Yeah, there's no unrest in Nigeria (before, during and after the elections). Lol. Y'all like to deceive yourself..

Compared to Brazil, we are not so bad. Its just that expectations were not met.

The situation is incredibly distressing, bro. I have faith that someday we will realize the importance of controlling our own resources and take action to do so.

I doubt things will change, unless there is external pressure on these companies to do the right thing. For now, it remains an uphill battle.

It's a shame that Africa's vast resources are often undervalued and underestimated, which is why some individuals or groups (the whites) cannot resist interfering in its affairs.

Sadly, Africa has not fully recognized its potential and is still subject to being overlooked.

The case of the Congo is truly sad. The modern day slavery going on there is bewildering. The Chinese mining firms have a strangle hold on the people. The worst of all is that the corrupt government there is not doing anything about it.

We might think Nigeria is bad, but there are African countries richer than us in terms of natural resources that we are better than.

God bless Nigeria!

If only you knew.

A lot of the mineral resources needed by modern tech gadgets manufacturing are located in the Congo. Even the phones we are using today have batteries made from the resources mined from the Congo.

Heatwave!

NiMet has been surprisingly accurate over the past few years. They are one of the few government agencies that are truly good at their jobs.

The unfortunate thing here is that people will not listen until it is too late. They warned of the flooding last year and nothing was done until after the disaster struck.

This is the time for the government of the affected States to swing into action. Ministries of health should be placed on alert and PHCN should give people light to power their cooling systems.

God bless Nigeria!

There is a type of disenfranchisement called 'Disenfranchisement due to ethnicity/residence'.

Did you witness what happened in Lagos during the March 18th elections? If you did, then you should know what it really is.

Paying taxes and voting are civic responsibilities. Earning a living and healthy standard or living are not civic responsibilities. Disenfranchising people by any means can't be justified to be honest. If people have to spend so much to vote, their country better be paying them damned well.

I'd have suggested a better and more secure means of voting but seeing how INEC managed to rubbish the recent elections despite all the planning and funding, It might as well be easier for pigs to fly than such innovations gain traction any time soon.

Decentralisation is the answer.

People are not being disenfranchised. They can vote, but not just anywhere smiley

You should as well propose that people should go back to their states of origin during national census to be counted there, since population is a major determinat in resource allocation and number of seats allocated to each state in the national assembly.

This can be part of it. Just like in the time of Jesus kiss

Your point is baseless and mumuish in nature.
Take me for instance I'm a Yoruba man and my father is from osun state but I have never been to osun state because I was born and bred in Lagos. Are you saying I should leave Lagos for osun state where I have no connection anytime there's election?
You people need to think things through before opening up your mouth wa.
If that's the case even tinubu or Sanwoolu will have to go back to iragbiji and ijebu to contest and vote.
If you think this your point is to hunt igbos then I tell you millions of Yorubas like me will be hunted more.

Not everyone will agree with my submission, but you must admit that if we go forward with this, it will signal an end to ethnic tension in Nigeria.

Inasmuch, I never wished for breakup of Nigeria. I found your proposal ridiculous.

It is better you propose that Nigeria divides than saying people should go to their state of origin to vote while paying taxes where they reside.

What's the pretence for?

Be bold and say you want a breakup.

Nigeria is a ridiculous country that has been unable to resolve and move past the ethnic fault lines engineered by her colonial masters.

What I proposed is a rational way forward and a possible way of ending the mutual suspicion amongst the various ethnic groups in Nigeria. Since everyone can only vote in their state of origin, nobody will cry that their state is about to be taken over by another ethnic group during election season.

The 2023 Gubernatorial elections in some states marked a near crescendo of tribal propaganda that had been deployed many times in the past. It must never happen again!

We as a people must figure out how to live together in peace, and one of the ways we can do this is to ensure that indigenes are protected from the (real or imagined) political meddling of settlers in their various states.

Everybody should go back to their states of origin to vote.

Taxes nko?

It is selfishness to take taxes from people and when it's time for politics, you remind them of their state of origin.

If you don't want non indigenes to vote, you should also stop collecting taxes from them.

Taxes will only guarantee you the right to live, school, work, do business, healthcare and have access to other social amenities in the region you live in. Voting will only be allowed in your state of origin.

We need to completely kill the type of ethnic propaganda that was spurn up during the last elections. The opportunity for irresponsible political actors and their surrogates to push us to the brink should be totally cut off.

A proposed ammendment to the electoral act and other areas of the constitution that concerns the right to vote to reflect this might just come up during the next national assembly.

I will support a constitutional provision to rotate the presidency between the south and the north on an 8 years basis. It will reduce the ethno-religious dimension in our politics.

Hmmm...

Or better still, let there be a constitutional provision for people to only be eligible to vote in their state of origin. This will help to allay the fears of a take over by another ethnic group in certain regions.

Jandor would have won but emergence of peter obi in labour party and lagos landlord that force himself on nigeria jeopardize his chance in governorship election and if it was Jandor that was the candidate of labour party it would have been difficult for apc to use Chinedu strategy that they use against gbadebo to brainwash the illiterate voters in lagos against Jandor

They would have still done the same thing, but in a different format. Remember what they did during the time of Jimi Agbaje

The tribal bigotry going on in this forum especially in the politics section is too much, you should allow people the freedom to support whoever they want and not insult them for doing otherwise. We all can't have one voice for now but we must be very civil on how we go about it. Please stop and learn to post things that are progressive. Elections are almost over, we must learn to move ahead irrespective of whoever has won. The court is there to attend to all aggrieved parties. Let calmness be restored once again on this forum. Thanks and God bless you all.

You are part and parcel of it. Why are you complaining now?
