AdaFonju:
A POSITION PAPER PRESENTED TO HIS EXCELLENCY MR. GODWIN N. OBASEKI, GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE BY THE ELDERS AND LEADERS OF THOUGHT FROM THE FIVE IJAW KINGDOMS OF EDO STATE AND THE LEADERSHIP OF THE IJAW NATIONAL CONGRESS, EDO STATE CHAPTER ON FRIDAY, 5 JANUARY, 2018.
We, the elders and leaders from the five IJAW kingdoms of Edo state, namely; Egbema, Olodiama, Furupagha, Okomu, and Gbaran, have come in response to the Governor's gracious invitation for dialogue concerning the crisis generated by the derogatory press statement made by the Edo State Government and the Bini Traditional Council on the coronation of the Pere of Olodiama Kingdom.
Before, we begin, we want to make it bundantly clear that we adopt in their entirety all the publications made by various IJAW groups and the entire IJAW Nation as representing our position on the plight of the Ijaws of Edo State.
Firstly, we would like to thank your EXCELLENCY for the invitation and wish your EXCELLENCY and your Government Happy, peaceful and prosperous 2018.
Secondly, we "appreciate" your Excellency for the statements on the coronation of the Pere of Olodiama Kingdom, because those statements have brought to the limelight the injustice, marginalization and oppression the Ijaws of Edo State have suffered over the years in the hands of successive Government of Edo State and the Bini Monarch.

As a matter of principle, we desire to live and co-exist with our neighbors peacefully based on love and mutual respect for one another.
However, in Edo State we the Ijaws have been balkanized into three (3) Local Government Areas with the intention of making us politically irrelevant as we find ourselves as insignificant minorities in each of the three (3) Local Government Areas namely; Ovia South West, Ovia North East and Ikpoba Okha Local Government Areas into which we have been balkanized.

Beyond that, we have been derogatorily and variously referred to as migrants, settlers, strangers and tenants in our God given ancestral lands.
Attempts are being made to deny and deprived us of our inalienable right to choose and install our traditional rulers in our ancestral lands.Successive Governments acting on the prompting of the Bini Traditional Council have deliberately denied the Ijaw kingdoms in Edo State their right to development. We are therefore not surprised that Barr. Osarodion Ogie the current Secretary to the Edo State Government became the mouth piece of the Bini Traditional Council on the issue of the Coronation of the Pere of Olodiama Kingdom.
OUR POSITION:
The position of the five IJAW kingdoms of Edo State is as follows-:
1. We have been living in our ancestral lands centuries before the amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria in 1914. We are the aborigines of Edo State; we are no slaves to anyone; we not migrants neither are we settlers nor tenants to anybody. WE LIVE ON OUR ANCESTRAL AND GOD GIVEN LAND.
2. We are linguistically, culturally and geographical distinct from the Binis. We have our own traditional rulers to whom we owe allegiance and loyalty. Our communities and kingdoms had no links whatsoever to the Benin Kingdom until recently.

OUR DEMANDS
1. We demand for the Edo State Government recognition of the traditional institutions of the Five IJAW kingdoms of Edo State such that the traditional rulers be recognized and given staff of office.
2. We demand in the interim for the immediate creation of three (3) Community Development Areas respectively as it is in Lagos and Bayelsa States.
3. We demand that these three community Development Areas once created should be made a house of Assembly Constituency in Edo State.
4. We demand for the creation of a separate Local Government Council Area and amalgamation of all the five IJAW kingdoms to be administered by the Local Government Area instead of the present three Local Government Areas into which they have been balkanized. After all, these kingdoms are all contiguous one to another especially by river transportation.
These demands are in line with the Federal Government Constituent Assembly report of 1988-1989, vol 2 page 492, where it was recommended that the Ijaw people in Ovia Local Government Area deserve a Local Government Area based on the criteria of (I) Riverine location (ii) Inaccessibility (iii) Not truly assimilated by the Bini (iv) Denied development ( inland based government) (v) Very rich in natural resources (vi) High Population.
The issue of non assimilation which was identified in the Constituent Assembly report of 1988-1989 is still the same reoccurring factor responsible for the friction between the Ijaws of Edo State and the Binis up till now and the only solution still remains the creation of separate administrative units for the Ijaws of Edo State.
We are Ijaw people and we detest and firmly reject any attempt by the Oba of Benin to appoint and / or impose persons with alien or strange tittles such as Odionwere, Enogie and Okao etcetera, as representatives of the Oba of Benin in our communities.

The Oba of Benin cannot appoint any person to represent his interest and the Bini Traditional institutions in any of the Five IJAW Kingdoms in Edo State.
We must put on record that the Ijaw nation has hierarchy in leadership. Therefore, we are surprised that your Excellency decided to invite your political appointees as representing the Ijaws of Edo State in a matter as serious as this.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ijaw National Congress and IJAW Council of Traditional Rulers, Chiefs and Elders are the highest level of leadership and Youth Council as the youth mouth piece.Be that as it may, we the Ijaws of Edo State are law abiding citizens and will continue to maintain that status.

Long live the Ijaws of Edo State
Long live the Ijaw Nation
Long live Edo State

If you guys did all this why then was the local government headquarters moved back to Ogbe Ijoh which was the only condition for Peace given by the Ijaws. They begged after getting their demand , does that make sense to you? The only time itsekiri made any attempt was actually a defensive one ...never did they attack in an offensive and even the defensive was aided by the army ...Don't make me mention names of people you who claim to to have being doesn't even know.

Was it Gen Togo or Tompolo that begged you People?

You only make me laugh when you claim itsekiri and not the army repelled the attack on the palace ... so the itsekiri youths were the ones in those armoured tanks? Don't even say this nonsense to anyone who lives and witnessed the crisis back in warri ...crisis that made Frinam Nig. Ltd to expose his true identity as an Igbo man with an itsekiri mother ...he equally wrote ...this na igbo man house all over his property which prompted reaction from the igbo community and it was revealed that he is from Onitsha...... his 'Big car'was used as the official car of the late Olu during his inauguration

You just dey online dey yarn dust. You probalay might not be able to locate olu palace if you are dropped off at Effurun round about

wirinet:
You know nothing. You were just in secondary school making all sorts of assumptions. It is very annoying when someone who was too immature to know what actually happened behind the scenes arguing with someone who was directly involved and directly affected by the conflict.

What did the army do for the itsekiris? Did the army stop any village from being burnt and the citizens murdered? Did the army prevent any of the numerous attacks on warri? The Ijaws were attacking warri almost on a daily basis and there is an army barracks at effurun.

The final attack on warri in which the Warri boys were annihilated was a well well planned operation, the army came in after we had stopped the Ijaws from progressing to the palace. The Ijaws got as far as they did because we allowed them, we did not confront all they way from cemetery road.

After the defeat at warri, we went on the offensive, we ransacked many Ijaw villages, so much so that we started seeing Ijaw internally displaced refugees in the news. Before then it was only itsekiris that was always in the news as internally displaced people.

Mister, soldiers did their best for the Itsekiris.

wirinet:
You just do not understand anything and you are just arguing blindly. At least you knew the commanding officer was arrested, even with his "injury". What did that tell you? That the soldiers under the commanding officer was highly negligent or highly compromised. When I tell you that the military were bribed, I did not imply the military high command or the G.O.C, it was the commanding officers and a few officers that needed to be bribed. As a result, the troops would not be deployed effectively or at all.

This was the same case with Boko Haram. Before Boko Haram is able to successfully invade military barracks and formations, the commanding officers and a few officers were usually compromised. The Boko Haram boys were able to overrun well armed and fortified barracks without much resistance.

Military officers getting injured does not mean jack. Many officers are known to inflict injury on themselves to avoid postings to war front or to avoid responsibility for some crimes. You are not more knowledgeable that the superior officer that ordered for the arrest of the injured commanding officer.

So you are now exonerating the military of negligence or complicity in the blatant attack on koko with the excuse of "Truth be told, those guys are good with waters ", you should also exonerate the military in the current onslaught and massacre of villages in the middle belt by Fulani herdsmen with the excuse "Truth be told, those guys are good with the bushes"
I wonder why your are condemning the FG the military for their lackadaisical attitude towards Fulani herdsmen.

Artillery will only destroy people's house and kill civilians.
Which Nigerian Army pushed back Ijaw militants? The Ijaw boys that attacked warri multiple times and at no time were they confronted by the Nigerian Army stationed at effurun. They usually come long after the Ijaw militants leave. It was later on that we learn that the army was bribed to stay away for a few hours for the Ijaw boys to conclude their operations. I was in koko a day before the 2003 senatorial elections and I saw heavily armed soldiers stationed at koko. A day after I left, the Ijaws attacked koko, and burnt down many houses including the local government secretariat, kill many people including old people who could not run into the bush, the strange thing is the army did not fire a single shot. The Ijaws boys came, carried out their atrocities and left in their speed boats.

I and many members of my family were involved in the counter offensive, i know how we were able to acquire weapons, some of our university student helped produced and modified some weapons. We were able to block food and supplies from getting to riverine Ijaw towns and villages on the Benin river. Look I could not reveal more as I would not want to reveal too much as the Ijaws might want to try us again.

This story of attempted burning of the palace came from the palace ...I was providing consolation to my friend having being dislodged and fearful of surprise attack.

Please go and ask your father or uncles the outcome of the 1999 - 2005 Ijaw - itsekiri conflict. It was the Ijaw that begged for peace after the warri annihilation of the Ijaw boys and for the first time the itsekiris went on the offensive.
Mr. I was s student of Urhobo College when the crisis broke out and the core issue was the headquarters of a local government that Gen. Abacha initially announced Ogbe Ijoh as headquarters but was later changed through the influence of his service chiefs, an Itsekiri or in laws to them .... He should be the Naval chief then

The ijaws initially came out with their women to protest the relocation and afterwards their youths vowed that the injustice would not stand. Tompolo his people took up the case under the leadership of one dude ...forgotten his name ....general something ....late now

In the last presidential election, Bayelsa their sole state could not produce up to 500, 000 votes, they are less than 5, 000 ijaws in Edo which can be visibly proved during the September 28th gubernatorial election, they are less than 50, 000 in Ondo States while in Delta State the Urhobos are about 1.5million in population as the most populated tribe in Delta it therefore means the Ijaw are less than 1million, then in River State predominately dominated by Ikwerres I put it to you that they are not up to 100, 000 Ijaws living there, with all this analysis the Ijaw population in Nigeria is between 1-1.5million, propaganda cannot get you people anywhere but facts

Where is the new regulations in the article?

From the day Jonathan government introduced BVN it intentions and capacity was kmown, hence the reason every individual has just one with your finger print attached

Opinionated:
The fight against corruption in Nigeria is becoming more systematic and quite a few bank customers could be caught in it inadvertently.

The recent Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulatory framework for Bank Verification Number (BVN) operations and watchlist for the Nigerian banking industry mandates financial institutions to apply restrictions on accounts and BVNs associated with fraudulent activities.

As a result banks and other financial institutions have been mandated to report such activities to law enforcement agencies. Some banks have started updating their terms and conditions for opening and using accounts with them to reflect these changes and give them legal cover should they need to take action against some customers.

It is also possible to lose access to multiple accounts in different banks based on one of your accounts being frozen or flagged for fraud. The BVN simply links the other accounts to fraud and you may be liable to lose access to them.

While some parts of the regulations are not new, the effect of the new directive is that you could lose access to your account and your money based on the suspicion of fraud, not necessarily with concrete evidence. Therefore you need to be a lot more careful about your banking transactions and how you conduct business to avoid being negatively affected by the new regulations.

Ijaws are saying that they are more in numbers than the itsekiri ethnic group, in Delta state true or false, .... leave the extras and stopping insult them before they unleash another rain of terror on you guys ...I was in warri live when it went down the other time .... I recall how men had to write this house na Ibo man own ....this house na Isoko man own ...abeg no wake dem ...park well

Ok, to set the record straight, the governor was attacked when he came to address the protesters and then soldiers attached to him fired shots. Shots were supposed to be fired in the air but trust Nigeria army. They directed the shots at people.

Meanwhile I witnessed the lynching of a fulani man today.
Soldiers not waste bullets... that is the police ...that was the reason they killed ipob youths in Aba instead of firing into the Air
