Call it Dogma or whatever, a religion which depends only on what it can see, touch, perceive, smell and hear is science based. That is why people prefer the gospel of mammon these days rather than the gospel of the cross. You can argue from now till tomorrow that yours is not a religion, utter words play!

I often wonder whenever I visit this section and see rubbish against the Catholic Church, come to think of it, this is the same church that more than any church defied the dangers of barbaric customs of many lands, Africa most inclusive and broke their primitive practices, enduring death in ugliest descriptions , persecutions that sometimes defy adequate explanation to the understanding of  most modern Pentecostal's merry go easy understandings. What you criticize today, in totality, was the same weapon they used to survive the evil forests of your fore-fathers and made most of your brethren Catholics long before the arrival of the flashy gospel of Pentecostalism. It was that same Catholic teaching that moved them to forfeit the pleasures of this life and its private jets to face the persecutions and the difficulties that lurked in  most of our barbaric lands. I'm from the North, stories still abound of how priests were shot dead with arrows one after another but kept coming until they had to listen to their messages. There is virtually no place on this earth without Catholics, just thinks of the most hostile of places. This is to say the least!

I've come discover that you just post anything that look anti christianity on this site without actually making findings about your own religion. I hate to engage in this inter-religion argument because it forces one to be disrespectful and subjective but your arrogant ignorance keeps forcing ones hand.

No offense intended please, some years back in school, I observed to a born (not sure of his denomination) that some male and female members of a certain denomination (name withheld to avoid ill feeling and attack) who outwardly profess to be born again co-habit, as per couples and he asked me, 'have you ever heard of grace?' I tried to clarify my stand with my own understanding of grace but realised that i was very much having a minority opinion. As an Orthodox Christian believed to have a scanty Bible Knowledge, I kept quiet, knowing though that its either I'm right or Christianity is experiencing a changing phase and my Orthodox Ideas are no more relevant.

I was reading an incidence that occurred between a Christian and Mahatma Gandhi and what the Christian said and even did because of his thoughts concerning sin and grace and I'm forced to seek your sincere opinions.

Please Nairalanders don't just conclude that all the guy wants is sex and nothing more. Its possible the guy is really pressed and wants to ease the sexual pressure with the seemingly right person. I've seen a wonderful relationship end this way. I'm also in a relationship presently and my girl is opposed to having intimacy before marriage. I guess too that she's afraid of my real intentions even though its crystal clear thats it nothing but marriage. I respect the female dignity so much that I can't force a girl against her will, call it deception, cajoling, tepting, whatever, I can't contemplate any once the whoever is concerned has taken her stand. But, I'm not a virgin, meaning I've tested exactly what it means to have sex, also, the urge come from time to time which I can't totally surpress, you can guess what the implication is and be confident of your answer. That does not mean I should break my relationship, I respect my girl and even more because of her decision, I admire self control, especially in the so called weaker sex.

That haven been said, I implore you not to assume that the sole reason for his wanting sex is just to taste the fruit and give you his back. Just use your intuition. Its very hard to take a hard stand in this issue because men being who they are are not predictable in matters like this and it would hurt so much if your fear is confirmed. My sincere advice for you is to hold on to your convictions, don't give in to his pressures, don't break! But, contrary to some people's advice, don't assume that he would dump you and thus do the dumping before he does. He might later come to realise and value the rare gem God has delivered unto his hands. Just keep trying to make him realise your stand but with better reason than you hitherto gave him, for eg, it is against the ideals of Christianity and most especially, against your convictions, period.

If i'm in your position, there is close to nothing this woman can do to offend me except infidelity! Even she plots to assassinate me I would still forgive her and love her like nothing like that happened. I would learn her weaknesses and strive to protect her from them. There is nothing to be confused about, go back to her, love her like she truely deserve to be love and force her into loving you like never before. You are afraid she might not get enough love from you and might not give enough, well, those are assumptions. Knowing the kind of love she had for you, you might never be able to love another woman wholeheartedly.

Genocide charges brought against Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir by the International Criminal Court (ICC) have been dismissed by Khartoum as a "political" decision by The Hague-based court, but the rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) described it as a "victory for the people of Darfur and the entire humanity".

According to the ICC’s new warrant issued on Monday, President al-Bashir acted with specific intent to destroy Masalit and Zaghawa ethnic groups of Darfur. Prosecutor had presented evidence of government forces contaminating the wells and water pumps of villages inhabited by these groups, who were also subject to forcible transfer "in furtherance of the genocidal policy", the ICC statement read.

"One of the reasonable conclusions that can be drawn is that, the conditions of life inflicted on the Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa groups were calculated to bring about the physical destruction of a part of those ethnic groups.”

But disagreeing with the judgment which held that as president and commander-in-chief, al-Bashir likely "played an essential role in coordinating" a common plan to this end, Sudan’s Information Minister, Kamal Obeid told Suna news agency in Kartoum that the "adding of the genocide accusation confirms that the ICC is a political court.

“Adding of the genocide accusation confirms that the ICC is a political court. The ICC decision is of no concern to us, the Sudanese government. We focus on development," Obeid said in a statement released by Suna.

Albeit, members of the Justice and Equality Movement believe that the ICCs first warrant for genocide was justice and victory not only for Darfurians but for humanity. "It will give hope to the people of Darfur that justice will be made,” JEM spokesman Ahmad Hussein told AFP.

In Monday’s decision, the ICC said there were reasonable grounds to believe that villages and towns "were selected on the basis of their ethnic composition" for attack by Sudanese government forces.

"Towns and villages inhabited by other tribes, as well as rebel locations, were bypassed in order to attack towns and villages known to be inhabited by civilians belonging to the Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa ethnic groups.

"It also appeared likely that acts of rape, torture and forcible displacement were committed against members of the targeted ethnic groups," the court said.

Human rights groups joined JEM in hailing the ICC decision, and urged world powers to work towards al-Bashir’s swift arrest and trial, but also expressed concern the ruling could prompt further retaliation by the Khartoum government against civilians.

LAGOS (Reuters) - A former leader of a Nigerian Islamic sect behind an uprising last year which killed hundreds of people has issued a statement expressing solidarity with al Qaeda and threatening the United States.

Abubakar Shekau, a former deputy leader of the Boko Haram sect who was thought to have been killed by police in last year's fighting, offered condolences for the deaths of al Qaeda commanders in Iraq in the statement on a jihadist website.

"Do not think jihad is over. Rather jihad has just begun. O America, die with your fury," the statement said, according to a translation published by the U.S.-based SITE Intelligence Group.

SITE said the statement was addressed to al Qaeda affiliated groups in Algeria, Somalia and Yemen, as well as Iraq.

Boko Haram is one of a number of militant movements in northern Nigeria which wants sharia (Islamic law) to be imposed more widely in Africa's most populous nation.

In a religion where sheiks ask their followers to strive to become matters in the course of killing another innocent man calls for caution. A sheik in Kashmir asked for this from his followers over the weekend in response to the crisis in Srinagar. Nothing surprises me anymore concerning these people. Not only in Nigeria, the story is the same all over the world. In fact if my brother becomes a Muslim today, I know I've lost him because he can take my life tomorrow without blinking an eyelid.

I'm from Kogi State and to tell you the truth, I've never seen myself as a northerner! Reason; We've never been treated as such by the so called core northerners right from the days of our fathers, thus, some of them claimed Kano and other core northern towns. I grew up in Kogi and I couldn't understand a single hausa word until studies took me to zaria. You would also agree with me that states like kwara and benue have nothing hausa about them. Plateau may have hausa as a common language of communication but the core north has no influence there. The southern kaduna tribes are waking up too! To tell you the bitter truth, the so called northern political prowess that lies 50 percent in the middle belt is tilted now tilted away. public opinion shows that that loyalty of the erstwhile middle belt to the north is gone, believe me.
