blaize777: Pls is it safe travelling 36 0r 37 wks am so confused it's a direct flight Honestly even 36 weeks is pushing it. I understand how we need to plan our finances well and plan our maternity leave and all the rest but I also believe one of the primary reasons we undertake this sojourn to another man's land is for healthcare we can't get in our own backyard. The risk of going to Labour is high because of the stressful nature of the trip. More than half a day straight on a flight ain't no joke. Let's try to fix our trips earlier. However people have done it here, if your pregnancy has been smooth sailing so far you can try going few days to 36 weeks, but make sure you walk around often while on the flight, wear those socks that promote blood circulation (can't quite remember the name right now) and stay hydrated. |

Theodora: Hello Everyone,
I would like to thank everyone that responded to my question earlier in Part 3. I would also like to say that my journey to the USA was a breeze. I arrived Apr 1 and despite my obvious belly I was only asked 2 questions
Officer at POE :Why are you visiting the US.
Me: For my vacation
Officer at POE: What do you do?
Me: HR manager at bla bla ......
Officer at POE: ok welcome .Stamps me in for 6months and wishes me good luck. They didn't check my bag or anything..
I went in through Houston.
Thank you . First of all congratulations. I don't mean to sound like a parrot repeating what others have said but not telling the truth isn't really beneficial to you on the long run. You may have met a CBP officer who was busy or otherwise occupied and so he asked just two questions, but here's the thing, the truth must be told for the records. It's now on the records that you came in pregnant ( heavily since you referred to your obvious belly and intending to give birth) but only declared vacation. Not sure that was a wise decision oh. |

I have gone through some of the pages in this thread and the previous one. Please I would appreciate some experienced counsels.
My wife is currently in Dallas to give birth. She is 36 weeks. We couldn't secure PTA before she travelled. Now, we will love to use the form A to pay for her bills, but all the hospitals we've spoken to do not accept wire transfer (form A) for payment. Please I would really appreciate any advise on a Dallas hospital that will do form A. This is especially urgent as she is really advanced at 36 wks Me sef dey find. Please anyone with information should help us. |

oloriesther: Hello great people!! @ Petdaughter favouredgal, ZillyO & damidamsel, I will be in USA for the next four weeks and intend going with my stanbic credit card. Is it possible to withdraw $300 daily from the ATM to limit of credit becos friend said there is a certain amount allocated for withdrawal while the remaining is supposed to be used for POS transaction.kindly confirm if this is true or if you have encountered it. Not sure if the credit card has different limits but I know the debit card has daily limits of 150/Atm and 350/POS or online transactions. The monthly limits are 750/atm and 1750/POS |

I couldnt risk it at POE. at 6pm, my brother who was expecting called if i had checked in. I said i was sorry i had delayed the flight. He was furious and ask me to leave the house immediately. Flight was 9.30. see race. we drove like Shumacher to the airport. Thank God i was quickly attended to cos of my belle. But my heart was still racing... Just 1k to show at the POE.
I can recall @omodadi telling me i will find favour just like @leakytribe yesterday. Lo and behold, POE went thus:

People are sent back because they lie Me: I got the VISA before i was pregnant for vacation purpose so i waited so i could use it for two things IO: I insist you are just here to have a baby. whenever we see you women with bumps we know its to birth. Nothing you say matters. we deport the cos they dont wanna tell the truth. Me: I smiled IO: so how much do you have Me: 1k IO: how do you want to pay. Petdaughter: Go to a Walmart store and request for a money order. They'll ask you for the amount, take $349 (the remaining $1 is to cover the charge). You would then swipe ur card on their POS machine after which you would be issued the money order. It is sort of a blank cheque. You can then pay it into any American account (either yours' or someone you know). It would clear the next day and then you have $350 cash as against just $150 on the atm
Many thanks for the baby greetings! Really appreciate oh! Knowledge truly is power. |

For those that bought PTA from Standard Chartered and Fidelity, do you have to have an account with them?
I am ready to start my quarter 2 PTA hustle and I want to be focused, Stanbic is looking saturated... Try hard while you're in naija to get this PTA oh, what my eyes are seeing ehn! Everyday I have to go out to get cash from the atm just to make sure I meet my monthly withdrawal limit on my naija cards. Stanbic charges N280 for atm withdrawals.which is the best I've heard of so far (try to open an account with them, even if you don't get PTA they are more affordable for transactions here than the others) On the Stanbic card you have a monthly limit of $750 (atm withdrawals) $1750 pos and atm withdrawals. So getting that PTA is priceless. Gtb charged me at N299 to $1 yesterday..never again! |

ajujuju: Emirates is a world class airline. Arguably one of the best 3 right now. Quote me anywhere.
They are especially caring to pregnant women and nursing mothers, always ensuring you remain hydrated and relaxed.
Evn alcohol de flow freely for the strong hearted.
I have always flown them and had the best time. Yes d trip is long but until recently thy had an 8pm flight leavin Nigeria daily. And this meant maximum 1hr connectin time between Dubai and Usa on d goin leg and then they give u dubai connect for any return leg longer than 8hrs.
However now that thy only hav a 2pm flight leavn Naija... dat 7hrs is a long wait o!!! Evn tho d airport is big and full of places n things, am not sure how u'd spend 7hours.
My take: if it meets ur pocket and u cn find smth to do for 7hrs...EMIRATES IS A GUD DEAL. Thy allow carryon of 7kg plus laptop bag and evn a diaper bag for the baby...if u wan carry ur handbag join sef na ur business... GO Emirates!!! Haha!! Emirates is awesome. |

happytbaby: Qatar does one 30kg bag so it's possible.
For flights with stopovers longer than 7hrs Emirates lodges you in an hotel and they feed you. I hear it's quite relaxing. Please call them to confirm. I have done 8 hours stopover with belle before on BA it wasn't so bad but I had company o. Maybe if you like watching movies you can download some on your laptop or tablet and camp close to a rest room to wait. Also ask, Emirates may wanna treat you nicely cos you are a preggie, Yuri may be allowed into business class lounge or something To book tickets I always check options from Kayak.com to ensure I get the shortest layover for emirates. I've never done anything longer than 3 hours on emirates. Once you find the best option they'll redirect you to the Emirates site to book. |

shithapuns: @leaky tribe, saw the 30kg on their website, but I hv dug deeper now, and hv seen 2bags of 23kg each. thanks for the quick response.
did you use Dubai connect...? how was the experience...was it worth it?. pls confirm the carry on baggage policy, can 1 carry a laptop bag + a small briefcase/box?............some airline allow that flexibility, but arik is notorious for insisting on only 1 carry on bag/laptop bag.
hv u flown united?...how wud u compare united and emirates service/inflight entertainment?.............wud hv preffered united since its a direct flight, but its quite pricey! Not really sure what you mean by Dubai connect but no one has ever stopped me for hand luggage. Last time I went with a little box, my son's little box and my hand bag |

2ndly I checked baggage allowance and can see only 30kg for economy seat!.....am assuming this is a single bag of 30kg?,....abi its 2 bags of 30kg each? hv never seen an airline stating 30kg n single bag too
I blv they hv free wifi at the airport lounges in Dubai? I'm not aware of the 30kg thing. I know I always get 2 bags checked in at about 23kg each, my infant gets 1 bag, 23 kg and they check in car seat and stroller for free. Where did you see the 30kg thing? Your ticket will sure your baggage allowance just view the email till the end. |

Petdaughter: Hi Guys, I got a very sad call this morning. My cousin lost her 3 year old son yesterday. The little boy was playing in their compound with other kids, no-one knew when he left the compound and then stepped on a soak-away slab. The slab was not stable and he fell into the soak-away. Everyone gathered and tried to get him out but unfortunately he had swallowed and inhaled the waste. The poor boy died. I feel so sad and unhappy about this. Pls dear moms, try to be alert towards ur toddlers and kids, one split second can make a world of difference. This is the most heart breaking news I've ever heard Cos I have a 3 year old son myself. May God continue to protect us and our little ones from harm. Amen! May God grant him eternal rest and comfort his parents and loved ones. One can never be too careful with toddlers. May God continue to give us strength to take care of the kids he has gifted to us. |

happytbaby: Thanks guys. Love you too right back. I can actually go on and on about health care and education here. Too many bad experiences. God should just grant us the resources and the visas.
My family's history with childbirth is so bad that I planned to deliver in US even before getting married.I dreaded childbirth. I started profiling myself as a tourist immediately I could afford it, went to Dubai, UK, schengen countries before my first US visa application, just to improve my chances, I took it very seriously.
I appreciate the fact that everyone of us on this thread is privileged though, because for each one of us here there are a hundred pregnant Nigerian women that do not have the opportunity we have. Ki Oluwa ma so wa (may God protect us) I totally agree with you.I remember on my honeymoon when I wasn't even thinking about pregnancy for my first child. We flew Qatar airways and had a 19 hours 30 minutes stop over. Before booking we called their customer care and they said they give transit visas to people with layovers longer than 7 hours so we bought with the plan that we would get a hotel in town and sleep for a while before our second leg of the flight. When we arrived Qatar they were truly giving people transit visas so we joined the queue. We got to the front of the queue and they said 'we don't give transit visas to Nigerian passport holders'. The humiliation we felt in that moment ehn, words cannot explain it. If my child never has to face passport or visa humiliation alone, I've given them a priceless gift with which they can have the world at their feet. Not to talk of all the other benefits. |

The Intel for this theft came from those who knew a lot about your travel plans. You may want to expand your search to others and pray that God gives you insight to the real culprits.
Could be family/other workers in your household/ maid's friends who she may have mentioned to that her madam was going to US to born American pikin. hmmmm, I've looked at that angle oh. except it's a family member that set it up, I keep a very closed circle. just me, my husband and our child, no one comes to stay for long visits and even the short visits are few and far between. When I travel it's the day I'm leaving that I inform family members and close friends. the only place I talked about my search for dollars was on this forum which I believe is faceless abi anybody don code me for here? (speak now oh lol). As much as I took care of the girl our gist no dey pass wetin she do that day, errands I sent her on and her plans for her future. I never told her where I was going but she knew i was travelling. (this help thing sef it was the pressure of this pregnancy and taking care of LO that led me to it, I haven't had one since I got married.) so who knew precise plans, doctor in naija, banks where I hustled PTA and Form A and maybe the airline but my ticket was bought online. God help me sha cos to trust anybody go hard now, once I get back na to face my work by myself, no help again. |

nefertitiram: You knw... they did this thing to my brother when we were teenagers, and d worst thing is dat he was set up by someone in the neighbourhood, his mum used to sell corn byz d roadside. l chai! that's basically her story line, she went to the market, one guy met her and another joined him talking about someone that can cure any kind of disease that they know. that she followed cos of chest ache she has had for years. when they met the 'baba' he told her her destiny had been stolen and that's why she can't go beyond being a maid and helper and saying sorry for the rest of her life, and that it would lead to her death in a few weeks.that he told her a few things that had happened to her in the last few weeks long and short he said she needs to bring all her money( hence the N41k on wednesday). but even after giving them they kept calling that for a full cleansing she needs to give them something more that belongs to her boss. So Friday night when my husband took me out for dinner with our LO, she searched based on their directions and found the Dollars and gave them to the guys at 10pm. all the other parts of her story including pouring sand into a mallam's hand to conclude the ritual have been confirmed. My husband believes we should forgive and forget that she's a victim, just send her away and thank God it wasn't worse but my heart is still heavy, I know wetin that money for do for me and I still can't fathom someone falling for the whole trick. |
