collynzo2: They have been rewarded as a team by the President, so? When the super eagles won the AFCON, I didn't see anyone crying because Delta State government rewarded Keshi and Echiejile specially. That doesn't make Okorocha right. It is very wrong to justify foolishness with foolishness. They played as a team, they should equally be rewarded as a team. Fashola rewarded the victorious AFCON team even though non of them is from Lagos state. How can you foster unity in the country when our so called leaders never see us all as one? A team of 22 represented us in a competition, the old man saw just four to reward cos they are from his state? He would have done better keeping his money to himself. |
Sports › Keshi Clarifies Ike Uche's Super Eagles Exclusion by Theben(op): 11:18am On Nov 13, 2013 |
Nigeria and Villarreal striker Ike Uche Villareal striker Ike Uche has been conspicuous by his absence from the Super Eagles lately despite scoring many goals for the La Liga side. Nigeria Coach, Stephen Keshi in an exclusive chat with supersport.com, revealed why.
“Ike Uche is one of the smartest finishers I have had to work with but his attitude to the team is very wrong. He does not buy into the team ethic of one for all and all for one we have been inculcating into this group of players” This apparently started at the South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
“I spoke to him several times to bide his time while on the subs bench. I gave him examples of how even back in ’94, Amuneke had to wait till the final for an appearance” Keshi says of Uche’s attitude.
“I understand when a player is frustrated at not starting matches but it is not right for the player to sit on the bench and making remarks about how the coaching and tactics are not right”.
Keshi also seemed to have tactically the chief coach has a few issues too with Uche.
“In our group stage match against Burkina Faso which was our opening game after we went a man down, he did very little to support the team defensively and when put before him during the post-match analyses he will not accept his failing”
Emmanuel Emenike got injured and was not available for the final and Uche started “he clamoured to start matches even with a wrong attitude but when Emenike was not available for the final I started him and expected him to put on a show but he did not.”
“I have a group of young players who have started to think and play like African Champions and I do not want anything or anyone that will disturb that team spirit. Nothing and no one is greater than the team” The “Big Boss” concluded.
It will be interesting to see if Uche will work his way back to reckoning ahead of the Brazil 2014 World Cup if Nigeria makes it.

Sports › Nigeria Football Federation Officially Promote Golden Eaglets To The U20 Level by Theben(op): 12:05pm On Nov 12, 2013 |
The Nigeria Football Federation have announced world champions Golden Eaglets will be promoted to the country’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles.
The NFF have also told MTNFootball.com that they would elevate one of the three coaches of the Golden Eaglets with the team to the U20.
It is most likely head coach Manu Garba will be moved up to tinker the Flying Eagles, while his assistants Nduka Ugbade and Emmanuel Amuneke take charge of the new Golden Eaglets.
NFF chairman technical and development committee, Chris Green, said: “We have plans to graduate these Golden Eaglets to the Flying Eagles. “The coaching crew shall be split, some remain in the U17 and others in the U20. And this is because we want the teams to maintain a playing pattern which is attacking football.”
Green added: “And these players would graduate to the U23s and maybe Super Eagles, while other players coming from the ranks would have learnt the playing culture of the country.”

omar22: He is still playing and he is the captain, Mikel is not even playing, we could as well give it to Barcelona's Alex Song Ofcourse he's playing, so is Muntari, Asemoah, or Boateng. What is so 'African' in the award when the winner is chosen based on his performance outside the continent? |

I want Mikel to win it. Wish Enyeama and Emenike were also nominated along with Mikel and Moses.
Those tipping yaya for this prize should note that Man City is struggling in EPL. Whatever would make yaya win it should have gotten players like Muntari, Prince Boateng and kwedwo Asemoah nomination, cos they're doing well in their respective big clubs.
Let's vote wisely and ensure that this prize is added to the good things recently happening in Nigeria. |

Amosun isn't the reason why ogun state is developing. Ogun state's proximity to the economic hub of Nigeria is a huge advantage. With the way lagos state is becoming saturated, investors have no choice but to move to its closest state. |
