Apart from the news channels, the reason why we pay for DSTV is because DSTV is paying the same channels for the right to air them in Nigeria.

My family owned a FTA (free to air) satellite once. Apart from the news channels , we could not get any of the channels DSTV has on that same satellite.

Dstv is not stealing anything at all. They even drop channels when they cannot pay for them (eg crime and investigation network because the owner of the channel suddenly jacked up the price )

Even Premier league....IT airs only on DSTV here because DSTV owns the package for Nigeria...just as Startimes owns the package for the Bundesliga for Nigeria.

Tstv and myTv Africa are not serious at all, and they have poor signal, small breeze like this, it will stop showing, very useless.

symbianDON:
You are on point! The major challenges TSTv have are those of bad technical policies and maybe lack of technical knowledge! You can't be migrating MyTv customers to your platform for two weeks while leaving your existing customers stranded! I use TSTv and I prefer their programme to all others except DSTv. Their subscription rates are very affordable and I love that I only pay for what I want to watch. Also, I find it very very convenient to pay subscriptions myself and at my convenience. TSTv has huge potentials but I doubt the handlers know that.

Simple...they cannot compete with DSTV and startimes.

Let's start with content. What do they have that DSTV and Startimes don't have? (They don't have the Premier league , or any European league...do they? )

Second, how many Nigerians are ready to buy a TSTV subscription when they already have DSTV or Star times ?

Third....streaming is the next thing. People are now watching Netflix and other streaming platforms...and DSTV has a leg in that business.

Topmaike007:
kwese no dey again, even hope no dey for startimes again.. Dstv Don europa from dem with bidding that if you are not strong enough you go back out

She owe you or the guy show evidence when he make that statement?
If i decided to go to twitter/instagram and make a post of how i use to house wizkid, let him record on my own mini studio when he was rejected by 2face to be in school, would that make wizkid to proof that i was lying?
Its easy to lie and get fame and possibly useless endorsement deal with social media fame.

The Mc should move on and learn his lessons which is helping a female friend that is not family to climb is a risk you consider before embarking, your best bet is getting whatever advantage before she finally blow because most of the time they hardly remember and if she get hitched forget she will never come back to show appreciation.. If you think i am lying ask yourself why all this producers and directors demand either monetary or sex from upcoming actresses, beauty queens, video vixens etc na because f matter like this.

HRHQueenPhil:
Hmmmmmmmm....she won't boldy come out to say it's a lie without proofs
Don't understand people with this entitlement mentality, becos u helped her get appointment to your boss or chairman, dat means she shld fvck u or keep calling everyday to give appreciation
It's a privilege from God to be in a position to help someone , so do the deed and move on not turn d person to ur emergency wallet

vickzie:
I don't want to call them frauds but they are cheats, went to their dealer to buy one, they said they are doing upgrade but I shouldn't worry that they'd be back in 2 days, paid #17500, it's almost 10 days, the dish is still occupying space in my room. Why continue selling to customers and lying to them when your service is out.

Greedy opportunist Africans

TB Joshua's Next of Kin, his immediate family, his kinsmen, and extended family made a brutal mistake, and the scavengers pounced in immediately

The moment TB was pronounced dead they needed to drop all sentiments and have a meeting with Head of the Family, Wife and Next of kin, to immediately secure TB Joshuas personal effects, cloths he died wearing and other important stuff

TB Joshua lacked Business / Organisation Leadership skills, and he ran his church like a family gathering and not a serious organisation..

Nobody in the hierarchy of RCCG or Winners would try such, as they all know their position in the organography

.

No, it is because TSTV is not offering what would attract people to them

Do you have a TSTV subscription, for example? What are they offering that is different from DSTV and startimes?

xeju:
You're talking about marketing when they've not started broadcasting anything. The marketers would market empty TV abi. Some of una go dey think like crayfish

osazsky:

armadeo:
For now mtn double data is the bomb for me. I Don drop my swift modem sef at least for now.

williams85:
you have comprehension problem.
The migration is done only on strong receivers of this model....SRT 497S-HEVC decoders only.
Those mytv customers with other type of decoder are not among..
mytv is a broadcasting company and they have shut down. Strong technologies manufactures satellite receiver..
MYTV channels are no more, if the agreement goes through it means strong 497s receiver will be working with tstv channels.
Since you find it difficult to understand , i have to break it down for you..
have a nice day!

I created that thread before and the replies were satisfying.. I'm bringing this up again because DSTV and gotv are miking Nigerians even startimes is frustrating...

williams85:
Do your research very well lol…
Shalom.

Ournolly:
Actually, 4k is common but the content is lacking.
You should be aware that 4k resolution is very expensive to maintain as the data transfer involved is massive.

Take the file size for example
1 hour movie of
HD ready (720p) - about 800mb
Full HD (1080p) - about 1.2gb
Uhd 4k - about 43gb, H.265 encoding may compress it to about 10gb but we all know that H.265 is CPU resource intensive.

Imagine broadcasting in 4k to 10,000 subscribers at the same time, can tstv afford that? Certainly no.
TSTV may have the equipment but cannot afford the resources of successfully broadcasting in 4k.
As rich as Multichoice seems to be I doubt they can afford the resources too.
We all know their HD channels are in HD ready and not full HD.

Ournolly:
I directly quoted austino677 who posted the picture in that reply and certainly not referring MrKodak.
Seems like you are a bit confuse here.

williams85:
Oga mytv is dead and gone! There's no agreement between mytv and tstv..
If there's going to be any one, it's between Strong technology and tstv.

Tzar:
You make it sound as if ACTV & TSTV did consumers a favor by making promises that they cannot deliver on. In saner climes, there would’ve been a class action suit against them. The consumer protection agency would’ve been on their tail & they would have been forced to refund every penny they dubiously collected.
If the amount they charged for decoders was insignificant, they should have given it to their viewers for free. The ONLY reason these kinds of Nigerian companies keep getting away with their fraud is because Nigeria is a jungle without consumer protection.

Ournolly:
Bro he didn't say his TV is not 4k complaint, na you dey add this one here.

Check his next reply he actually said his TV is Samsung q6f 55, as a Samsung smart TV fan that currently uses a new model qled TV I can confirm that his TV has 4k capability.

Tzar:
I strongly believe the same scammers brought ACTV. They sold decoders, dishes & subscription… suddenly they said their satellite disappeared from space!
There is no consumer protection in Nigeria to force these people to deliver on their promises to consumers.
NIGERIA IS A BIG SCAM!

Ournolly:
Yeah, not bad but certainly not 4k resolution.

MrKodak:
Hmmmn! I would have thought like u, only until I decided to install my TSTV.
Truth is, I don't know if they run on 4k cos I don't use a 4k tv but, their channels are in super quality, much more clearer than DSTV. They have more high definition channels than DSTV (I have DSTV as well so no bias here) The only thing they don't have is premium sports like EPL and maybe shows like big Brother. Personally, I keep the DSTV for the rest of my family and TSTV in my room cos the channels I will rather watch are found on TSTV and I am not joking.
