Politics › Re: ''why I Would Continue To Hold Goodluck Jonathan In High Esteem'' - Buhari by TheOdd1sOut: 11:01am On Oct 19, 2018 |
oluwafemme129: President Buhari says he would continue to hold former president Goodluck Jonathan in high esteem for conceding the 2015 presidential election without any fight.
President Buhari said this last night when he hosted members of the Kannywood entertainment industry to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking in Hausa, President Buhari said
“I’ll continue to hold former president Jonathan in high esteem as a result of that singular act. He (Jonathan) was in power as Deputy Governor, Governor (Bayelsa), Vice-President and President, all for about 10 years and he voluntarily accepted defeat and surrendered power to me,’’ he said.
At the dinner, President Buhari vowed to end the scourge of Boko Haram sect soon.
“It’s totally wrong for any believer in God to kill innocent people either in the Mosque, Church or the market place. You can’t be shouting Allahu Akbar (Allah is Great), Allahu Akbar, and killing innocent citizens and destroying properties all in the name of God.
It is either you don’t know what you are saying or you don’t even believe in the existence of God Almighty. God has nothing to do with injustice. So, now we are confronting them and by the grace of God we will destroy them.’’
Earlier in his remarks, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, expressed the hope that Buhari had been guaranteed at least five million votes in the 2019 presidential election by the fans and followers of the entertainers. I hope you will walk out peacefully as he did when we chase you this lifeless animal out of aso rock |

Politics › Re: 2019: Buhari Reveals Where His Votes Will Come From by TheOdd1sOut: 9:11am On Oct 19, 2018 |
mrakeli62: President Muhammadu Buhari has said that pregnant women and ordinary Nigerians will vote him back to power in 2019 election.
Buhari said he was not hoping to get any vote from the “big men” because they don’t come out to vote during elections.
The President also said that he would perform better if given another opportunity.
Buhari further stated that he had warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the security agencies to ensure that every vote counts in 2019.
He said he instructed them that all Nigerians must be allowed to vote whoever they want without harassment.
NAN reports that Buhari spoke on Thursday during an interactive session with a select group of Nigerian professionals based in the United States and Canada.
Buhari said he recognised that Nigerians in the diaspora were talented people and called on them to come to the support of the country, particularly, in education.
The president also said that he was not slow as some people had assumed, saying he was trying to follow the law, especially as democracy is different from military rule.
He recalled that he put people in Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos when he was a military head of state and then ensured they remained in custody until they were able to prove themselves innocent.
Buhari, however, said his administration was making progress but had to go by the law assuring that “if I win the next election and I survive the next four years, I will do better”.
He also recounted his experience in politics saying that he suffered electoral corruption from 2013 when he started contesting for the presidency and had at each point, pursued the case up to the Supreme Court but lost.
“I’m always conscious of the ordinary people because they are the ones that always vote for me. A lot of big men have no time to go and queue on the line for hours.
“There were even pregnant women who were on the line for hours and they delivered. They are my constituencies; they always vote for me,” Buhari said.

sophsia62: The Ogun State domestic debt profile stands at N106 billion while its monthly average Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is also N7 billion, it was learnt yesterday.
The Commissioner for Finance, Adewale Osinowo, who broke the news in Abeokuta, the state capital, said of the N106 billion debt burden, N14.5 billion was reportedly incurred from the bailout funds.
He was being grilled by members of the House of Assembly, presided over by the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Victor Fasanya.
The commissioner said the Ibikunle Amosun administration had paid all the state and local government pensioners till date.
On the finances of the state, he said the government would soon access N17.3 billion, the fourth tranche of the bailout fund, as the process for its release was being perfected.
According to him, the fund, which is domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will be released as all conditions for its disbursement were being finalised with relevant agencies.
Osinowo assured the lawmakers that the government would continue to promote accountability and transparency in its activities.
The commissioner said 60 per cent of the bailout fund would go into the payment of workers’ salaries, gratuities and severance allowances, which he said are beyond the initial 50 per cent agreement with the Federal Government, while the remaining would be expended on social services.
He added that Ogun State had not accessed the N17.3 billion bailout funds, contrary to insinuations in some quarters that the government had misappropriated it.
Oshinowo reiterated that the previous bailout funds were used to offset cooperative deductions and other arrears of all categories workers in the state public service.
Listing the amount so far received, the commissioner said the state got N10.6 billion as first tranche; N5.7 billion for the second tranche and another N5.7 billion as the third tranche of the bailouts from the Federal Government.
