Politics / Re: Tinubu Abandoned Us After 2023 Election, APC Women Leaders Lament by TheGift: 10:35am On May 15
It is very funny to me that some of us actually believed that Tinubu had any clear plan and priority for welfare of anyone, beyond grabbing the power and running away with it by any means necessary (to paraphrase him).

All you need to do is look at a Man’s origins and antecedents. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. And even IF it does, it is not going to happen over night.

Now what? What revolutionary thing has Tinubu ever done beyond taking area boys of the streets ( and some say under his wings) and Lagos Tax ( which some say he controls till this very day through Alpha Beta) ?

What else has he achieved exactly beyond being a master at playing Nigeria’s corrupt ridden politics?

I am waiting

He was waving at the crowd when he came to court.. because he knew that the billions he stole (that's the one that they caught him o - the unknown ones are gone) would be enough to hire SANs and bribe the judges heavily.. then the case would drag for like 12 years after which the prosecutors, out of frustration would make a no-case submission. We have seen it happen so repeatedly..

This is not how to fight corruption.

I am an advocate of Death sentence for corrupt individuals, at least on paper to scare and deter some people from stealing Or misappropriating public money..
Or life imprisonment if convicted, or get them to return times 10 what they have stolen..

With the way the Judiciary is helping to paper over corrupt cases like this, we won't make any meaningful progress fa..🤔🤔

Actually, you are right, except that, it is the defendant(s) , not the prosecution, that makes a no case submission .

I share in your passion for your race (the black race).

However, note that before leaving Malawi for Israel, the terms and conditions of their job descriptions were clearly defined before they decided to embark on the journey to Eldorado.

Initially, they obligated themselves to the agreement only for them to unilaterally withdraw their services from their employers having discovered, though belatedly, that there were other more high-paying jobs.

Whose fault is it?

They voluntarily left for Israel and it's therefore not a question of mental or modern day slavery.

Like, they say, quit the kitchen if you can't stand the heat!

If their services were needed in other sectors, the Israeli government would have told them so.

@hotseat

Your point is well taken. I have no strong argument against it.

I do think some of this contracts MAY be unfair though, in the sense that they may have painted a nicer picture than the reality on ground. Cases like this from the middle east abound.

And I also do believe that there is a modern day form of slavery where we export ourselves to become slaves in some other country , in the name of Japa, and running away from challenges in our own country.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Malawians Who Abandoned Israeli Farms Deported by TheGift: 10:51pm On May 08

You're not a slave in Nigeria but you buy a bag of rice for #80k . Dey play. How does the Nigerian govt treat you? Do they take you into consideration when taking decisions? Or you think slavery is only when you serve a master directly? In responding to my comment you quietly avoided telling us how much the least paid worker earns in Israel per month, in Naira.

First of all, going by your analogy, I am not a slave, because.my mentality and my reality is to always afford the bag of rice, since before it was 8k till and even if it goes beyond 80k

Secondly , which country's government takes their citizens into consideration when making decisions. Is it Israel with netanyahus low rating before the war and with a large number of Israelis opposing the war.? Or is Russia with Putin or China's communist party or Divided US.

I did not avoid anything. If you want to talk about.minimum wage we can. But one thing I avoid is comparing apples and oranges, e.g comparing Israel which is not even up to 5% of Nigerians population with Nigeria.

Or comparing hustling in my country where I have an opportunity to aspire and achieve like many have or work in a strange land doing a job where I can't aspire to anything else.

Being free from slavery is not so much about your external environment but about your inner mindset. Its about first emancipating yourself from mental slavery. The kind of slavery that keeps you thinking that the answers to your problems are somewhere out there. Regardless of where you are , It always begins with you, with what's on your inside and what you have at hand.
.
Think about it.

The work visa is tied to a specific employer. This means you’re only allowed to work for the employer specified in your visa application. If you change jobs, you may need to apply for a new visa or modify your existing one to reflect your new employer.

Hope you now understand and hope it has sticked in your brain?

Yes I understand this, and hinted at that in my other comments. Thank you.

One can't blame the Israeli government for taking this step.

Like, they say, agreement is agreement!

The Malawian farm workers were merely trying to reap where they did not sow!

@hotseat

People that aspired to better things for themselves, by getting a legitimate job in a bakery, are reaping where they did not sow

Ok, Continue

I am glad I am not the only one on this thread that can see the modern day slavery in all this.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.

EDIT::

Please note, I am not saying they did not breach their contract. But do we even know how the conditions of service was painted to them ?

There is such a thing as an unfair contract.

The slavery you're in in your own country Nigeria is worse. Did you notice the minimum wage PER HOUR in Israel? $8.60. Now multiply this by 8 for an 8-hour/day work. Then determine the Naira equivalent for a single day 8-hr work in Israel and see it's about #96k! If you work for 30 days what is your pay? Remember this figure is the minimum. Nigeria pays it's workers #30k as minimum wage PER MONTH. Which slavery would you rather have? Israeli or Nigerian?

You can chose to remain a slave in Nigeria or not, some of us have chosen not to be slaves. even though we are in Nigeria.

In some other climes, you do not have a choice.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Malawians Who Abandoned Israeli Farms Deported by TheGift: 10:00pm On May 08
Modern day slavery.

So they are not allowed to aspire beyond a particular status in society?

What is that, if not modern slavery.

It's the same happening in so called saner societies, but they know how to cloak it in more diplomatic niceties and systemic limitations.

Modern day slavery, where the slaves are the ones exporting themselves to be enslaved. Where you are not fit to exist in the country, except you stick to your given status in society.

Modern day slavery!!!

I enjoyed my singlehood until I was ready for marriage. Now I am enjoying my marriage, cos my Wife is truly my partner and friend.

I do not envy my single or married friends who do not have someone they can share thier lives with in an intimate and meaningful way- beyond sex.

God has blessed me with his goodness and a peaceful/ fruitful home.

Why are you trying to pay back someone , just because they don’t want you and have shown you their true colors. You are the one that allowed yourself to be swayed by emotional attachments.

That’s not how a man is meant to be in a relationship, begging desperately for love. A man is meant to be about His business. The woman that values that and supports that is the one

Meanwhile, what you did by calling the o the r guy is the kind of thing a woman scorned and teenage girls would do. You actually called a guy to report a babe. If i were him I would have laughed at you. You are too emotional for this shit, and I see such happening again if you don’t change your ways.

I've been married for 2 years now with a new born baby. the issue now is that anytime we have issues my wife always threatens to leave.
she will arrange and bag and say she's leaving. this has happened more tha 4 times, basically anytime we have issues as a couple.

She will say she's still young and she can't take any nonsense in marriage, Mind u i have never hit her before so this isnt a case of domestic violence, just normal couples issue.

I'm tired of this and i'm thinking about my options right now, I want to tell her to leave but she should drop my child for me. she can't use our marriage as a threat everytime we have issues

First of all, it is not “my child” it is “our child “ .

I am saying that to say, you People should not come and use your own to spoil that of a child that did not ask to be born. Whatever you decide, children should not be used as a weapon and they should have access to both parents in an atmosphere of peace.

Now, as per you wife, pregnancy has been known to affect people in different ways. Read up on post partum, it might help you understand her Better.

don’t tell her to go. But tell her that you are tired, of the threats. She should stop threatening and do what she pleases , IF she pleases.

Covenant university did not appear on the list, yet it is the best. This list makes no meaning.

It is not a list of the best schools, it is a list of the most selected schools. Don’t confuse the 2.

Even if 80% wanted to go to Covenant, less than 20% can afford to or qualify to.

Also, covenant doesn’t have as many faculties and courses as most of these universities that have been around for ever.

If yes, then how could we Blame Adam for doing bad since he did not know the difference between good and bad?

He did not have the knowledge of good and evil. But we can blame Him because He knew not to eat of the tree.
