WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon says a military raid last month killed the head of the Islamic State affiliate in Afghanistan.

In a statement Sunday night, the Pentagon confirmed the death of Abdul Haseeb Logari. At the time of the raid officials said they thought Logari had been killed, but were not certain.

U.S. officials said Logari was among several high-ranking Islamic State in Afghanistan leaders who died in the April 27 raid. It was carried out by Afghan Special Security Forces in partnership with U.S. forces.

The Pentagon says Logari directed the March 8 attack against Kabul National Military Hospital, which killed or wounded more than 100 people.

The raid targeted a compound in eastern Afghanistan. Two U.S. Army Rangers were killed by what officials believe was friendly fire.

This follows NAIJ.com's earlier report that three sureties, including a Jewish Rabbi and Senator Enyinnaya Abaraibe, vouch to stand-in and ensure the IPOB appears for trial at all times.

There was an unusual security presence at the Kuje Prison during the release of the leader of the IPOB Nnamdi Kanu. Several security operatives from the military, prison and some on plain clothes were seen littered around the prison facility. The operatives who are armed to the teeth were seen condoning visitors at the entrance of the prison under heavy rain. Meanwhile, only Kanu's brother and his lawyer were allowed into the main facility to present papers to the prison's in charge for his release.

Recall that NAIJ.com earlier reported a Federal High Court judge has signed the bail papers for the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. NAIJ.com also learnt that Justice Nyako signed the papers on Friday afternoon, April 28, after all the conditions given to the IPOB leader for his bail was met.
Three sureties including a Jewish Rabbi and Senator Enyinnaya Abaraibe, vouched to stand in and ensure the IPOB appears for trial at all times.

Members of Nnamdi Kanu's family, his lawyers and sureties are currently heading to Kuje Prison to pick him up. The group in a convoy of over 10 cars, left the Federal High Court in Abuja after the bail conditions were perfected.
