for any job interview, your CV will go a long way. So, when they see you have a degree from a College, wont they be less interested in you CV as per Canada Employers? . I can defend my qualification anytime but you know Nigerian Employer, they might not want to give you an opportunity to call one for an interview. So, I just want to confirm if its the same with Canada Employers generally.

Only if English is not your first language so it doesn't apply to Nigerians in most cases. If they ask, tell them that your Bachelors degree was taught in English. You can get a letter from your university if they keep asking. You can also scan your WAEC/NECO certificate or get a scratch card so that the can see that you had at least a C6 in English but they most likely will not ask. Godymn: Ok, thanks for the response.
But on their website, it stated that we need to prove the English proficiency. So, how did you go about scaling through that bridge when they ask?

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:58pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
Yeah that'll be better for you. People don't really use Eco and UBA for Intl transactions. I always move my funds from Eco to GTB but now, Diamond/Stanbic is the way forward. It's good to still have some funds in your other accounts sha cos of the spending limits on each account. + I've been in a situation where one card didn't work with POS cos of the bank network in Nigeria at that particular time. So you can split your money and just have Internet banking to be able to move funds around whenever you like deedee0: Yh..I got some info when I searched, but there's no info about UBA and Ecobank. It seems I will eventually take your advice and open an acct with Diamond. I just want to know if UBA and Eco can be useful |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:09am On Aug 05, 2015 |
Actually there's a thread where you can see more details on banks and their rates. Stanbic and Diamond have had the best rates for months but right now, Standard Chartered and Diamond have the best rates as of today. I'll advise you open one of those because they're quite consistent. Because if you calculate it, you'll be losing money unnecessarily deedee0: I don't think its derailing the thread oo, as upkeep is inportant. I don't want to open a new bank account. I use Ecobank and UBA. Ecobank recently started selling PTA. As for ATM charges, the customer service rep I just spoke to obviously doesn't have a clue; she actually said there are no ATM withdrawal charges outside Nigeria. I asked another rep, he said there are charges, he doesn't know the exact charge. I will go to another branch. Any info on Ecobank and UBA will be appreciated |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:24am On Aug 05, 2015 |
I'm going to stick to Diamond and Stanbic though. Gtb will only be if those 2 have issues cos their rates are too unfriendly. Unfortunately Stanbic USD went up to N207 just yesterday after being on N199 for a long time Enough of the derailing sha. Thanks for your concern GboyegaD: I don't think you need bother yourself about that though. |

Lol I'm so surprised that you guys find it strange. Everyone (including myself) I know gets charged 1k by GTB for withdrawing from an ATM in the UK but anyway, we know GT is hella shady! I'm going to be with my currency converter/calculator all day errday no matter the location. GboyegaD: I have only used my GTBANK card in the U.S. and Canada. Perhaps, the N1k is inclusive of the ATM acquiring fees. You could check with the bank to be sure that your account isn't one of the specialized account type. |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:13pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
Do they charge you N420 for atm withdrawal in the UK because we're many that they charge 1k. I don't understand why Gtb should charge some higher than others. GboyegaD: Wow! Please, try to ensure they correct the anomaly before you leave. They charge me N420 for each ATM transaction and nothing for POS. When I transfer to other Nigerian banks, I get charged N105.25 inclusive of tax and VAT. |

I'm not sure you got the right information, that can't be from the site (I stand to be corrected). This is what I just found. It also shows the payment plans. I hope it helps. Mind you, the tuition varies depending on the course you're going for which is why your question should be more detailed and directed at the school via email or telephone. Only they can give you accurate figures for your course. Please try to do more research next time. Questions like that are usually ignored on the forum. Cheers https://www.mun.ca/become/graduate/fees_funding/obiaguna: Hello, there's no way I wouldn't have gone to the site. Thing is this schools can put something there and actually mean another when its time to pay. So I wanted to hear from Nigerians that currently school there. Site says Msc for international students is $10000 but it didn't state if it was for one year or the two years. I just needed to hear from guys there without having to email the school. U get? |

You just have to wait for another update. Are you saying that it has been "waiting for verification" since June 13? What school did you attend? Don't let the student/academic affairs office rest. Did a staff from your school fill the form that WES asked to be sent with your transcript? Is your school on the list of WES' verified unis? (if not, they might still recognise your uni, it just might take some time) Go ahead with your admission process and email the school telling them that WES is delaying. My WES evaluation took almost 6 weeks and the result got to the school a month after admission deadline. Just keep in touch with them. Don't worry too much burrytee: Hello house, can someone who has done evaluation wt WES Ca jst please feed me with a respond.having sent all my details, payment, transcript document for evaluation which were confirmed received. Am awaiting the evaluation report to be under three 3weeks from june 13.checking my status I could see" waiting for verification from institution" .I have been to my institution yet they claim no mail were sent from WES Ca.pls is it possible for me to track the exact date WES mailed my nigeria institution.thank you |
