osahonmk: A full system collapse occurred yesterday evening at 6.00 pm when the country power generation recorded zero MW power supply which resulted in total blackout, with average power generation crashing to 1, 618 megawatts hour (MWH), down from 2, 904 MWh generated just before the system collapsed dropping generation to zero megawatts.
This has been one of the worse performing week for the power sector as multiple system collapse were recorded this week, information obtained by Energywatchng from System Operators a branch of Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) shows that generation level collapse to 10MW on the Sunday, 15th January. Moreover, another system collapse occurred on Monday, 16th were generation dropped to 108MW, same system collapse occurred on Wednesday when generation dropped to 42MW. However, the daily operational report from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator, an arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), showed that nine electricity generation companies, GENCOs, sent out zero electricity to the grid.
The nine GENCOs are Gbarain, Rivers Independent Power Project, IPP, Trans Amadi, ASCO, and A.E.S. Others are Olorunsogo IPP, Ibom, Gerugu NIPP and Afam IV- V. In 2016, a similar incidence of total systems collapse happened 16 times.
“The huge debts owed for gas, and recent attacks of gas facilities are limiting supply to the power plants. For instance, an oil/gas pipeline facility blew up this week in Ughelli, Delta State and it connects critical Generation Companies (GenCos) like Ughelli, Sapele, Benin GenCos,” the official said.

KaptainAfrika: 1. Okay, I might be wrong about Peter being the first pope. That aside, can you point out to me, where the promise of wealth is used to evangelise to sinners in the bible. Thanks.
2. It is true, that God has given us different talents and inspired approaches, in bringing glory to His name and drawing men away from the kingdom of darkness, to the kingdom of light. But show me anywhere in the bible, where we are suppose to rely on the power of the flesh and the desire of carnal men for materialistic things, instead of the power of the Holy Spirit in drawing men to Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:6)
3. Why did Jesus ask the young, rich ruler to sell all his goods and follow him? Why did Jesus emphasise on seeking first the kingdom of God? (Matt. 6:33) (Mark 10:17-27).
4. I believe that using a limo to evangelise, sends the wrong signal, which is, give your life to Christ and this limo could be yours one day and my friend, that is not the gospel. (Matthew 28:16-20)
5. I might be wrong and maybe that's what God told them to do, we are all in God's army and we want what brings glory to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Wealth is not the problem with the church but the love of wealth. What you love is what you give your time and attention to the most. Getting it is never a burden and that is what the rich young guy typies. He loved his wealth much more than salvation.......I hope you know that none of the disciples were poor according to the standard of their times. ..... Peter ' gave' Christ his boat and got rewarded in turn. Solomaon designed a place of worship with gold......that is attraction....and the Bible says the church through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad. ...zec Poverty is not a proof of holiness but a proof of lack of scriptural knowledge. ....Christ died so we can reign here on the earth as king and as priest.......neither king nor priest reigns in poverty......the same bible told us that he died to obtain for us not himself or heaven but us riches, wealth, honour, glory, knowledge and strength...see revelation 5:10 It will be foolishness to receive all such blessings and hide them because of the opinions of men. Th fact that his voice is heard and listened to beyond his Port Harcourt base is proof that he is seeking the kingdom of God first and God in turn is adding all that men are dying for to his life and men are dying to live like he he is living doing rituals |

KaptainAfrika: Constructive criticism has its place in Christianity, maybe you don't know, but Apostle Paul publicly criticised Peter (whom Jesus declared to be the rock, upon which the church would be built and the first pope!), and Jesus did the same for the Pharisee and Sadducee of His time. I know you won't read this with an open mind and without bias, I am only replying you, for the benefit of those who are reading this thread.
1. Money is needed to do a lot of things, in this current dispensation, yes. I never said Christians, who have money, shouldn't use that money for the promotion of God's kingdom. I am saying, we should not copy the world, in the way and manner we advertise our events. Or do you think it is okay, to have false promises as a means of attracting people to church? Driving a limo, in the mind of the carnal mind, indicates that if i join this church, I too will have a limo - is that what the gospel preaches? the gospel is beautiful in itself, without the gimmicks.
2. When I said we shouldn't copy the world, I never said we shouldn't use mediums of communication such as tv, internet, radio etc. I mean there should be a clear distinction between a Christian advert and a secular advert. DAVIDO uses attractive women to sell his events, should the church not use the only thing that distinguishes us from the world - THE GOSPEL, to promote its events? should a man of God now drive a limo around town, to draw men to church? Preach the gospel on top a wooden box, in the market square and those who will be saved, will be saved by the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. "Wisdom is profitable to direct" sure we use the mediums of communication to effectively evangelise, but we do so while depending solely on the power of the Holy Spirit, to convict men of their sins, without appealing to their carnal desires such as desire to have material wealth at the detriment of their eternal souls. This fallacy of Peter being the first pope should stop. If it is not in the Bible it is falsehood. It is religion. If the gold and silver and all the riches of the earth are of God then I see no reason why the pastor should limit himself to your taste or idea of God and how best to serve him. No one person is called to preach the Bible for it is too complex ....every one ,is called for a specific purpose out of the Bible. If you don't like his style maybe chosen is your type or deeper life. |

pennywys: from your comment I can sense that you are an illiterate. I think I have to correct you, catholic and those churches you are mentioning are not competing with David Ibiyeomie. Roman Catholic is a universal body likewise the Anglican communion. They invest in les privileges and the society at large, unlike your Ibiyeomie. OPM is actually putting back God's offering back to the common men in the society by opening free schools, unlike your pastor and co. whose schools are so expensive that the poor members can't afford to send their children. Catholic and the Anglican Communion are not luring her members, with fraudulent preaching such as, kingdom investments, kingdom offering, pastors offering, multiply your seed, mandatory tithe, rather they preach about the society, what to do for God as in helping the society, how to live in peace and coexistence, They concentrate in their dogmas without condemning others churches and their doctrines like you pastor Ibiyeomie do. He make you to believe that if you are not paying tithe you are rubbing God, as to drive your spirit in bringing a little money you have to the church. Roman Catholic is unique and Christ is the founder. We are not, and never shall we compete with others.
I bet you don't known the worth of Catholic diocese of Port Harcourt, if you eventually do know you won't have the guts to compare.
We have the blessed sacrament, we have the holy Rosary, we have our blessed mother Mary, most of all we have a confidence God.
Am proud to be a catholic! 1. Where in the Bible did Jesus found the Catholic Church 2. What make the rosary holy...your dogma or the Bible 3. Mary or Jesus which is the intercession before the throne of God? 4. Expouse your confidence in God via his word? Waiting NB: there is no Catholic Church any where in the world that is as big as the new headquarters of this mans ministry in Port Harcourt. It is a 90,000 capacity auditorium. melejo: Your article makes sense at least within your level of biblical understanding but don't try to win all argument else you will flop as you're already doing. Back to the subject matter, go back and carefully study the last paragraph you posted. From the biblical perspective, you can't separate the bishop of the church from church administration. The head of the church is Jesus yes but he has apostles on earth. I've never seen or heard of a nation, not even the highly advanced nations we often copy from that has a low that goes as deep as detecting the tenureship of ecclesiastical authority. Do you know how they were appointed? If we believe the Holy Spirit appointment them then He alone determines how and when they leave. Don't bring Islam inside here because they have different modus operandi, if this law was meant to touch their way of doing things, eg changing the headship of the Muslim community from northerner to southerner, it will not work. Can you go to my village and change the headship of Amadioa whose tenure ends upon death? See, we know where the law is targeted at irrespective of who made it and I assure you it will not hold water The law is injurious to the society in the long run.......it is a disincentive to philanthropy as some who run such foundations as head would rather close them than hand them over to some other....it is unscriptural even to the Muslim nation...the sultan is the head of the Muslim community in Nigeria and if we go by the law , he will one day be asked to step down as the head of the supreme council for Islamic affairs |

TonyeBarcanista: By TonyeBarcanista
One thing about this country is that we are usually dishonest, emotional and sentimental with ourselves over issues that has to do with religion and the State. I shall speak on the controversy surrounding the former National Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Eunuch Adeboye, the Federal Reporting Council of Nigeria governing code for not-for-profit organisations, the suspension of the code, and the unfortunate sack of Dr. Jim Obazee.
1. The NGO Governance Code Has Court Legitimization: The code was enacted in 2015 to regulate NGOs in the country, including Church and Mosques. I don't believe it was targeted at any individual, religion or sect.
During its enactment and hearing, a group of Pastors including those from Adeboye's RCCG and other Pentecostal Churches went to federal high court, Lagos to challenge the suit in July, 2015. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, Honourable Justice Buba dismissed the suit and upheld that the plaintiffs had no locus standi to challenge the suit. The ruling thereafter gave the Council the legitimacy to implement the code. http://www.barbaric.com.ng/frcn-enact-governance-codes-ngos/
2. On The Provisions Of The Code I have heard people larment that the code was meant to stifle Christianity and the Church, but on scanning through the provisions of the code, I am yet to see where they get such Idea from.
Firstly, the code does not spare any organisation or sect that is registered as NGO. It does excused Islam/Mosque, neither does it specify a particular sect, religion or church. Even charity organisations are subject to the code as long as they are registered as NGO in Nigeria according to our laws.
Secondly, on the provision of the code, the code simply mandates Chief Executives, organisational heads, founders, General Overseer etc of NGOs to a specified term in office and not to create a sense of "ownership" of their organisations by them. It made it clear that relatives and spouses of organisation heads should not "inherit" the respective organisation under any guise. It allows for accountability to the organisation/members by the heads of the NGOs, as well as mandates financial accountability to the government.
What Is Wrong With The FRCN Good Governance Code For NGOs? Why should a not-for-profit organisation head wish to "own" the organisation by staying in office without term limit? Why should there not be succession plan in Non-governmental organisation, including churches and mosques? Why should an NGO be inherited by spouse and relatives? What is wrong with Churches and Mosques being accountable to their members and donors, as well as to the government, paying taxes where applicable should they indulge in profit making activities? Is the Church the only group affected?
We are in a society where crises usually brew in churches after demise of founders and General Overseers simply because of lack of succession plan. We are in a society where religious bodies hide under the guise of "the Church" to engage in profit making ventures, yet refused to pay tax to the government like every for-profit organisation. We are in a society where NGO heads lavish organisational funds without accountability to anybody, yet these monies were donations, levies, offerings, tithes etc to the organisations for some purpose or the other. What is wrong with accountability to members and donors of organisation? Is this not a global practice? Will the Bill Gate Foundation donate money without asking for accountability?
What is wrong in clerics contributing to pension funds so as to ensure that their pension is protected by law after retirement? Won't this arrangement help junior pastors?
What exactly is wrong with the bill?
Why Redeemed Christian Church And Some Other Pentecostals? Firstly, of all the NGOs that includes foundations, charities and Mosques, only Pastors from RCCG and some other Pentecostal Churches went to court to challenge the code. Is there something they are not telling the public? Fine, they exercised their right to challenge government policy, but judgement has been delivered, is it not appropriate to respect the decision and live with the regulation or approach a higher court to set aside the lower court's ruling? Why should Redeemed Church and some Pentecostal Christians see it as a personal battle?
With due respect to RCCG, the code was meant to apply not only to Pastor Adeboye or RCCG, but also to other religious organisations and their heads including Mosques. Making it appear like a personal war against the Redeemed Church or Christianity is improper and against the teachings of Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 2:13-17.
Christianity, The Church And Civil Authority: 1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 1 Peter 2:14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. 1 Peter 2:17 Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
That was a clear instruction to Christians by Apostle Peter. Christians have no history of resisting civil laws/codes even at the point of death during the time of the Roman rule. That was what distinguished Christians from others.
This Code is in fact aimed at sanitizing the society against abuse by so-called religious leaders and bodies. The Church must be subject to the civil authority of the State as long as it doesn't conflict with the demand of God Almighty and His Christ. This is a fact we must get used to or go to court if unsatisfied.
The Sack Of Dr Obazee Is A Bad Omen The sack of the erstwhile boss of the FRCN may elicit cheers from religious sentimental people, but it only shows that President Buhari is leading Nigeria via sentiment and not principle. Sacking a man for doing his job after obtaining a legal victory is unfortunate and uncalled for. Appointees of government must be allowed to do their jobs without fear or favor to any group, but President Buhari and his minister of trade and investment expected appointees to only do what they ask and not what is to be done. This is unfortunate and a bad omen to leadership. Why should a policy be suspended because of a particular religion/church? Isn't the law meant to be above every individual and group? This is sad!
In conclusion, we must be aware that in sane climes like Europe, USA, UK and South Africa, such institutions (Religious and other NGOs) are well regulated, especially with respect to their finances and management. RCCG and some other churches have their branches over there and they comply with their regulations. Why should they now have problem with ours? Churches, Mosques and other NGOs are not classified under sole-proprietorship, and as such can't be said to belong to any SINGLE individual irrespective of his status or perceived status. Hence, management and finances must be regulated to reflect that.
Finally, irrespective of my Christian faith, it is my belief that sanity must be brought in our society. If Jesus could pay his tax as a male adult (according to the law) and subject himself to civil law, why not his followers?
May God Bless Us All And Bless Nigeria Happy Year 2017 www.nairaland.com/attachments/4720022_code3_jpeg6f5173fd1b894b6ab6561498111a224b Shared on Palmchat You miss the point of argument in the public domain which is that a tenure of office is not ordained by fiat for any body called to ministry ...... Montaque: The NGO(church and mosque inclusive) all registered with CAC, and thus is amenable to government interference, though limited. They are managed by board of trustee and as much as you want to see it as a calling, there is politics in the management. They have gone ahead to forage into social and welfare sector, and they affect people in their duties. They should be amenable to interference aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency.
The traditional leaders you mentioned don't need government to exist. Infact they are not registered or birthed by the CAC, unlike the Board of trustees that get their existence from registration. This issue is what a good organisation will put in place to ensure healthy organisation. Its because of the refusal that resulted into it being law. Welfare and social services have always been part of the work of the church and missions that is why you have mission schools......everything owned by the church or missions apart from the church itslef has and is always treated as a business entity or charity depending on their mission. All the universities by the missions have financial responsibility to the government as well as the hospitals. The church itself have always had an accounting department and if their concern is their finances then the best would have been to target their account and asked for certain guidelines .....Nigeria is not the only nation with religious groups ....Iran has a religious leader that is more powerful than their president ,Ayatollah In all the society of the world in clouding America there is none that asked for time limits for spiritual leaders even America that was undergoing shocking transfiguration under Obama |

OkoYiboz: Oyedepo's wife and Children are the trustees of Living Faith Inc. When he wants to hand over, he can only hand over to a Trustee and your guess is as good as mine. His son pastors the Church in London, his daughter married his P.A. That is how these men have privatized the church. This same Oyedepo reportedly has 4 jets and NO state in Nigeria can boast of 3 jets.
Adeboye bought a Jet from the donations made to him as a Trustee of RCCG and wrote his name on it. FYI, the income of the RCCG in Nigeria is more than the IGR of about 12 states put together. Yet, you go to the government hospitals and see RCCG members broke, penniless and waiting for 'divine' intervention. That explains why Adeboye made his son his personal assistant. If you disagree with me, go to the vacancies section and request for CVs from RCCG members only and see the number of Resumes you'll be bombarded with.
Judgment should start in the house of God cos churches in Nigeria are all about the money. Just to ventilate your ignorance, I advise you get the church constitution known as ....the mandate.....it spells out the qualifications for leadership of the Winners family and for now none of his wards are qualified. The church owns fleets of jet....one for the bishop one for the vice Abioye and mother other.....every acquisition is a replacement for the smaller or older version of the new one. As for cv, even the society or religious group you belong to has broke and penniless members that if you ask for cv ,according to the size of your own group you would be amazed. |

I still believe Nigerian churches should do more of humanity and charity outreach. Most churches are very rich and I mean very rich, I see a lot of similarity between politicians and pastors they amass wealth and they don't really care, honestly in my own opinion churches should not even have money in their account after paying necessary bills paying pastors etc what use is money in a church's account when there are millions of hungry kids, millions of homeless people. How do our pastors feel when they drive luxury cars and see underage kid hawking on the street. I SAW A PICTURE OF A PASTOR IN HIS ROLLS ROYCE AND A KID WITH A TRAY OF BREAD I THINK how christian(Christ like) is that.
Take time and think deep that we have so many churches mosques in nigeria so many pastors preachers and religious people and our country is the way it is and countries like India where majority of the population worship cow or China where Christian populace is not even majority and these people live better than us that should tell up our Christian leaders have failed us. charlesucheh: When they started, they started with songs like, when I dey suffer', 'plantain boy' 'God Don do am for me'! Making us feel they come from humble backgrounds, and when they started hitting it big, the exhibit out compulsive attitudes!!! That's why sometimes, I prefer relating with celebrities that are from rich backgrounds. These ones have seen everything from the scratch and know how to address issues like that when they come! If what Timaya did Is true, then he is a disgrace to all who made it fro the ghetto!!!! A big shame!!! Davido is not any better |

TunezMediaTV: Music star Inetimi Alfred Odon, better known by his stage name Timaya, is currently on the hot seat for assaulting a journalist who requested for an interview with him.
According to a Punch Newspaper correspondent, Timaya was described as one with an undesirable attitude who needed to enroll for anger management classes.
Sunday Scoop recently ran into the controversial entertainer but his attitude left a lot to be desired.
"He insulted our correspondent when he was asked for an interview, and it is apparent that he needs to attend anger-management classes."
Put off by his saucy attitude, one of his aides had to apologise on his behalf.
Some fans also criticized him for denying them selfies at the event... Guess the Bang Bang crooner was just not in the mood ..

Politics › Re: Shareholders Rejoice As Buhari Fires FRC Boss by Themandator: 10:06am On Jan 10, 2017 |
VampireeM: I disagree with Mr Olufemi's comment. Obazee's stance that only Chartered Accountants should be members of the audit committee is a good step that should be commended! Why would shareholders vote/appoint another shareholder who has no idea on what audits is all about be a member of the committee?
What a country! Any business man knows what an audit is and besides, from the pack of shareholders there must be an accountant if not accountants.......they must not be chartered or the auditors should also doubles as the investors |

Igbos: Lol I read the whole epistle and fayose aka 'igweafonja" didn't answer a single question concerning the mismanagement of funds.
It is the usual rant and anti buhari chants. You have to read it again because he in the one I read he said they got over 8 billion and of that amount above 4 billion went to the local government whic is more than half the refund his state got. |

olash007: I laugh when some people that has neva been to ekiti say ekiti people love fayose. Guys what u read and see on the Internet can be deceiving. Any popular rich nuisance can go to the market and cut kpomo too. Ask ursef who are the people u c behind him while cutting the kpomo? This same people will follow Fayemi to the street if he decide to cut kpomo as well. Explain how he was able to defeat a sitting governor in all 16 local government areas of the state |
